About Steven Lawson

Steven grew up in a small town in the hills of West Virginia, where at the young age of eight it was inevitable that he was destined to sing. During his early years, you could find him playing piano and singing every Sunday with members of his family's church.

He joined the legendary “Calvary Echoes” headed by the inspiring songwriter Conrad Cooke. After his season there, Steven found himself on a tour bus with one of gospel music's premier quartets,The Dixie Melody Boys, where he sang for two years.

Steven then formed his own group, The Royal Heirs. While Steven managed The Royal Heirs, he encouraged and promoted the talents of many young artists who are singing and performing today.

Easter News From Mercy's Well

From Mercy's Well newsletter of March 28, 2013:

The month of March is coming to an end, but not without one last Sunday to worship together. With our nation and our world in such a time of darkness, we recognize that now, more than ever, we desperately need the power of God in our lives. He is here, watching over us and still working out His plan, but how often do we acknowledge Him or ask for His help? Our prayer is that the focus of your life - at all times, but especially this week - would be Jesus Christ.

Jesus suffered and died for our sins, and we rejected Him on this Earth.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth." Isaiah 53:5-7

Peter reminds us about the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
" He was not left in Hades, and His flesh did not experience decay. God has resurrected this Jesus. We are all witnesses of this." Acts 2:31-32

Because of Christ's resurrection, we are VICTORIOUS through God's power!
"It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:34-35, 37-39

Since we have been raised with Christ, Paul urges us to live that way!
"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth." Colossians 3:1-2

Have a blessed week, and worship the Lord with your whole being - for He alone is worthy!!!

In Christ,
Brad, Greg & Kyle

To think that God would become flesh to assume our sin debt...which we could never pay... is an amazing mystery we will never fully understand on this side of eternity. If you take the time to ponder what a gift we've received, because of His grace, you will be overwhelmed with an unexplainable sense of gratitude.

Godsey & Associates Releases Feature Film About The Life Of Rod Truman

Nashville, TN (March 25, 2013) Godsey & Associates is announcing the release of a full feature film on the life of Rod Truman. Truman is an ex-basketball Coach who was changed from a “Game Winner” to a “Soul Winner”.
Scott Godsey, President of Godsey and Associates said, “Rod's story is one that needs to be shared with the thousands who are fighting circumstances that may be hindering the calling God has on their life as well. Though most people will never suffer the trauma that Rod went through, perhaps seeing this film will help them receive the encouragement they need to move on with the Lord.”.
Truman's life had been consumed with basketball and coaching. When he was faced with the tragedy of life with diabetes that progressed to the debilitating state of kidney failure, he had to face life from a place he had never prepared to live. Suddenly, basketball took a back seat to just trying to survive.
He was plagued with diabetes throughout his coaching career that eventually led to total kidney failure. June 11, 1999 was a remarkable day in Rod’s life when he received a Kidney-Pancreas transplant. The procedure led to Rod’s death, but he was brought dramatically back to life. This weakness was made strong through God’s touch.
After these events, God has changed his focus from winning basketball games to winning souls. Now, he has shifted his focus from teaching plays to singing praise. His compelling, uplifting and encouraging story is one that must be heard!
Rod now offers a unique presentation in churches and other venues, singing songs with a narrative of his journey to healing. View highlights of the documentary of Rod's life here: http://youtu.be/S9xW0hFh0qQ

Dixie Melody Boys Announce Coming Changes

"We are sad to announce that Steven Cooper will be stepping down from the baritone position with the Dixie Melody Boys. As some know, he has been experiencing vocal issues for the last several years. He has been to numerous vocal specialists and they have advised him to go on an extended vocal rest. Steven recently celebrated his fifth anniversary with the group. He has been a valuable asset to us and will continue to be so," said Ed O'Neal. Steven will remain a member of the Dixie Melody Boys. He will help the group off stage and will also begin playing bass guitar for the group in the near future.

"I want to thank everyone for their concern and understanding over the last year. It has been difficult time having to go through this as a singer. I hope that someday my voice will return and I will be able to sing again. I ask that you will keep me in your prayers as I trust God for a healing. I also want to thank Ed, Matt and Mike for their support in this change and for allowing me to remain a member of the group." said Steven Cooper.

The opening has brought an exciting change for the group. "We are currently looking for a new baritone that can also play piano. The Dixie Melody Boys have a rich legacy that included a live band for years. Our lead singer Mike Rogers is one of the best guitar players in Gospel music. With Mike, Steven on bass and the new member on piano, we are excited to add the live band back to our performances. Sometimes through tough situations God can bring new seasons of blessings." said Matt Felts.

The Dixie Melody Boys will be excepting demos for the baritone/ piano position. Interested people can send them to dixiemelodyboys@yahoo.com.

Michael English To Release New CD March 26, 2013

MICHAEL ENGLISH SOME PEOPLE CHANGE HITS STREETS MARCH 26

CURB Records Set To Release Highly Anticipated Project

Nashville, Tenn. (March 22, 2013) – The wait is over! Acclaimed vocalist, Michael English, is set to release his new release, Some People Change, on March 26, 2013. The highly anticipated project is Michael’s first studio recording in six years and is being released by CURB Records.

Although this is his first solo recording in several years, the gifted singer has hardly been resting. Michael has kept an extremely busy touring and recording schedule as a member of the Grammy® award-winning Gaither Vocal Band.

Michael’s penetrating, power-packed vocals are at the forefront on this new release as he is featured on brand new songs, “That Great Day,” “Waking Up The Dawn,” the current single “Stubborn,” time-tested classics such as “I’d Rather Have Jesus,” and a brand-new version of Michael’s hit song, “In Christ Alone.” A bonus track, “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” is included from the film “The Last Ride,” about the life of Hank Williams.

You might hear a few familiar voices on some of the tunes. Russ Taff is featured on “Come To The River,” a cover of the pop classic, “I Knew You Were Waiting,” finds Crystal Lewis lending her vocals, The Martins bring their family harmony to “On That Great Day,” and Michael’s musical brothers – Mark Lowry, David Phelps and Wes Hampton – are featured on the Happy Goodmans’ tune, “I Wouldn't Take Nothin’ For My Journey Now.”

Some People Change features tunes from hit songwriters Neil Thrasher, Don Koch, Ben Hayslip, Jimmy Yeary, George Beverly Shea, Hank Williams, Jason Sellers, Jonny Lang, Jenny Lee Riddle, Rusty Goodman among others. “It all begins with a song,” says Michael. “I was blessed to get some of the best songs I’ve ever heard – some old and some new – on this CD! I had a blast singing the words of these writers.”

Masterfully produced by long-time friend, Jay DeMarcus, Michael knew Jay was the perfect fit for this recording. “No one knows my voice better than Jay,” Michael affirms. The two had previously worked together on Gospel (1998), and even a hint of Michael’s native North Carolina comes to the fore with subtle, yet distinct country flair.

Some People Change is currently available for pre-orders on MichaelEnglishMusic.com and all orders from the website will be autographed by Michael. Some People Change releases March 26 and will be available on iTunes, Amazon, all digital retailers as well as physical retail outlets such as Lifeway, Walmart and others.

Adams Call doesn't cloud great songs with over produced music, but lets the words and harmony be the foundation that makes for a unique, yet anointed sound in an age of ordinary. Great Group, Great Songs, Great Message.

Easter Story: Prison Fellowship Screens Stirring Film 'Unconditional' for Inmates

EASTER HOPE FOR INMATES
'UNCONDITIONAL'--FILM SHOWING GOD'S LOVE LIGHTING DARK TIMES IN U.S. PRISONS
Inspired by True Story of 'Papa Joe' Bradford,Maximum Security Convict Now Helping At-Risk Kids;
Prison Fellowship Screens at Prisons Nationwide
UnconditionaltheMovie.com

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – March 21, 2013 – Prison Fellowship—the world’s largest outreach to prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families—partners with the film UNCONDITIONAL to bring the movie’s life-changing message of hope to thousands of inmates nationwide beginning Easter weekend.

Through a special arrangement with Provident Films, Prison Fellowship will screen UNCONDITIONAL March 30 at Orlando’s Central Florida Reception Center and March 31 at the Desoto Correctional Institution in Arcadia, Fla. The events also feature Prison Fellowship CEO Jim Liske and “Papa Joe” Bradford, a former maximum security inmate now working to improve the lives of Nashville’s at-risk kids, whose life is the inspiration behind the film.

“I know what it means to be the man in prison,” Papa Joe said. “And I’m so excited that my story in the film UNCONDITIONAL can be used to bring hope to these men and their families. There are more than 2 million children of incarcerated parents in the U.S., and they need our love and encouragement.”

A young African American with unlimited potential, Joseph Bradford landed in prison among violent offenders after putting his considerable computer skills to work hacking into a bank and robbing it of about $200 (which he paid back). Released, in kidney failure, on disability and living in Nashville’s notorious projects, Bradford and his wife’s hearts were touched by the many fatherless children around them. Simple acts of kindness brought one after another of these kids to their door. They formed a choir for the kids and soon he was their “Papa Joe,” providing the love and stability he never knew. Today, they continue this work through Elijah’s Heart Ministry, showing love to underprivileged children and their families, assisting them with practical needs and inspiring others to act by raising awareness of these often-desperate situations.

“To help ‘Papa Joe’ share his message of God’s life-changing, unconditional love is an honor,” Liske said. “And this Easter weekend screening is just the beginning, as Prison Fellowship programs have the potential to connect or reconnect inmates in 1,200 prisons across the country to God’s love and their purpose in life through this inspiring film.”

Provident Films has made 80 site licenses available to Prison Fellowship for UNCONDITIONAL screenings with future showings to be announced. Additionally, Prison Fellowship, the organization behind the annual Angel Tree program bringing donated Christmas gifts to children of the incarcerated, hopes to include UNCONDITIONAL DVDs as a gift option. Last year, inmates’ families received more than 400,000 gifts through Angel Tree donations.

UNCONDITIONAL is a natural vehicle for sharing a hopeful message with inmates. In the film, Samantha Crawford (Lynn Collins, JOHN CARTER) is living a storybook life: she’s happily married, she lives on a ranch where she keeps her beloved horse, and the stories she’s told and illustrated since childhood have become published books.

When her husband, Billy, is killed in a senseless act of violence, Sam loses her faith and her will to live. But a death-defying encounter with two children leads to a reunion with Joe (Michael Ealy, BARBERSHOP), her oldest friend.

As Sam watches “Papa Joe” care for and love the kids in his under-resourced neighborhood, she begins to realize that no matter life’s circumstances, God’s love is always reaching out to us.

Additionally, among the DVD’s 12 special features are several that touch the world of the incarcerated:

● The Heart of UNCONDITIONAL
● Becoming "Papa Joe"
● Prison Yard Fight!
● Why Bad Things Happen
● Prison

Harbinger Media Partners produced and Provident Films and Arc Entertainment distribute UNCONDITIONAL, featuring Collins and Ealy and Bruce McGill (LINCOLN, THE LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE), Kwesi Boakye (I CAN DO BAD ALL BY MYSELF), Diego Klattenhoff (THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, Homeland), Cedric Pendleton (RUNAWAY JURY, DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN), and introducing Gabriella Phillips as Keisha.

UNCONDITIONAL also partnered with scores of ministries and nonprofit organizations nationally like the one run by the real-life Papa Joe, encouraging people to ACT on needs in their communities. Details at UnconditionaltheMovie.com.

Jason Crabb: The Reviews Are In!

JASON CRABB HITS A HOME RUN WITH LOVE IS STRONGER!

Latest Release Garners Major Attention, Strong Critical Acclaim

March 19, 2013 – (NASHVILLE, TN) The reviews are in and critics are raving about Love Is Stronger, the latest release from Grammy award-winning vocalist, Jason Crabb. The second studio release from 17-time Dove Award-winning vocalist has garnered attention from both Christian and mainstream press including CCM Magazine, Entertainment Tonight, Associated Press, and Fox News, among others.

Additionally, the release was highlighted by iTunes - the largest distributor of digital music - as a "New & Noteworthy Release" on the main iTunes page as well as Christian & Gospel page. iTunes selects these spots for releases they deem to be be significant additions to the musical landscape. AOL Music also turned their spotlight onto the project by hosting an AOL Music Listening Party where listeners could stream the entire CD for free during release week.

Produced by a trio of musical heavyweights – Jay DeMarcus (Rascal Flatts), Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin), Wayne Haun (Jessica Simpson, Celine Dion) – the project has received amazing support among reviewers and music fans alike. “I’ve been blown away with how warmly this new music has been embraced,” said Crabb. “I am so proud of this project and my prayer is that the music would touch the listener and give them encouragement.”

Crabb kicked off his release in high-gear as Free Chapel hosted a live CD release celebration featuring Jason, his band and a live orchestra. The event, streamed to over 40,000 people in more than 35 countries, featured special guests Pastor Jentezen Franklin, Andy Andrews and producers Jay DeMarcus and Wayne Haun. From there, Jason was interview by Fox News' Lauren Green via satellite from Rome, Italy where. Jason continued his high-octane release week taking the stage of the Grand Ole Opry where he debuted two new tracks from the project and he wrapped up the weekend with an appearance at Billy Graham's "The Cove."

Here’s just a sample of what people are saying about Love Is Stronger:

"Grammy-winning Christian singer Jason Crabb impressively drives home the theme of how genuine love can be even if there's heartache and grief. His soaring voice, lyrics of enduring faith and solid production on the 11-track set continue to prove why he is the Gospel Music Association's reigning male vocalist and artist of the year."
– Associated Press

"Love is Stronger is a breakthrough album that will thrust Jason Crabb into a bright spotlight...Jason uses tremendous vocal control as he slides effortlessly from soft, tender notes to full-on power belting... Kari Jobe joins her voice with Jason's on "Love Wins." The song defies categorization and should reach and bolster many.... This (album) has huge potential to expand Crabb's audience...Packed from start to finish with strong songs, versatile vocal performances, and an abundance of energy and emotion, this album is not limited to a single musical category...A gem of a record"
– New Release Tuesday

"Few artists on today's musical landscape possess Jason Crabb's ability to move effortlessly from one musical style to another, erasing boundaries between country, pop and gospel with the smooth, rich voice that has made him a Grammy winner and the Gospel Music Association's reigning Male Vocalist and Artist of the Year"
– AOL's The Boot

“No corn fluff to be found here…rich interpretations of positive lyric themes are set against solid arrangements…Crabb’s soulful tone weaves through this record… An eleven-track gem.”
– Music News New York

"Jason Crabb's new album (Love Is Stronger) is impressive."
– Huffington Post

"One of the most anticipated releases of 2013...He is definitely one of the most talented vocalists out there. Love Is Stronger is definitely one of the best albums of 2013."
– Christian Music Review

"…One of the most talented artists this industry we call CCM has ever seen…Spine-tingling artistry...Each moment of the new album is emotive and beyond the confines of any one genre…"
– CCM Magazine

"One of the most gifted vocalists to rise in popularity the past decade...A collection of strong tunes...Brilliant vocal showcases."
– Roughstock

“Crabb has never been more himself: he shows a greater command over his vocals and he has never sounded more passionate…This CD really brings out the new man in Crabb - one who is confident when he rocks and yet provides the heart pabulum when he croons.”
– Breathecast

“…Truly magical…Powerful, Jason’s delivery is heartfelt and flawless…”
– Absolutely Gospel

“…Truly fulfilling…One of the strongest gospel albums of this year.”
– Nashville Country Club

From the reviews, it is evident that Love Is Stronger, and the overriding messages of love and encouragement contained in the lyrics, have resonated strongly. The 11-track CD was released on March 12, 2013 and contains lyrics that echo Crabb’s own real-life.

Along with the release of the new project, Jason reached a social media milestone during release week crossing over 100,000 “likes” on Facebook. “I love my Facebook family! I love the way everyone prays for and interacts with each other,” Crabb comments. “It’s amazing what one comment can lead to. Many times I’ve posted a scripture or encouraging thought and someone replies back to tell me that it was exactly what they needed at that time.”
Love Is Stronger is available wherever music is sold and online digitally at iTunes, Amazon, and Rhapsody among others.

A book on Humility, by a lawyer? Really?

STOP THE PRESSES:LAWYER WRITES BOOK ON HUMILITY;'GET LOW' LAUNCHES APRIL 13
Youth Minister Turned Cop Turned Attorney
Turns On Wit and Insight For New Book on Humility
WhitecapsMedia.com

HOUSTON – March 19, 2013 – How does an old guy headed to the sports bar on his rider mower heighten the shock value of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem? It’s worth finding out in Get Low— Reflections on Pride and Humility, a new book from Jack Wisdom—attorney, Young Life leader and a former policeman whose footnotes, besides the Bible, reference notables such as Kris Kristofferson, Augustine, country music, The Boss and Sigmund Freud.

REQUEST A COPY OF GET LOW

“The humility of Jesus is no superfluous detail,” Wisdom writes in Get Low, speaking of God’s voluntary “downward mobility.” “For those who want to follow him, humility is non-negotiable.”

How timely is the “H” word? Besides the breath blowing in with the new pontiff—temporarily replacing “sequestration” as the word of the moment—President Obama spoke on it in his speech at this year’s National Prayer Breakfast. Expect to see it less in news from sports, entertainment, business . . . oh, and law. Wit pierces every trenchant essay as Wisdom beats the reader to “What’s a lawyer know about humility?” Of the Bible’s chief paradox, that we must die to self to fully live, he writes: “We are a proud people called to imitate a humble king.”

Still a Young Life leader, still an attorney, Wisdom went from Trinity University in San Antonio to—on a dare—two years on the Dallas Police force. Then followed Gordon-Conwell seminary in Boston; seven years in Texas starting Young Life groups from scratch; and then a law degree. Now Wisdom, named one of the top attorneys in the U.S., is a name partner in a firm with offices across Texas—with a readable take on humility.

The unusual book, with its unlikely topic and wildly unlikely author, opens with a chapter on Pride and ends with one on Victory. Neither fits supposed definitions in what Wisdom frequently terms “the bogus world system.”

“There is no easy path from pride to humility,” Wisdom writes. ”But the struggle is necessary and not at all futile because God is working in and among us. As we cooperate with the Spirit, as we grow in grace, God will do what only God can do—he will give us the power to get lower and lower, he will use us as agents of his kingdom, and ultimately, when the time comes, he will lift us up.”

Get Low e-book is available now. Hardback in stores and online beginning April 13.

For Lee and Elaine, these special dates represent a dream come true - and a good chance to dip their feet into the bigger global pond. "To say we are excited about going to Europe is an understatement," notes Elaine. "We are counting down the days!" The siblings believe that music is the universal language and hope that their music will resonate with the audiences overseas. "We want to show them that we love what we do and that we feel blessed to do it."

The two are studying some key phrases in Dutch and German, and Lee is looking forward to the challenge of driving on the "other" side of the road. "Elaine's scared to death of my driving here," Lee admits with a laugh. "I can't wait to see how fast she buckles up once I'm behind the wheel over there."

Lee and Elaine regularly perform over 150 dates a year across the U.S. and in Canada at venues ranging from festivals to more intimate music halls. They have become a favorite at Country Thunder and are honored to have performed at Bluegrass Nights At The Ryman, CMA Music Festival and the Tamworth Music Festival (Australia). THE ROYS have shared the stage with Bluegrass and Country legends and newcomers alike, including: George Jones, Ricky Skaggs, Lady Antebellum, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Doyle Lawson, Rhonda Vincent and many others.

Recently, the duo has been in the studio putting the finishing touches on their upcoming CD which is due in stores this summer. Their sophomore disc for Rural Rhythm Records, NEW DAY DAWNING (2012), debuted at Number 2 on the BILLBOARD Bluegrass Albums Chart in early September and two weeks later climbed to Number 1 on Amazon's Bluegrass Best Sellers list. The EP is currently on the BLUEGRASS UNLIMITED MAGAZINE Top 15 Chart and is one of SiriusXM BLUEGRASS JUNCTION's most played albums.

ABOUT THE ROYS
Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts and raised across the border in New Brunswick, Canada, Lee and Elaine come from a unique musical family. Surrounded by song from their earliest memories, the siblings have become one of the hottest acts on the Bluegrass/Roots/Country scene. Last October, THE ROYS were named Inspirational Country Music's Bluegrass Artist of the Year (2012). They were previously honored with that award in 2011 and dubbed the organization's Duo of the Year in 2010 and 2009. The twosome have enjoyed success at radio and are the Bluegrass darlings of the media. They've appeared on CBS This Morning, Marie, Fox & Friends, Daytime, Daily Buzz, The Better Show and more. Additionally, they have appeared on the PBS programs Pa's Fiddle: Charles Ingalls, American Fiddler and Song of the Mountains, RFD-TV's Reno's Old Time Music Festival, CMC Australia/Sky TV-U.K. and Bluegrass Mountains TV Show.

Williamsons & Jason Crabb Featured At “Save The Passion Play” Benefit

Eureka Springs, AR (March 14, 2013) The Multi-award nominated Williamsons from Wetumka, OK will join Grammy Award winning Jason Crabb for a “Save the Passion Play” benefit concert held in Eureka Springs, AR on Friday, March 22, 2013. The concert will be held in the park amphitheater and will begin at 7:00 pm.
Tickets for the event can be obtained at www.thegospelstation.com or www.greatpassionplay.org. Proceeds will help support the 2013 season of The Great Passion Play. Donnie Williamson commented
“The Williamsons are privileged to be part of such a worthy cause. Countless hearts have been touched and saved from their experience at the Great Passion Play.”
The Williamsons are part of The Gospel Station Family and Friends. The Gospel Station Network is the largest group of privately owned Gospel radio stations in the country. In December The Gospel Station accepted the task of saving The Great Passion Play from closing at the end of the 2012 season. With less than two weeks before foreclosure was to take place The Gospel Station team along with The Williamsons and other Family and Friends artists began raising funds to save the park. Over $75,000 was raised in that short amount of time which was enough to insure the performances would continue another season.
Donnie Williamson stated “The Great Passion Play has shared the story of the Passion of Christ to more than seven million people over the years. With God’s help it will be used to share the message with many more. Plans are also in under way to promote Gospel music to park attendees.” Donnie continued “The Passion Play Production will also be doing a regular dinner program at the Park during the summer. We will also be making occasional appearances at the amphitheater throughout the season.”
The Williamsons are based in Wetumka, Oklahoma and have been recently nominated as “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” and “Favorite Group of the Year” in the Absolutely Gospel Music Awards and are among the top ten finalists in the Singing News Fan Awards as “Favorite New Mixed Group”. Find out more about The Williamsons at www.williamsonsmusic.com.

About The Williamsons

The Williamsons began sharing the Gospel through music in 1998 as The Homesteaders Quartet. The dream of Donnie Williamson was to form a group to sing classic Gospel music on a limited basis. What he wanted to do never occurred. From the group's onset their demand was overwhelming. Soon they were performing more than 100 dates a year. For the past several years The Williamsons have been in full time Christian ministry and entertainment and have traveled across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Their music has been in national charts and were they honored to be nominated to the Gospel Music Association for a Dove Award.
Their high energy musical style appeals to people of all ages. The versatility of The Williamsons is evident through the wide variety of musical styles they perform. There is always something for everyone. The marketing of their performances targets families and not just fans of any particular type of music. Spending an evening with The Williamsons is sure to be one that will lift you up, bless you, and entertain you all at the same time. Their primary desire is to share the Gospel in such a way that those in attendance who do not know Jesus Christ will come to know him before the program is over.

Mercy's Well News

From Mercy's Well email newsletter of March 14,2013:

Happy Thursday to you...the weekend is almost here!

Last weekend, we decided to head south, to warmer weather. We were welcomed with sunshine and temperatures in the mid 70s during the day! We spent Saturday evening enjoying dinner and fellowship with some friends of ours from FBC Inverness, FL - Joe and Dawn. We had a nice, relaxing evening, and we were able to get to bed at a decent hour to prepare ourselves for the dreaded "Spring Forward" time change.

Sunday morning was a return visit for us to Silver Lake Community Church in Leesburg, FL. Pastor Jack and his congregation are always so welcoming and we look forward to the service we get to share with them each year! Sunday evening provided us with the opportunity to be a part of the concert series hosted by the First Church of God in Winter Haven, FL. This was our third time singing for Pastor Alan and his concert-goers, many of whom will soon be heading back to their northern homes. We had a good service, and managed to fight through the sickness once again - by God's strength and grace.

We will be in North Carolina the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye on our newsletter and the schedule online to see where we will be. We hope to see you soon!

Have a blessed weekend, everyone!

Sandberg says, "Lean In." Paddison adds, "And kneel down."

Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg's new book, Lean In—Work, Women and the Will to Lead, examines why women aren’t in top corporate leadership positions in proportion to their numbers in the workforce and among college graduates.

The book has spurred many questions for Diane Paddison, author of the recent Work, Love, Pray—a practical treatise for Christian women who feel called both to strong personal lives and a robust career. In response to requests, Diane articulates the Christian perspective:

"For anyone who still associates feminism with burning bras, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg are rebranding the word to mean women who believe the family/career question is not an either-or. Still missing in the conversation, however, is another “and”: Work, relationships and faith. The path to career success, and the successful balance of career and personal life, throw up all the things that faith alone can fully balance: decisions, sacrifice, hard work, relationships, ethics, setbacks, heartbreaks, family, politics, promotions, illness, failure, leadership . . . the list is long and the women who stand tallest know something about kneeling. Among the most powerful women in high-level leadership—Condelezza Rice, Meg Whitman, even Marissa Mayer says she puts God first—are many who know how to pray."

Diane Paddison, Harvard MBA, chief strategy officer at Cassidy Turley, and two times the only female member of the executive team at a Fortune 500 company. She’s also a wife, mother and Christian. Author of Work, Love, Pray—a practical guide to help women balance faith, family and work—Diane created 4word, a city-by-city and online community of career women. A frequent speaker at national events, Diane speaks to women who feel called to home and career, and to the corporations that need them.

'Crossroad' DVD March 12--Revenge, Forgiveness and God at Work

'CROSSROAD'-- REVENGE, FORGIVENESS AND GOD AT WORK IN EVERY LIFE ON DVD MARCH 12

CrossroadMovie.com

"...tense, involving, ultimately touching tale of redemption and forgiveness." Los Angeles Times

WHAT: CROSSROAD weaves a story of ordinary, seemingly unrelated people who witness the intimate power of God in a hostage situation with lives hanging in the balance. Award-winning Director Shervin Youssefian takes audiences to the CROSSROAD, a gripping film that debuts on DVD March 12, 2013.

WHO: Spot On Media’s CROSSROAD marks the feature film debut for award-winning director Shervin Youssefian. From executive producers Youssefian, David Dginguerian, Danny Simonzad and Amy Weber, CROSSROAD features Philip Bulcock (28 WEEKS LATER, RED TAILS), Kim Estes (The Closer, House) and Weber (Port Charles, CSI).

WHEN: DVD launches March 12, 2013

SYNOPSIS: Fueled by revenge, Michael (Philip Bullock) sets up a meeting at an out-of-the-way diner with the man who murdered his wife and child six years earlier. But his plans of killing him come to a sudden standstill when two gunmen burst in to rob the place. Michael takes matters into his own hands, shooting a robber and holding the entire diner hostage until the man he really wants to target arrives. In the midst of all these events, Michael finds an unlikely ally in Don (Kim Estes), a devout Christian who believes God is going to help him in his endeavor. While Michael battles with his faith, the hostages begin to find extraordinary connections between them. CROSSROAD is an emotional and inspiring story of redemption, forgiveness and the ultimate realization of God's grace at work in every life.

The “Christian CRASH”: Imagine a faith film with all the loose ends not tied up. CROSSROAD marks the advent of a different kind of Christian movie. A Christian ensemble drama where lives intersect around a tragedy like the Oscar-winning CRASH. It’s a clear presentation of the Gospel and an unapologetic weaving of spiritual mystery in everyday life. And at the same time, it’s a thriller. Shots fired. People hurt (and not always the ones you expect). First-time feature film director and the film’s writer Shervin Youssefian takes viewers on a zig-zagging journey through one man’s tragic loss, the quest for revenge and a realization that nothing is ever just as it seems. Talk to Shervin Youssefian about blazing a new trail in faith cinema.

A Fresh Face in Faith Films: CROSSROAD Executive Producer and featured actress Amy Weber is one of the new breed of women filmmakers in the faith genre. Talk to Amy Weber and find an active entertainment entrepreneur with her own production company, an actress with a growing string of credits, a wife, a mom and a dynamic example of women behind the camera in faith films.

Hot Topic—Revenge in News and Culture: Revenge is a hot topic. In Chicago, as the rising murder rate grabs headlines, many are tagged as gang-related revenge killings. Workplace violence is most commonly attributed to the perpetrator seeking revenge. Even in popular culture, it’s front and center with the popularity of the ABC TV series Revenge and Red Widow. CROSSROAD offers a faith-based take on revenge and how faith in Christ can break its power.
