Long Hollow Baptist Church Mourns the Loss of a Brave Leader and Friend David Landrith

David Landrith
David  Landrith
HENDERSONVILLE, TN, November 18, 2014 — This morning, Pastor David Landrith passed away at his home in Hendersonville, TN.
David was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called colorectal melanoma in March of 2013. Despite several surgeries and clinical trial medicines, the cancer continued to spread through his body, including his lungs and brain.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and their three children: Rachel (25), Sam (20), and Josh (18); his parents, Horace and Shirley Landrith; and his brother, Hal Landrith.
David was born in Klamath Falls, ID, but moved frequently throughout his childhood with his father’s work for the US Forest Service. He became a Christ-follower as a child at First Baptist Church in Lilburn, GA, but always considered his home church to be First Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN, where he spent his teenage years. It was during this time that he met and began dating Jennifer, who would later become his wife.
A basketball scholarship led him to Belmont College in Nashville, TN, where he majored in History (an ongoing passion throughout his life). Upon feeling God’s calling to vocational ministry, David attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he obtained a Masters in Divinity. David also became a chaplain for both the Army and Air Force, a ministry to our country that would continue throughout his lifetime.
Despite his original desire to serve as a youth minister, David sensed God’s leading to pastor a church as he finished seminary. This journey led him to Candies Creek Baptist Church near Cleveland, TN, which David described as “the only church that wanted me.” Under his leadership, Candies Creek grew exponentially from a congregation of 60 to nearly 500.
With an unanimous vote in 1997, David continued his ministry by becoming the senior pastor of  Long Hollow Baptist Church in Hendersonville, TN, a church of 300 at the time. With David’s  powerful teaching and steadfast faithfulness to God’s leading, Long Hollow experienced an unbelievable season of growth and global ministry that continues to this day.
“I’ve never known a pastor so loved by the people he serves,” says Long Hollow Executive  Pastor and former college roommate, Lance Taylor. “He had a God-given ability to keep people  together. In all the growth and changes through the years, God used him to keep our church  moving together in the same direction. In the 16 years I served alongside of David at Long Hollow, we enjoyed exceptional unity because of his leadership.” Church member and close friend Allen Lindsey says of David, “He’s the best natural leader I’ve  ever known.”
During David’s tenure, Long Hollow Baptist Church grew from one to five campuses with weekly attendance reaching as high as 7,500 people and a worldwide impact including  orphanages on three continents. In 2013, David’s last full year of ministry, Long Hollow became the first Southern Baptist church in the state of Tennessee to baptize over 1,000 people in one
year.
“He was a pastor everyone could relate to,” says childhood friend and Long Hollow Pastor of Spiritual Development, Jeff Lovingood. “He was also a friend that challenged you to be all that God made you to be.”
The church will remember David as a humble leader whose only focus was reaching the world with the hope of the Gospel.  In the immediate days to come, the Long Hollow family will join together for a time of mourning
and remembrance. Regular Sunday and Wednesday services will continue. At the appropriate time, Long Hollow will proceed with the search process outlined by Pastor David in August of  2014.
Long Hollow Baptist Church, founded in 1977, is an active community of Christ-followers that
gathers weekly in 5 locations around Nashville, TN. More information is available online at

The Marksmen Quartet reach across the generations with their latest release

Three-time Dove nominees the Marksmen Quartet of Murrayville, Ga. cross the “Generations” with their latest CD.

From the first song – Albert E. Brumley’s classic “I Firmly Promise You,” the smooth harmonies, which have made the group a Southern gospel and bluegrass mainstay for the last 47 years, blend the talents of three generations from the act’s most enduring families.

The quartet founded by Earle Wheeler in 1967 currently features Earle and his son Mark Wheeler along with 29-year Marksmen member Darrin Chambers and the latest addition Aaron Johnson. Darrin is the son of former long-time tenor singer and mandolinist Keith Chambers and Aaron is his grandson. The recording also features guest appearances by Mark’s children – Will and Sarah Grace singing and playing mandolin and fiddle, respectively.

“With the addition of Aaron to the group, it hit me that we reached our third generation of performers and audience,” Earle said. “So the theme of the latest project came to us easily.”

There are singers whose voices make them immediately identifiable; Earle’s unique Southern gospel vocal stylings have made the Marksmen sound recognizable in three music genres – Southern gospel, bluegrass and country. His leadership has garnered them countless awards in each genre including Dove nominations for their latest three CDs. Earle is featured on “Why Can’t You Believe?” and “Will You Meet Me Over Yonder.”

This CD features songs that highlight each member; it is Mark’s traditional country lead that through the years has become a pivotal part of the sound beside his father’s unique voice. Mark adds three more new songs to his songwriting catalog. He delivers a haunting performance -- “The Spirit Moved,” his song penned with Jim Green. He also features “No More Sin,” composed with Lance Carpenter.

Mark’s original song written with former Marksmen David Waller – “The Folly of a Fool” is sang by Darrin Chambers and is a commentary on believing in evolution.

A classic hymn written to feature a bass vocal “He Understands and Cares for Me” also highlights Darrin’s talents.

“Darrin continues to be a vital part of what we do musically and vocally,” Earle said.

Reaching back into some of the songs the group popularized early in their career with tenor Keith Chambers “I Have a New Life” and “Payday,” the group passes the torch now with his grandson carrying the prominent part in these audience favorites.

“Aaron’s approach is different vocally, but folks who follow us have shared how much they are enjoying his smooth sound,” Mark said.

The third generation of the Wheeler family adds their contribution as young Will Wheeler singing with his father and sister on “I’m Not Going to Hell.”

Sarah Grace joins her father and grandfather on “Time Has Made a Change.”

Mark features his banjo stylings on “the Old Cross Road” continuing a family tradition passed through the generations in his family.

Solid Gospel radio host Les Butler makes a guest appearance singing baritone and playing mandolin on the bluegrass standard “The Old Cross Road.” Fiddler Lynn Shook adds his talents to “Payday.”

“We hope that our friends will enjoy our latest CD,” Earle said. “This is my 44th album and each time we create a new one, its is just as exciting as the first time, the creativity, the love that is shared through the music, and the hope that God uses it to reach those who need to hear his message.”

The CD is available at for download on ITunes, Amazon.com and CDBaby. For more information, visit www.marksmenquartet.com, Fans may like Marksmen Mountain Music Camp on Facebook.

WHO'S PICKING A FIGHT WITH "FIFTY SHADES"?

OLD FASHIONED--a Small-Budget Indie--Climbs in the Ring

With Valentine Weekend's Studio Behemoth

OldFashionedMovie.com

BURBANK, Calif. -- Nov. 13, 2014 --Get ready to rrrr-rumble!  Release of the new “Fifty Shades of Grey” trailer has a video/trailer response from underdog OLD FASHIONED, also opening nationwide on Valentine’s weekend 2015.

In this corner, the heavyweight Cineplex champ “Fifty Shades of Grey”--bestselling soft porn about a naïve heroine and a tortured leading man who likes his women that way too. In this corner, OLD FASHIONED, in which two souls who are 50 shades of jaded try to build a love to last.
OLD FASHIONED is the story of a former frat boy and a free-spirited woman who together attempt the impossible: an “old-fashioned” courtship in contemporary America.

In his new video riposte to the “Fifty Shades” trailer (full transcript here), OLD FASHIONED writer/director Rik Swartzwelder opens with the obvious. “Why would a modestly budgeted romantic movie like OLD FASHIONED want to jump in the arena and go toe-to-toe in a David vs. Goliath standoff with a cultural juggernaut?

“Well, honestly, because we believe it matters,” he answers. “And I gotta believe—I find it impossible not to believe—that deep down we want to celebrate something more than ‘Fifty Shades.’

As with Christian Grey in “Fifty Shades,” OLD FASHIONED protagonist Clay Walsh packs a past. In contrast to Grey, however, Clay resists his friends’ cynicism and rejects the dead-end pain of standard dating. While Christian Grey leads Ana to the Red Room of Pain, Clay Walsh takes pains to avoid using Amber, whom he’s attracted to.

“When did treating women with respect become the joke?” Clay asks in the film. In an earlier scene he muses, “I don’t believe dating trains us to be good husbands and wives. It trains us to be skilled in the superficial.”

OLD FASHIONED “is a compelling look at modern relationships through the lens of honor,” Melinda Ledman writes in Christian Cinema. “ . . . a fascinating dive into the respectfulness of the past and its plausible application for the present.”

“‘Fifty Shades’ is short-term titillation and OLD FASHIONED offers a long-term alternative,” Producer Nathan Nazario explained. “Audiences want to hear that the best of the past is still possible—that a relationship can be the safe room.”

“Maybe it’s time for a line in the sand,” Swartzwelder said. “How much further can the envelope be pushed?  OLD FASHIONED raises questions worth asking from a cultural perspective. What is it that we genuinely aspire to, what is it we truly hope and long for?  For ourselves?  Our children?  Is it objectification?  Unbridled pursuit of our basest desires? Is that the legacy we want to create?  Is that the American dream?”

On Valentine’s weekend, the battle is at the box office, but Nazario says the action already is underway. “The more clicks on the OLD FASHIONED site, the greater our voice to say the values that got us here are the best ones to take into the ring,” he said.

OLD FASHIONED, from Freestyle Releasing, opens nationwide on Valentine’s weekend 2015.

Danville, KY (November 17, 2014) Jim Sheldon Homecomings are becoming a big deal in Danville, KY, as Jim brings in some of the very best talent Gospel Music has to offer. Last year he featured the Isaacs, this year Brian Free and Assurance. It doesn't get any better than this.

Held on a Thursday evening to a large crowd considering the intense weather covering the area. No matter, the crowd braved the weather to enjoy the electrifying music and message provided on this enjoyable evening.

Known as the Positive Cowboy from his regular role on the Music City Show, seen on RFD-TV, Jim warmed those in attendance with many of his chart busting songs, including "I Saw A Man”, "Mansion In the Sky” and of course the emotional song he wrote in honor of his sister "Even After”.

Joining Jim onstage was the Positive Cowboy Band which included great Nashville musicians Jeff Parker – Mandolin, Molly Cherry Holmes – Fiddle, Mark Fain - Leader/Upright Bass, Lynn Williams – Drums, and Seth Taylor – Guitar. Jim commented, "I love singing with the live music and it doesn't get any better than the Positive Cowboy Band.”

Brian Free and Assurance totally blew away the audience with their lively repertoire of hit's both present and past. The crowd was on its feet several times as they performed their Dove winning song "Say Amen” as well as their signature song "Long As I've Got King Jesus”.

Emcee for the evening as well as performing was Comedian extraordinaire Tim Lovelace.

A special thanks goes to Bev McCann (Manager) for presenting Jim with Plaques of Two #1 Songs, "I Saw A Man" & "Mansion In The Sky".
Speaking of the success of his Homecoming, Jim said, "This was an event I look forward to every year and I Am One Blessed Man. Praise God!”

Tribute rings in the holiday season with the release of their first Christmas recording

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 17, 2014) – The Tribute Quartet is excited to announce the release of their first Christmas project, “The Thought of Christmas,” for tomorrow Tuesday, November 18, 2014.

Tribute – a male quartet comprised of group manager and lead singer Gary Casto, baritone singer and pianist Josh Singletary, tenor singer Riley Harrison Clark and bass singer Anthony Davis – released its debut project as a Daywind recording artist in August, “Journey of Hope.”

The group’s long-time producer – Roger Talley – was the architect for both “The Thought of Christmas” and “Journey of Hope.”

“I am truly excited about this Christmas project,” emphasizes Casto. “I can honestly say that this could be one of our best projects to date. Once again, teaming up with Roger Talley and working with the staff at Daywind Records has helped Tribute Quartet create a project that we can be proud of for many years to come.”

The group’s first Christmas recording is an 11-song project that includes timeless classics such as “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Jesus, What a Wonderful Child,” “Come On, Ring Those Bells,” “Silent Night,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Mary Did You Know?”

“I had a great time working with Tribute on this new Christmas project,” explains Talley. “They sang better than I have ever heard them. This project sounds like the Christmas music that I have loved for years, and I am so proud to have been a part of it.”

Tribute joined the Daywind family earlier this year. The group has produced top-charting songs such as “Homecoming Day,” “Homesick Angel” and “Good News from Jerusalem,” a No. 1 song. Tribute’s latest radio release – “I Am a Soldier” – has risen to No. 49 on the Singing News Top 80 Chart for the month of December.

“We have been so excited about the release of ‘Journey of Hope,’ and now, Tribute has followed that up with yet another outstanding project,’” says Daywind president Ed Leonard. “The group continues to hold itself to such a high standard, and the exceptional quality of these top-notch recordings are evidence of that. Claire Lynch Releases Holiday AlbumAward-Winning Artist
Rings in the Season with Holiday!

NASHVILLE, TN – 2013 IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year, and winner of the 2014 IBMA Song of the Year (“Dear Sister”), Claire Lynch, is excited to announce a very special release for the holidays on her own Thrill Hill Records. Holiday! is Claire’s first seasonal album and is available now at her live shows and through the Claire Lynch website.

Holiday! sets the mood for enjoying holiday traditions and cheer. “I took songs from my childhood holiday memories and then we put the ‘CLB twist’ on them,” the multi-award-winning artist says.

The ten-track album is melodic and contemporary with a retro charm that harkens back to great, traditional holiday albums. Holiday! features an array of seasonal standards like “Home for the Holidays,” “White Christmas,” and a special version of “Scarlett Ribbons” with harmonies by Claire’s daughter, Christy.

Holiday! puts emphasis on Claire’s delicate vocals and the instrumentation of her virtuosic players creating a delicious intersection of bluegrass and jazz.

The current Claire Lynch Band is a powerful juggernaut, a quartet that has the innate ability to perfectly interpret the beauty, subtlety, and genre-defying sophistication of Claire’s music. The CLB features like-minded musicians blending tradition and innovation - two-time IBMA-winning bassist-clawhammer banjo player-dancer-percussionist Mark Schatz, soulful mandolinist-guitarist Matt Wingate, and young string wizard Bryan McDowell.

Holiday! was recorded at Lynch’s recording studio, The Pine Room, and engineered by Todd Phillips, who also appears on the album as percussionist and has traveled with the CLB.

“I can say that this is the most-relaxed and happy I've felt while recording an album in my entire career. Many years have passed since I first expressed interest in doing a holiday recording. Here is a collection of holiday classics with that fresh “CLB” feel, yet grounded with the sentimental feeling we all sense this time of year.” –Claire Lynch
