Award-winning Tenor DAVID PHELPS Celebrates FREEDOM with All-NEW Recording
Acclaimed Vocalist Brings a “Ghost Town” to Life
Phelps Showcases His Vocal Prowess and Songwriting Talents with New Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--February 23rd, 2015--GRAMMY®-nominated, classically trained tenor David Phelps showcases his award-winning voice and three-octave range on his all-new recording, Freedom (Gaither Music Group). Produced by Phelps and mentor/friend/gospel music legend Bill Gaither, the new release, scheduled to hit the streets on April 14th, underscores Phelps’ ability to bring music to life.
“Freedom is a bit of a return home for me,” he describes. “I love that the first song starts with the lyric, ‘I'm back again....’ As the song ‘I'm Coming Home’ unfolded I knew that it had to be the first song on the project. I began my recording career with a project that included songs like ‘End of the Beginning,’ ‘Let the Glory Come Down’ and ‘No More Night’ – a gospel release with an eclectic mix of modern pop and soulful ballads. I will always be an eclectic artist, and…I've been honored to record rock ballads, traditional pop songs, classical arias and gospel standards.”
Fans will enjoy more of those gospel standards on the new recording, which includes Phelps’ haunting rendition of the classic hit “Ain’t No Grave,” an acoustic-driven version of “When the Saints Go Marching In” and a signature recording of “We Shall Behold Him.”
In addition to gospel favorites, Phelps contributed nine new songs that he wrote or co-wrote to the release. He addressed topics such as humility, brokenness, awe, faith, doubt, hope and freedom as featured in the title cut that required some soul-searching.
“The central theme of Freedom emanates from the title song, ‘Ghost Town (Freedom),’” explains Phelps. “I began writing the era-based lyric in the verses and was amazed how the metaphor of Christ painted itself. However, I got to the chorus and was stuck. After playing it for Bill (Gaither), he agreed that it needed something different than what I had. I went back to the drawing board.
“I asked myself, ‘What is all this about? It's not really about a ‘Ghost Town’ or a metaphor or even the specific deeds of Jesus. It's about why He did what He did: freedom!’ So much of our spiritual lives (and the songs on this project) are spent searching for or trying to cling to freedom.”
The recording features Phelps’ anticipated powerhouse vocals along with musicianship from a who’s who of Nashville talents including Gordon Mote, Chris Rodriguez, Danny O’Lannerghty, Greg Ritchie, Sam Levine, David Davidson and Jack Jezzro among others. The orchestrations were penned by Phelps, Mote, Steve Mauldin and Kristin Wilkinson. The rest of the Gaither Vocal Band -- Bill Gaither, Wes Hampton, Adam Crabb and Todd Suttles – were on hand to perform some of the project’s background vocals.
“I truly feel like these songs are a part of me,” Phelps explains. “They are snapshots of where I am on my journey, and my hope is that they are told in a way that others can relate to and be encouraged by. I am far from perfect and depend on grace every moment of every day. I hope that Freedom paints a real portrait of living faith as I learn and grow on my journey.”
Freedom will be distributed through Capitol Christian Distribution and will be available throughout general market stores and the Christian marketplace in addition to online retailers including iTunes, Amazon and www.gaither.com.
The release will be positioned heavily at retail, via catalog placements and through a direct TV campaign, beginning in April, on networks including DISH TV, DIRECTV, AT&T Uverse, PBS, GaitherTV, TBN, FamilyNet, CTN, GMTN, Guardian, Liberty, RFD, TCT and TLN. The campaign will also air in Canada on Vision TV, The Miracle Channel, Grace TV and CTS.

An Open Letter From Karen Peck Gooch
Hey Friends:)
My husband, Rickey Gooch, is the strongest and hardest working man I know. It is an honor and a blessing to be his wife.
A few weeks ago, Rickey discovered a knot in his neck. After consultation with his doctor Rickey was prescribed two rounds of antibiotics. After the knot did not go away, additional testing was ordered.
After a neck scan, two biopsies, a CT scan and a PET scan, Rickey was diagnosed with squamous carcinoma, a type of cancer. Thank the Lord, the cancer is confined to Rickey's left tonsil area and has not spread anywhere else within his body. As a result of this diagnosis, Rickey will begin a series of treatments in the coming days. The doctors feel very confident that the treatments will be successful and this will soon be behind us.
During the weeks Rickey and I have been dealing with this, the Lord has shown us such mercy and grace. He has reminded us of His sovereignty and even when we were at our lowest, we could feel His loving arms wrapping around us and covering us with peace that surpasses all understanding. Truthfully, we would not have made it this far without the Lord. Even though we are devastated, we realize the Lord is strengthening us more every day as we move forward.
Because of this situation Rickey and I stayed home for a few days to attend doctors appointments. We are so proud of our group, though, as they continued to travel to honor our commitments. Rickey and I want to offer our sincere appreciation to Katy Peach for filling in for me and doing an amazing job. Also, we give special thanks to Susan, Jeff, Matthew, Kari, Tripp King, and Danny Jones for stepping up and doing what needed to be done. Audiences were blessed and we were thrilled to learn that some even accepted Jesus as their Savior. Praise the Lord!
Rickey and I will be back on the road this weekend. We want to thank everyone for the love you have shown our family. We love y'all dearly. Please continue to pray for Rickey. We know that God will make this trial a blessing.

Williamsons Score #2 Spot For February In SGNScoops Top 100
I am completely overwhelmed at the response we are getting to our song, “It Was The Word.” We are so excited to have our very first top 20 song in the Singing News, and to see it climb to number two in the SGN Scoops Top 100 chart is just awesome! I really think listeners and deejays love to be reminded of what it was that brought all of us to our knees. It takes the Word of God and the sweet conviction of the Holy Spirit to change a life and that’s exactly what this song talks about!" says Lisa Williamson Of The Williamsons.
“I knew, as I produced the new album for the Williamsons that they were about to enter a new season. Their heart for ministry, well, that was a strong as ever, but I knew that the whole world would soon be as aware that The Williamsons are the COMPLETE package; amazing hearts, awesome talent, real servants, and, they’d also find out that LISA is a singing and songwriting machine! I am so HAPPY for them and their #2!!!! Very deserved!” states Donna King of Vertical Sky and Zane and Donna King.

Fans gathered at the Lifeway Christian Store in Mesquite, TX for a release party with The Erwins
(Nashville, TN)… The Erwins, one of Southern Gospel’s fastest-rising Mixed Groups, are proud to announce the release of their StowTown Records debut album, Ready To Sail.
In a release party held at the LifeWay Christian Store in Mesquite, TX, Tuesday evening, the group performed selections from their new project, visited with fans, and enjoyed a great night celebrating this brand new project.“We were so overwhelmed by all our friends that came to LifeWay to support us on the release of our Ready To Sail CD. The room was packed and everyone was so kind,” said Keith Erwin, the oldest of the sibling quartet.
“We have dedicated this CD to the Lord and believe these songs will bless many people as they have us. Our first single, “I Choose To Be A Christian,” is one of the greatest songs we have ever had and we pray it becomes an anthem for all Christians.
“What a fun experience it was to host The Erwins’ Ready To Sail release party in our store,” added store manager Sam Colletti. “Their roots in our area churches are deep, so it was a little like a family reunion for many of us! Many thanks to The Erwin Family from your LifeWay Christian Store family!”
The family group includes the distinct standout harmony of four siblings from Edgewood, TX: three brothers, Keith (22), Kody (20) and Kris (18), along with their little sister Katie (14).
“We are thankful for StowTown Records. They have been an amazing blessing,” exclaimed Keith. “Ernie, Landon, Wayne and Randall are the tops in our books and we are honored to be a part of the StowTown Family. We are living a dream!”

Donna King Lands in Top Ten of NSAI Song Contest
Last October, upwards of 2000 songwriters entered songs in the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) Song Contest presented by CMT (Country Music Television Network).
On February 1, 2015 the Top Ten Finalists were announced and among that select group was producer, songwriter, and artist in her own right, Donna King. Donna is well known in Christian music circles, having written, produced, and performed many hit Christian songs. However, this particular song is from Donna’s Country music songwriting collection. The song is entitled “THIS KIND OF COLD.”
Donna says, “I am still in complete shock over making it to the NSAI CMT Song Contest Top 10 Finalists. I know I have to write songs and nothing I am able to do is done in my own strength. I pray that each song I write will find the home it was meant to live in. Some of those songs are just meant to live in my own heart and others are meant to reach places that I can only imagine they might go.
“The most wonderful thing about this contest is the opportunity to expand the reach of my songs and to live fully in what I feel is God’s most definitive call on my life. I congratulate every finalist for their achievement and I thank the NSAI and CMT for helping to create a path for songs that may never otherwise have an opportunity to be heard. I also thank every person taking the time to vote for “THIS KIND OF COLD” and to share it with others to vote as well. Finally, I thank God. He knows the plans He has for me…Jeremiah 29.11.”
The GRAND PRIZE winner of the NSAI Song Contest is determined solely by fan vote. Right now through February 28th, 2015, Donna will need our help by voting and also by sharing/asking others to vote for her song, “This Kind of Cold,” on the CMT website. You only need to vote one time per person and it’s as easy as selecting Donna’s song, entering your email address and submitting. The direct link to the NSAI CMT Song Contest page is www.nsai.cmt.com . When sharing on Facebook, Twitter, and the like, please use hashtags #NSAIsongcontest #VOTEThisKindOfCold when possible.
Also, to make it even easier, Donna’s family has graciously set up a listening link to her song and a direct link to the CMT Voting site. You can find the links here:

Tribute to Lari Goss in latest SGN Scoops Digital Magazine for February 2015
It’s February and time to grab your coffee, snuggle up by the fire and read all the great stories in this edition of SGNScoops Magazine. We know we have enough captivating features to keep you reading until you are warm and toasty!
Our cover feature celebrates the life of Lari Goss. If you didn’t know the extent of Goss’ accomplishments, I know that this feature by Jennifer Campbell will enlighten you. If you knew and loved this gentleman, we hope that we have done his life justice.
Some of the other artists and Gospel music notables highlighted this month include Matt Felts and the Lesters, Austin Whisnant, the Revelation Trio, the Hall Sisters, Higher Hope and Les Butler. Our feature writers have done a wonderful job! I hope you will find these great folks on Facebook and show them some love (but not in a creepy way!)
Read all about Jonathan and Jordan Wilburn as well. I had a good interview with Wilburn and Wilburn and talked with them about their music and their family lives. We talked about love and relationships, in honor of Valentine’s Day.
You will also find interesting features from the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church and from Lynn Mills our Event Planner. Dean Adkins highlights Church Quartets. Visiting with us in our Pastors Corner is Ed Smith, with a great article on the purpose of music in the life of a Christian.
The Southern Gospel DJ’s play such a large part in our music, that we are happy to salute a new one every month. Vonda Easley shines the spotlight on ReJeana Leeth, who has a great story that you need to read.
Thanks to all of you who read SGN Scoops and pass it along to others. The best way to let us know you like us is to share this issue with five of your social media friends. You can download the February SGN Scoops Here

Valentine's Day Season Prompts Liquid Church to Challenge the 'Myth of Finding Mr. Right'
Pastor & Author Tim Lucas Claims Every Married Adult "Married the Wrong Person!" in Provocative Book
MORRISTOWN, N.J., Feb. 5, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- Whether single, married or single again, relationship counseling sessions at Liquid Church of NJ have increasingly involved married couples lamenting that they "married the wrong person." Frequency of marriage has dropped to historic lows in 2015 as adults delay marriage to avoid picking the wrong person. In response, Tim Lucas, lead pastor and founder of the fastest-growing Christian Church in New Jersey has written a new book, "You Married The Wrong Person! The Relationship Secret Every Couple Needs to Know" and is giving it out for free to every married couple and single adult who visits Liquid Church in February. Free chapter downloads are available at www.YouMarriedTheWrongPerson.com
Designed to spark candid conversation with single and married adults, "You Married the Wrong Person!" is a fresh take on modern relationships. "They say love is blind," Lucas notes, "but marriage opens your eyes! According to the Bible, none of us are compatible!" However, instead of lamenting that message, Lucas says it is liberating. "Our culture's quest for the 'perfect partner' misses the point of marriage. Luckily, there's one relationship secret every couple can discover to fill the gaps between expectation and reality," said Lucas.
Liquid Church, which meets in Morristown, Mountainside, New Brunswick and Nutley, New Jersey on Sundays, will be giving away thousands of free copies of "You Married the Wrong Person!" to adults visiting services on Sundays. The book is also available at Amazon.com beginning today in paperback and Kindle formats. Details of the book and author, as well as a downloadable ebook of the first chapter are available at: www.YouMarriedTheWrongPerson.com
Tim Lucas is pastor, speaker, and founder of Liquid Church, one of the fastest-growing churches on the East Coast. Every Sunday, over 3,000 people hear Tim preach at one of Liquid's metro area campuses. A dynamic communicator, Tim is known for his trademark humor, honesty, and insight. A graduate of Wheaton College, Tim is known for his creative use of story, scripture, and multimedia to communicate life-changing truth.
Liquid Church is one of the New Jersey's fastest-growing Christian churches. Founded in 2001 by Lead Pastor Tim Lucas, the church's vision is to "take church to the people" with campuses in Morristown, Mountainside, New Brunswick, and Nutley. Each week, over 3,000 people experience Liquid Church's worship services each weekend in New Jersey and around the globe through Church Online. As a part of its global outreach Liquid provides clean drinking water to the poorest of the poor with dozens of completed projects in several countries including El Salvador and Nicaragua. Liquid Church's innovative approaches to outreach have been spotlighted by CNN and The New York Times. More information is available at www.LiquidChurch.com.

LARRY GATLIN & THE GATLIN BROTHERS ANNOUNCE 60TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR
Gatlin Brothers Announce First Wave of Tour Dates in Celebration of 60 Years of Music
Nashville, Tenn. (February 4, 2015) - Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers have been dazzling
audiences for 60 years. It all began in 1955, when Larry was six, Steve was four, and Rudy was two. Since those days, the road that the trio has plowed has taken them to concert stages all over the world and has seen their records top the charts and touch the lives of fans from eight to eighty.
Larry says of their 60th Anniversary Tour, "We’re not calling it a farewell or a final tour. We’re calling it the 60th Anniversary Celebration. By no means are we retiring, but after this tour, we are going to slow down a little bit. The promoters are going to have to want us about three times more than they want us right now," he laughs.
As Larry says, "There are other priorities in life. I have two granddaughters. Brother Steve has seven grandchildren and Rudy has two kids. We still love the fans and the road and we still love to sing but we want to spend more quality time with our families."
After performing together as children, Larry went off to college – studying law at the University of Houston. In 1971, he auditioned for the legendary Imperials, Elvis' backup group. He didn’t get the job, but he met Dottie West, who was the opening act for the legendary Jimmy Dean, who would become one of Larry's oldest and best friends. Dottie was initially taken with Larry's resemblance to Nashville songwriter Mickey Newbury. Dottie told him one night in her backstage dressing room at the Landmark Hotel in Las Vegas, "Larry, you look so much like Mickey Newbury, you've just got to be able to write great songs." After the gig in Vegas, Larry went home to Houston, wrote eight songs, sent them to Dottie, and she sent him a plane ticket to Nashville.
Through Dottie, Larry met Kris Kristofferson, who became a champion of his talent as a writer and singer. Kristofferson introduced Larry to Fred Foster at Monument Records which resulted in a contract with the record label. His first album, The Pilgrim, was released later that year. Johnny Cash, wrote the liner notes for his first album, and dubbed him "The Pilgrim," which is what he called Larry until the day he died. Steve and Rudy moved to Nashville in 1975 and teamed up with brother Larry to form Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers. By 1976, the Gatlin Brothers were in the fast lane, thanks to the chart-topping success of the Grammy-winning "Broken Lady." The hits continued throughout the rest of the decade, with seven more number one songs: "I Don’t Wanna Cry," "I Just Wish You Were Someone I Love," "Statues Without Hearts," "Love Is Just A Game," "All The Gold in California," "Houston (Means I'm One Day Closer To You)" and "Night Time Magic." In addition to being inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, the trio was nominated for awards by the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music and the Music City News Awards, among others. "We won some of 'em too," notes Larry.
So, as Larry, Steve and Rudy close out one chapter of their lives, they are looking forward to the next one. Larry says, "We're not cutting back because we can't draw a crowd or that we can't sing anymore. Today, we sound just like we did 40 years ago.... pretty dad-burn good. We're not being run out of the business. We're not going broke. We're not down to bread and milk money. We just think it's time to do some other things, slow down a little bit, and do it with class and dignity – on our own terms. We are grateful to God for our fabulous run and we can't wait to see what else He has in store."
Today, the brothers announced the first leg of their 60th Anniversary Tour. In addition, the brothers will soon release a new Gospel album on Curb Records, titled, Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers 60th Anniversary Celebration. Larry says, "We were going to call the album, The Gospel According to Gatlin because some of the new songs are a little edgy, a little bit different. Then we realized it was our 60th anniversary, so we went with that as the title." And speaking of edgy, Larry says, "Steve and Rudy and I didn't get where we are by playing it safe. We have always pushed the envelope, we have always crossed borders others were afraid to cross and we're not going to stop now... and that is the Gospel According to Gatlin."

On shelves now, a book about intellectual suicide . . . and Jesus
JESUS ON RELIGION, TOLERANCE AND A POLITICALLY CORRECT CULTURE
ThePoliticallyIncorrectJesus.com
WHAT: The Politically Incorrect Jesus—Living Boldly in a Culture of Unbelief
U.S. society may specialize in unbelief but Muslims, Jews and Christians dominate the news feeds and it’s safe to say . . . well, hold on: What is it safe to say?
In a world trying to determine “where the lines are,” author Joe Battaglia injects--ready for this?—Jesus into the conversation. As fresh as today’s news aggregate, as timeless as Truth, if there’s an edge, Joe’s there: where religion turns deadly and arrogant, where Christian views get suppressed, and where society turns schizophrenic, Jesus speaks into those issues. From more than four decades in journalism and broadcasting, a seasoned communicator and politically incorrect thinker gives believers short, readable chapters long on common sense. We’re overdue.
SYNOPSIS: If you find yourself unsure of what it’s socially safe to say, consider Jesus: admired and ridiculed, revered and rejected, dismissed and embraced. And most of what He taught and stood for ignored both political correctness and personal safety. In The Politically Incorrect Jesus, author Joe Battaglia--former journalist and communications specialist--says to us that to assent to the latest acceptable language and moral ideology--to give up on what we know to be true--is intellectual suicide.
The church also has its own version of political correctness, Joe warns, and we are not safe from circumspection, as well, because we are the church. If you’re tired of spiritual slumber, and ready to honestly question the intellectual and spiritual inconsistencies of our times--and your life--you’re prime for Joe Battaglia’s The Politically Incorrect Jesus.
WHO: Joe founded and heads Renaissance Communications, a media company that specializes in reaching the faith-based marketplace. Renaissance’s impressive client list includes Dr. Steve Brown and his nationally syndicated Key Life Radio Network, AFFIRM Films/Sony Pictures Entertainment, Provident Films and Feed The Children.
Also, Joe is executive producer and general manager of Keep the Faith radio program, in 200-plus markets nationally and abroad. His first book was A New Suit for Lazarus. Joe studied journalism at Boston University and graduated magna cum laude. He co-founded and is board president of the non-profit CharityOne; he’s a partner at BigOyo Inc., an intellectual property and content distribution company.
What’s safe now for Christians to think and say? If you have to ask, you’ll love the answers with Joe Battaglia about The Politically Incorrect Jesus.

About The Freemans
History, experience and spiritual wisdom are three attributes that can be used to describe the foundation of the Freeman ministry. Deeply rooted with family, the Freemans experience spans 30+ years. From Darrell’s entrance at age 16 with his family’s group, the Pathways, to Chris’s award-winning teenage years with the Hinsons, the Freemans know the ins and outs of Southern Gospel music.
No doubt, Chris’s unique sound is the reason she was the youngest female artist ever to receive the coveted "Queen of Gospel Music” award two years in a row (’76, ’77) as voted by the readers of Singing News Magazine. In 1980, the lives of Darrel and Chris Freeman became one when they married on August 2nd. After singing with the Pathways for three years Darrell and Chris headed for Nashville and began the Freemans. Joe Freeman, Darrell’s cousin, soon joined them as the third part harmony, as well as their keyboard player. With this sound they have garnered tremendous growth and success.
In 1997, Darrell and Chris’s daughter, Misty, began playing acoustic guitar with the group on stage. Then in 1998, she began singing with them when they recorded Standing Out. Also on stage is Caylon Freeman, Darrell and Chris’s youngest child. He decided to join his family on the road full-time in 2002. He is now playing the drums and singing some with the group.
Now in their 20th year, the Freemans, still do approximately 250 dates a year, and continue to experience tremendous success.

Unknown Actor Nabbed the Role of a Lifetime in 'David and Goliath' Movie
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 4, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- A mid-16th century painting in the Louvre Museum in Paris depicts David fighting Goliath. The uncanny resemblance of that David to the actor playing David in the new movie, 'David and Goliath' is almost astonishing.
"I know Tim Chey (the director) didn't pick me because of that," jokes Miles Sloman who is riding high after a grueling shoot in the North African desert playing 'David.'
London-based Sloman beat out more than 7,000 actors to win the part of 'David' in the high-profile movie that opens April 3 in theaters nationwide.
"We wanted a world-class actor and only the hand of God could have picked Miles," says Tim Chey. "We casted in LA, New York, Toronto, London, Madrid, et al, and he beat out a stiff competition."
How did this unknown actor prepare for the part?
"So many words have been written about David," says Sloman, "that I truly needed to understand such motivation that his faith undoubtedly gave him. For me the clues were in the script, Tim has spent a huge amount of time on getting it right and true to the story in order to make it as Biblically correct as possible."
What was his biggest challenge?
Sloman has to think about that one. "Taking a lead role in such a significant film was initially daunting and I put a fair amount of pressure on myself but with the help and support of my fellow actors I felt at ease from the first take and ended up loving my time in Africa."
Chey chuckles when told Sloman's comments. "He's just being gracious. He didn't mention the time he fell off a donkey because of my stupid hubris."
A helicopter taking shots of the scene spooked the donkey causing the donkey to buck and knocking Sloman six feet into the air. Sloman got up and bravely wanted another go. "Miles became my hero at that point," says Chey.
Fortunately Chey's wife, Susan, also a producer, is a former nurse and tended to Sloman to make sure he had no broken bones. "He's a real trooper," says Susan, "and everyone had deep respect for him on the set from that day forward."
And what is Sloman's impression of the real David?
"He is absolutely driven by his unfaltering faith," says Sloman, "something I really admire. He remains true to himself and doesn't give up despite everyone's best attempts to put him down. It's the ultimate underdog story and I think a lot can be taken from David's sheer determination, faith in God, and courage to stand up to adversity."
"David and Goliath" is considered one of the big three Bible movies hitting theaters after "Noah" and "Exodus: Gods and Kings" and the most Biblically correct.
"David and Goliath" looks at one of the most powerful and beloved Bible stories of all time. The film will focus on the early life of David who fought against the Philistine giant, Goliath against all odds.

About Three Bridges
Three Bridges music is rooted in traditional ”southern Gospel” and ”black Gospel” music. This blended style has made Three Bridges an internationally-acclaimed Gospel group — one that is known for tight harmonies, a unique vocal style, an exciting and energy packed stage presence and, most importantly, for spreading the joy of the Good News of Christ. They have entertained and ministered to millions through their recordings, TV appearances and live shows — which is why Three Bridges has quickly become one of the most prominent Gospel groups in Christian music today.
Following the release of the critically-acclaimed debut album, Soldiers (2002), Three Bridges has wowed packed-out venues across the nation…from Gospel singings, business conventions, churches, political meetings, TV shows, charitable relief events – all the way to Air Force One! They have also appeared on many of the Bill Gaither Homecoming video tapings and were special guests on a video for the United Nation.

Reach Beyond's 'Bucket Brigade' Campaign to Help 2,500 Break Ebola Infection Cycle in Sierra Leone
Families Isolated in Quarantine or High-risk Remote Areas Receive Life-saving Supplies through 'Bucket Brigade'
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Feb. 5, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- Reach Beyond's "Bucket Brigade" campaign, which provides life-sustaining food and supplies to families in quarantine or isolated areas, is helping break the insidious cycle of Ebola infection in parts of Sierra Leone, where the disease still rages.
Photo: "Bucket Brigade" volunteers in Sierra Leone assemble food and valuable supplies that can sustain a family of five in isolation or quarantine during the Ebola epidemic, thereby reducing exposure and transmission of the virus.
The effort is coordinated with the Believers Broadcasting Network (BBN), a radio ministry launched by Ransford Wright in West Africa, to help break the transmission of the disease and provide for those who are in isolation by bringing supplies to 2,500 people by March 31.
There is still no cure for Ebola, so prevention and early care are key. Families and at-risk groups in quarantined areas have no access to food, clean water or disinfectants - all necessary to fighting the disease and preventing malnutrition.
"These simple items may be the difference between life and death for thousands of people in Sierra Leone," said Wayne Pederson, president, Reach Beyond. "Every bucket delivered is given in Jesus' name, sharing His love at a time when those in the most ravaged areas are desperate for physical help and spiritual hope."
Pederson said every $100 gives a five-member family life-sustaining food and supplies to survive for up to four weeks in isolation. Every bucket provides physical help and spiritual hope to those in need. The buckets contain food, soap, gloves, bleach and other vital supplies.
The World Health Organization has reported there have been 22,000 cases and 8,800 Ebola deaths in West Africa. The virus has sickened more than 800 health workers and killed more than 400 - a massive total for a region that has few hospitals, doctors and nurses.
"The Bucket Brigade is one of the best ways to try to get out in front of the Ebola virus. The outbreak has been unprecedented, and containment is the best way to stop the spread of the disease - it is invaluable to help bring this to an end," said Sheila Leech, vice president of global healthcare.
Donations can be sent through the Bucket Brigade website www.reachbeyond.org/ebola, by calling 1-800-873-4859 or by mailing Reach Beyond at 1065 Garden of the Gods Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80907-3405.
As an additional gift, those who donate of $35 or more will receive a free "Make Ebola Kick the Bucket" T-shirt.
The campaign also helps people spread the word through a special toolkit that includes images, icons, posters, badges and more. Churches and other organizations can create Facebook pages, church bulletin announcements and other items by going to the website and clicking the "Download the Tools" button.
For 83 years the passion of Reach Beyond (formerly HCJB Global) (www.reachbeyond.org) has been to make disciples of Christ. Using mass media, healthcare and education and working with partners around the world, Reach Beyond has ministries in more than 100 countries. Together with partners, the gospel is aired in more than 120 languages and dialects. Thousands of healthcare patients are meeting Jesus. Local believers are being trained as missionaries, pastors, broadcasters and healthcare providers.

About HIGHROADIII
In a world where conformity is king and following the crowd is practically a survival instinct, the women of HIGHROADIII, an award-winning Appalachian gospel group from Nashville who just happen to be the best of friends, too, have always preferred the road less traveled.
And so it’s fitting that the trio’s new album, which also features the girls’ inventive instrumentation, would bear the same name. Filled with the beautiful, haunting melodies and vocals that have been the group’s hallmark, Sarah Davison, Anna Grace Shideler and Kiley Phillips, all graduates of Belmont University’s prestigious School of Music, feel the songs from The Road Less Traveled reflect their personal journey of being set apart.
HIGHROADIII has a stunning five nominations of which four came from industry insiders and one from the fans. It is quite an accomplishment to be honored by your peers showing the respect they have earned in a few short years.

More information on the 2015 Absolutely Gospel Music Awards Celebration will be coming shortly, including hosts, performers, and sponsors, etc. The date for this year’s Absolutely Gospel Music Awards Celebration is Tuesday, April 14, 2015. The event will again take place at the River of Life Church in Smyrna, Tennessee. Ticket information will be forthcoming.
The Absolutely Gospel Music Awards, often called the "finest” awards in the industry have been presented since 2002 by AbsolutelyGospel.com. The award nominations are chosen by the staff of AbsolutelyGospel.com and other select industry professionals, and most of the winners are then chosen by the fans of the genre and readers of the site. In 2005, AbsolutelyGospel.com held its first AGM Music Awards Celebration which brought in all the artists, industry professionals, and fans for an official awards ceremony. In 2006, AbsolutelyGospel.com held a contest for the readers to name the statue that is presented to the winners at the Awards Celebration, in which "Ovation" was chosen as the winner. The Ovations are handed out on the second Tuesday in April every year.
