Gaither Homecoming Artist Gene McDonald Signs Extensive Publicity Agreement With AG Publicity

Nashville, TN (June 7, 2013) Renowned Bass singer and Gaither Homecoming Artist Gene McDonald has signed an extensive publicity agreement with AG Publicity.
Deon Unthank, President of AG Publicity said “We are so excited to welcome the caliber of talent that Gene brings to not only our company, but to the Gospel Music arena itself. Not only is Gene the best Bass singer in Southern Gospel Music, but he is just one of the nicest guys you could ever want to meet.”
Gene McDonald started his career with his family group singing tenor. He then sang tenor with Jack Campbell and the Ambassadors through his school years. “One day I woke up and my voice was a couple of octaves lower and I was a bass singer.” commented Gene about his low vocal abilities.
While at Arkansas State University, he studied under one of the leading choral directors in the nation, Al Skoog. He later went to Ben Speer School of Music.
In 1989, Gene began singing with the Plainsmen Quartet and toured with them until 1992. He later went on to sing and record hits with the Florida Boys, touring from 1998 to 2007. Gaither Productions invited Gene to join the Homecoming Family for his first taping in 1994. He currently still travels with the Homecoming Friends across the globe.
Gene has been asked to sing bass for a couple of trios wanting a bass singer for certain songs, including the Booth Brothers and Greater Vision.
Director of Client Relations, Pamela Unthank noted “Gene and Teri McDonald were two of the first people I met at NQC in my official introduction to Southern Gospel Music. I have always liked them personally and have found them to be people of integrity, so I am thrilled to have the privilege of representing them on a professional level.”
Gene stated “I have been aware of the quality of work the Unthanks have been doing in the industry, so I am looking forward to this joint venture with them.”

About Gene McDonald
Gene McDonald began singing early in life, singing tenor with his family. Which included his dad, mother and his sister, traveling across the Midwest from 1968 to 1980. He went on to sing with Jack Campbell and the Ambassadors. In 1982 that tenor voice changed to flourishing bass.

Gene has a great gift and one of the richest voices ever heard. Noted by Bill Gaither as the Dean of all Bass’, Gene is held at high esteem for being the best in the circuit. However, he is MORE than just the best Bass singer. He does have the most prominent Bass voice, but he is by far, one of the “best singers” to ever grace the stage. God has given this man a great gift, a great talent.

  1. Congratulations!
As a Bass myself (rooted in Southern Acapella Gospel, as well as Classically trained) it is one of my dreams to work with the esteemed Bill Gaither!
Prayerfully, one day it shall come to fruition!
