The Lore Family Releases “For I Have Learned” to National Radio

{EHA-Nashville, TN} The popular Lore Family broadens their reach this month with For I Have Learned going out on SCM Vol. 22.

Radio promoter, Jim Robinette, with SCM says, “The Lore Family is an exciting group with great family harmony. They really believe in what they sing and it’s a joy to work with them!”

The Ohio based group has also had much success with Darren’s song, Come On and Praise Him that reached #44 on the Singing News Top 80 and most recently, Wait for the Dust to Settle continues to climb the charts.

As the group becomes more recognized on a national level, their concert dates continue to expand into new territories like this month into the Carolinas and beyond. This is exciting for the group because such events as the “Back to School Revival” taking place Aug. 26, 10 a.m., at Indian Hills Baptist Church in Blufton, SC. will include Darren preaching and the group singing.

The group consists of Darren and wife, Sandy; and children Fayth and Samuel. They will be attending National Quartet Convention in September where they will be busy doing radio and television interviews. They will be featured in a Regional Artist Showcase on Wednesday, September 12 in the Expo Center adjoining Freedom Hall.

They look forward to seeing friends and fans and extend a welcome to come see them in booth #508.

A Busy Month For Karen Peck and New River

New River News Blast August 20, 2012

Hey Friends!

It has been a very busy month! We had the honor and privilege of performing one last time at the Georgia Mountain Center in our hometown of Gainesville, Ga. I can remember when it was built! We have been there many times over the years. Brenau College has purchased it and will use it for other purposes. So...no more concerts after this year! Thanks to all of you who came out to share this special time with us. You are true friends! Also, congrats to Stanley Pierce and the St. Jude's Hospital for the money that was raised.

The following Monday, after Gainesville, we flew to London, England for a couple of fun days. With very little sleep, we toured most of London. We were not able to go to the Olympics, but we saw a lot of athletes walking around. And yes...it was crowded! My favorite place was Westminster Abbey. It was so awesome standing in the same places where Kings and Queens and other important people had stood. At the end of the tour, we lit candles and prayed. It was a very special time.

After London, we flew to Sweden to perform during the weekend along with Wes Hampton, Charlotte Ritchie, Woody Wright, and the Taylors. Each concert was amazing! Even though we had an interpreter, it was awesome to experience how when the anointing of the Lord showed up, the language barriers fell to the ground. We literally had revival in Sweden! (It was a great trip, except for the part where the airlines lost Jeff's and my luggage on the flight home. However, we did get it the next day.)

Our hearts are saddened by the sudden passing of our good friend/songwriter, Stephen Hill. Stephen wrote "Why Can't All God's Children Get Along?" and several other hits in gospel music. He is seen in all of the Bill and Gloria Gaither Homecoming videos. He will be missed.

As always, we want to say a special 'thanks' to all of the DJ's for playing our music. "Good Things Are Happening" has debuted at #34 on the Southern Gospel Music charts! Congrats to writers, Sonya Isaacs and Wayne Haun. Also thanks to all of you for calling your local radio station and requesting it!!

A reminder, Abraham Production's Gatlinburg Gathering, Labor Day Weekend (August 30-September 2). Gatlinburg Civic Center, Gatlinburg, Tn. For ticket information: 1-888-238-6858 or www.abrahamproductions.net

Be sure to check our schedule. We would love to see you! Please continue to pray for us! God is faithful!

Love and prayers,
Karen

Today's Teens--Connected Online . . . and Lonely. New Book 'Alone' Explains Why

NEW BOOK—‘ALONE’—SHINES LIGHT
ON ISOLATION OF E-CONNECTED TEENS
Teen Expert Andy Braner . . on the Irony
Of History’s Most Connected Generation; Debuting Oct. 15

“Andy exposes teens’ sense of isolation in the age of technogy. Intriguing and insightful, this book is for teens and parents alike.”
Jordin Sparks Amercian Idol Winner, Star of SPARKLE

DURANGO, Colo. — Aug. 20, 2012 — Is America’s most connected generation also its loneliest? In his surprising new book, Alone—Finding Connection in a Lonely World, teen expert Andy Braner exposes the irony that history’s most technologically “available” generation feels intensely isolated and left out. Alone debuts Oct. 15.

“How can I get to a point where I’m not so alone?” Braner quotes a high school quarterback—accomplished, popular, connected.

Founder and director of Camp KIVU near Durango, Colo., Braner spends his days and years with teens. Annually he speaks to more than 80,000 high school and college students in schools and conferences in the U.S. and abroad. Beautiful images of their friends online, Braner says, are killing teens’ acceptance of ordinary life—and of themselves. Yes, the online “perfection” is crafted, but in their formative years when teens crave fitting in, they compare themselves to Facebook “friends” and frequently despair.

One now-well-known young person who heard and understood Andy’s message agrees.

"Attending Andy’s camp for nine years and knowing his family even longer helped me through some of my hardest times,” said American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, now starring in the major film SPARKLE. “Now, in Alone, Andy exposes teens’ sense of isolation in the age of technology. Intriguing and insightful, this book is for teens and parents alike."

Far from an anti-tech rant, Braner writes Alone to and for today’s plugged-in generation. The book, from TH1NK, an imprint of NavPress, urges teens to use technology for what it can do—and to know what it can undo.

“The price of dazzling real-time access is our growing inability to relate to real people at a human level,” Braner said. “Networking is fast and near-infinite. New access to old friends blows our minds. But real-life relationship building may soon be a dinosaur.”

In Alone, Braner raises challenging points:

One in five teens battle depression.
Of teens fighting depression, 30 percent will fight substance abuse.
Suicide is the third-leading cause of death for young people age 15 to 24.
Then, in the face of sobering stats, Braner offers clear hope for real connection.

“God gave you a purpose, a reason and even specific tools for you to partner with Him in this world to change it in the ways He intended,” Braner writes. “When you realize what role you have to play here on the planet, the most beautiful sense of belonging begins to awaken inside your soul. The world begins making sense.”

Alone takes on the causes for teen isolation: fear of rejection; battles with a variety of addictions; seeking fulfillment sideways—in sex, wild behavior, cliques; and more. In contrast, Braner says, as unique individuals, we’re created to complement each other in community.

“If you truly want relief from the isolation you feel from day to day, get in a community,” Braner said. “Take time to encourage people in their gifts, and by doing so you create trust. Trust begets trust, and soon the people you’re encouraging give the same gift back to you.”

Alone—Finding Connection in a Lonely World speaks in a language teens understand. It frames their lives from one whose life work is to be there with them. Braner pulls no punches with the Facebook generation . . . and boldly offers new hope for real connection.

About Andy Braner

Andy Braner—sometimes called the teen whisperer—is a leading thinker on today’s Christian worldview, particularly on behalf of teens. . . and how theology can live out in complex young lives. The founder of Camp KIVU near Durango, Colo., an international speaker and author, Andy is a fresh and exciting voice on reality faith.

EHSS Recap India Tour

From EHSS newsletter of August 20, 2012:

Greetings,

Well, friends of EHSS, get ready for a letter that will never be able to live up to the experience. Truly there are no words for the experience that we just had, I will try my best to find them. This is all about the marvelous outpouring of God’s love through and into EHSS last week as we toured the mostly-Hindu country of India. God enlightened us in a new and mighty way and I want to share it with you.

YOU all are the ones who have supported us with your prayers, love, purchases and attendance down through the years. You are invested in us and all this I’m about to share is credited to your accounts. You should be proud.

We arrived to one of the loudest and most crowded places I have ever seen. Color and smells abounded. People were everywhere. They were beautiful people who never seemed bothered by the traffic or the inconvenience of life. They were happy to be there in the early morning hours to meet us at the airport with banners, gifts and well wishes. Sweat was dripping off of them, but they wanted us to enter their country knowing that we were welcomed and loved. We were half a world away and a little apprehensive; they totally set us at complete ease.

After we entered the hotel and tried to catch up from the more than 20 hours of travel, we had a chance to see some of the city. St. Thomas is buried there and we visited his tomb and paid our respects to one of the 12 disciples who gave his life for the cause of Christ in India. I confess: I did not know this.
Seeing sight of poverty next door to opulence really had us all scratching our heads. The “haves” and the “have nots” could not be more noticeable anywhere than in India. We all felt horrible for any complaining we had ever voiced and vowed to never do it again. However, we had only just begun to see poverty.
The last day of our trip, we took a tour of the slums. I really don’t know what to say. To see this first hand and then to talk to these people was the hardest thing I’ve ever tried to do. I usually do not have a hard time saying something for the moment I am in. But to these people who have absolutely nothing, I was at a lost. I told them the story of Jesus and how He would not let the disciples send the kids away. I told them how He said “this is the kingdom of God.” All I could say, as I looked at those dirty little faces, was “YOU are the Kingdom of God; He loves you and He knows your name. You’re not forgotten to Him.”

We walked away and vowed to help. Eliminate? No, that will never ever happen on such a level as I see it. But I do know that to whom much is given, much is required. I have been given much and now that I know about this extreme poverty, I have to do something to eliminate as much HELL as I can this side of eternity and bring HEAVEN down to earth.

The wonderful people of Help a Child of India sponsored this trip. Without their efforts, we would not have been able to do the concerts. They are doing a great work. (more about them in a second.)

The actual concerts were AMAZING!
We did two wonderful shows that were basically sold out. Approximately 1,400 each night actually paid to hear us sing. And to be honest, that was one of my concerns in the beginning when we were invited by Samuel Nirmal of Help a Child of India. I asked him if he thought anyone would show up. He promised me there were many who knew our music because of YouTube and the Gaither videos.

So, it was a pleasure to perform for our brothers and sisters in the cities of Chennai and Bangalore. However, we received WAY MORE than we gave.

Our promoter, Samuel Nirmal of Help a Child of India, had this to say about our concerts and our time in India:

For most of us, this was the best concert we have ever been to in our life time and it is likely to remain that way – till you guys come back! Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, the giants of Southern Gospel music singing in aid of Help A Child of India has humbled me. I said this at the end of each concert and I will say it again. “What did we do to deserve this kind of blessing Lord? All I can say is, Thank You Jesus”.

One of the objectives of the concerts was to increase the awareness among the people of Chennai and Bangalore about the work of Help A Child of India. The concerts and the media coverage gave us excellent visibility.

On the financial front, by God’s grace, several sponsors came forward to support the two concerts. The ticket sale was good. In India, the organizers of most Gospel music concerts in the last decade have ended up with a financial deficit. It will be another week before we put all our numbers together. But our current estimate shows that we will have a modest surplus. That surplus will be used for children living in poverty and in difficult circumstances.

Hundreds of thousands of children in India need help - to be educated and to lead a life of dignity. 4,000 such children are waiting to be supported through Help A Child of India this year alone. If we do not step in at the right time, at least one generation of 4,000 families will lose its opportunity to come out of poverty. It only costs 500 Indian rupees (less than $10) a month or 6,000 Indian rupees (about $110) a year, to sponsor one child. If each fan of EHSS pledges to sponsor one child, the need for the year will be fully met now. Online payment using credit cards, may be made at www.ehss.haci.in

Here is their website home page http://www.helpachildofindia.org/ Check them out – and help them as they continue to help the children of India. They do amazing work!

I know there are hurting people in our country and I know times are tough all around, but people, listen up: America has not seen ANYTHING like this. I pray it never does.

So, where do I leave this e-mail? I leave it with asking you to pray for your brothers and sisters in India. Pray for Help A Child Of India. Pray that God would provide for them. Ask our Father, “What can we do?”

If you want to see more pictures of our concerts and all our travels, and you have a Facebook account, make sure to “LIKE” our Fan page which you’ll find HERE. The whole tour is well-documented and pictures, video and press clips abound. Even the Hindu newspaper did a feature review of our show and gave it a stellar review.

Like I said, these words do not even touch what we saw and what we felt by the Spirit of God. Jesus walks in those lowly places. I felt pity and yet I saw love for the sweetest people I have ever met. I leave you with these words from
Isaiah 61:1 –

“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.”

I do not know where this will lead us my friends, but EHSS will never be the same. We must use what we have to bring heaven down to earth more and more and let the business get out of the way for a new level of heavenly business. Pray for me as I lead and listen to what is being birthed in my heart.

Oh What A Savior He Is,
Ernie

IBMA Announces Nancy Cardwell as New Executive Director

August 17, 2012

The Board of Directors of the International Bluegrass Music Association is pleased to announce that it has appointed Nancy Cardwell as the organization’s Executive Director.

“After an extensive selection process that began with more than 65 applications for the position, the Board concluded that Nancy brings the right mix of skills to the table and will be able to take the organization to the next level of success,” said Board chair Stan Zdonik.

Cardwell, who has been serving as the IBMA’s interim Executive Director since the beginning of March, takes on the top job after 17 years as the IBMA’s Special Projects Director.

“Nancy is deeply connected to the bluegrass music community,” Zdonik noted, “and her experience in the IBMA office makes her uniquely prepared to take on the added duties of Executive Director. She is forward-thinking and has the right outlook to take us into the future. Her respect for the roots of the music, combined with her appreciation of the next generation, will guide the organization through the challenging times ahead.”

Cardwell grew up in the Missouri Ozarks in a family bluegrass band. Before joining the IBMA staff in 1994 she worked as a Spanish and English teacher, a Field Executive for the Dogwood Trails Girl Scout Council in Springfield, Mo., and a freelance musician and journalist based in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. and Branson, Mo. A graduate of Leadership Bluegrass (2000) and Leadership Music (2009), Cardwell holds an Education degree from Northwest Missouri State University and was the 2006 recipient of the Charlie Lamb Award for Excellence in Country Music Journalism. Her book, The Words & Music of Dolly Parton, Country's Iron Butterfly, was published by ABC-Clio in July 2011.

"It's an honor to continue to serve on the IBMA team in this new role as we work together for the future of bluegrass music," Cardwell said. "I'm blessed with a creative and hard-working staff and board of directors, as well as a community of members from across the country and around the globe, who are passionate about the greatest music in the world. I look forward to seeing many of you at World of Bluegrass in Nashville, Tenn. Sept. 24-30, at our annual Business Conference/ Awards Show/ Bluegrass Fan Fest/ Music Family Reunion!"

Facebook’s First Game on the Life of Jesus hits 1 MILLION players, launches in 4 new languages

‘JOURNEY OF JESUS: THE CALLING’ HITS 1 MILLION PLAYERS,LAUNCHES IN 4 NEW LANGUAGES
Facebook’s First Game on the Life of Jesus Crosses Cultural Borders With Language Options

LightsideGames.com

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Aug. 16, 2012 – Journey of Jesus: The Calling hit nationwide news in May as the first social game, on Facebook, on the life of Jesus. Now only three months later, the game announces 1 million players and a total of nine languages.

At its launch, Journey of Jesus featured English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German versions. Today users speaking Turkish, Indonesian, Russian, and Tagalog, can also play in their native tongues.

"Journey of Jesus is in more languages than a standard game because it’s more than a game. It’s meant to go more places and do more than games typically do,” Brent Dusing, Lightside Games founder and CEO said. “The importance of putting the message of Jesus in someone’s native language is critical. When I lived in Africa I learned that to speak to a person in his native language is to speak to his heart."

Users log onto Facebook, type Journey of Jesus: The Calling into the search bar, register and enter a world of high-quality graphics, music, game play and the latest social features. Each player begins a biblically accurate quest through New Testament times and the life of Jesus; hidden items and clues advance the player through the story.

The country of Turkey, with a population of 73.5 million ranks sixth among Facebook users with 30.8 million people on the site. By comparison, the United States, with 330 million people, claims the top spot with 155 million users. Whether a country is predominately Christian or not, Dusing sees interest.

“There’s a curiosity about Jesus,” Dusing said. “People from all different nations and creeds want to know more about Him. Journey of Jesus is a way for people to have fun and explore answers to questions they have about Jesus and his claims to be God.”

As it inaugurates new languages, Lightside will introduce a friendly competition to gain players. When a nation reaches a given number of users, every player in that country receives a reward item commemorating a prominent local Christian landmark. (With new online tools, players can track user growth by country and monitor progress toward the goal.)

Along with its first social game, Journey of Moses, which launched in 2011, Lightside Games now reach 3 million people worldwide. And it is grabbing the interest of Silicon Valley. Journey of Jesus: The Calling now counts investor Tim Draper of Draper Associates among its backers. Draper is known as one of the early investors in Skype, Tesla and Hotmail.

DALLAS – Aug. 14, 2012 – iGivings—the nation’s largest developer of mobile application platforms for churches—announces the launch of a groundbreaking new app with an unprecedented array of features connecting the community at Gateway Church in North Texas and its 24,000 members.

“Gateway Church is all about people, and this state-of-the-art app was designed to empower users with superior tools, all at their fingertips, that enhance their Christian experience and help them lead more fulfilling lives,” iGivings CEO Yuri Gorzey said.

CHECK OUT THE APP: SEARCH “GATEWAY CHURCH” AT iTUNES OR GOOGLE PLAY

Gateway’s mobile app debuted last month with a first-ever combination of more than 30 features (tailored to Gateway needs) for today’s “smart phone” generation. Feature highlights:

One click takes users directly to referenced verses in the app’s Bible. Experience the fastest way to follow along with your pastor and stop getting lost in his message because you were too busy flipping through pages.

“The one thing people walk out of church with is their phone,” Gorzey said. “To the question, ‘Are we effectively meeting our people where they are?’ iGivings equips churches to share, teach and reach in the ways their people already are communicating.”

Most American cell subscribers now have smart phones, a 2012 Nielsen study reports. Gorzey adds that all iGivings mobile solutions are designed with strategy behind them, combining the best business practices to help churches grow, increase communications with their members and increase donations. “I AM . . . GABRIEL shows what happens when people turn to God in prayer and start to trust Him for the circumstances in their lives,” said Norris, who also co-wrote and acts in the film. “The mystery of faith comes to life and encourages every viewer to see God at work in every little detail.”

Starring Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman), John Schneider (The Dukes of Hazzard, Smallville) and Gavin Casalegno in his breakout role as the title character, I AM . . . GABRIEL opens in present day Promise, Texas, a town parched for rain and hope, whose citizens feel cursed after a tragedy 10 years earlier. Then a young boy wanders out of the wilderness into the lives of the beleaguered residents. Miracles start to happen. Some believe and find hope. Some don’t and grow desperate. Some see a messenger from God, others a runaway kid, a huckster. Finally, as the town’s last skeptic backs him into a corner, the young boy reveals his identity. I AM . . . GABRIEL is a story of faith that leads to real hope, regardless of circumstances.

Produced by 2nd Fiddle Entertainment and Heaven’s Promise Productions, I AM . . . GABRIEL is distributed by EchoLight Studios.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be distributing stories created by inspirational filmmakers like Mike Norris,” EchoLight Chief Global Strategist Christopher Morrow said. “And it is so encouraging to be in development with Mike on another EchoLight Studios project slated for production in 2013."

I AM . . . GABRIEL can be pre-ordered now with deliveries and immediate sales starting Aug. 28. The film is available through such leading online and retail providers as Amazon.com, LifeWay Christian Stores, Family Christian Stores, among many others.

Synopsis of The Bridge

An unforgettable love story set against the demise of the American bookstore, The Bridge {Howard Books / October 23rd / 9781451647013} is a story for the times, and figures to be Kingsbury’s biggest book to date. For three decades The Bridge bookstore connected the people of Franklin, Tenn., with cherished stories and with Charlie and Donna Barton, the store’s owners. And the store connected them to each other. But not all stories that started at The Bridge had a happy ending. Five years earlier, Molly and Ryan were two college students united in a shared faith, love of music and an undeniable attraction to each other. But the two were separated by circumstances that cut their story short and left them with what figured to be a lifetime of questions. When a hundred-year flood devastates the town, it nearly destroys The Bridge, crushing Charlie’s spirit and causing him to doubt whether his work in books really mattered. Then as Christmas approaches, a sudden tragedy strikes and all hope seems lost. Molly and Ryan return to Franklin, neither of them expecting to see the other and both of them needing a miracle. Can the people of Franklin rally around The Bridge and find the second chances they all need? The Bridge is a story that will remind you that your love for books matters. It is a story for our times, one that will stay in your heart forever.

In addition to being a #1 New York Times and USA Today best-seller, Kingsbury is an award-winning author, receiving the Book of the Year Award from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association for Ever After and the Gold Medallion Award for Oceans Apart. Her book Like Dandelion Dust was turned into a theatrical film starring Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino.

The Bridge releases Oct. 23, 2012.

Melody Walker Releases 'Gold Rush Goddess' & Announces National Tour

BAY AREA TALENT MELODY WALKER RELEASES ‘GOLD RUSH GODDESS,’
ANNOUNCES COAST-TO-COAST TOUR WITH JACOB GROOPMAN

Aug. 28 release follows RockyGrass festival band competition win

AUSTIN, Texas — Melody Walker’s debut album, GOLD RUSH GODDESS, will be released nationally Aug. 28, but she and partner Jacob Groopman already have reason to celebrate: With their band Front Country, they won the band competition at RockyGrass, the July festival founded 40 years ago by bluegrass icon Bill Monroe.

Walker and Groopman are now spreading the sound they like to call “Americali” on a nationwide tour that includes stops at Aug. 22’s Jerry Garcia Tribute Concert in Berkeley and in Nashville for September’s Americana Music Festival & Conference. (See below for a list of tour dates, or check melodywalkermusic.com.)

Walker, a Bay Area native, and Groopman, raised in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, describe “Americali” as Americana with a California twist, but just as Americana melds many influences, their music draws from diverse genres including bluegrass, rock, jazz, classical, Afrobeat, samba and even Balkan folk. They never stray too far from their American folk roots, however, preferring to create literate music that honors tradition, yet sounds completely of the moment.

Led by the title track and “Family Band,” GOLD RUSH GODDESS is already drawing high praise. The Turnstyled Junkpiled blog calls it “easily one of the strongest Americana releases of 2012.” No Depression claims, “Melody Walker has created an album of exceptional tunes.” And influential Bay Area radio station KPFA-FM raves, “She kicked it out of the ballpark on this album!”

Walker and Groopman co-produced the album, recorded in a historic former general store on a remote cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. But now, they’re ready to spread Americali from sea to shining sea. And this is one gold rush you’re gonna want to get in on right now.

Ernie Haase and Signature Sound in India

From EHSS Email Newsletter August 13, 2012:

Hey there E-Team Members ...

Happy Monday to everyone! As I sit here writing this newsletter the guys are finishing up their last day in India and they will be leaving tonight (tomorrow morning in India) to fly home to their families. Please pray for a safe journey home.

This trip has been sponsored by Operation Mobilization (www.om.org) who sees their role in the church "... is to mobilise people to share the knowledge of Jesus and His love with every generation in every nation. OM pioneers and leads initiatives to redeem lives, rebuild communities and restore hope in over 110 countries."

What the guys have seen and heard during the trip has changed them forever and it will be a real watershed moment in their lives ... they'll never be the same!

We've received many reports back here in North America and needless to say the trip has been a tremendous success! The guys are leaving with brightened spirits, renewed minds and souls and extremely full hearts.

Large groups of people were there to greet them at the airports in Chennai and Bangalore with flowers and gift shawls, children sang for them, people danced for them, both venues were completely sold out and many concert attendees told stories of how the music of Ernie Haase and Signature Sound has been blessing them and will continue to bless and uplift them even thousands of miles away on a completely different contintent... the guys are completely overwhelmed with their experience!

The people were extremely warm, friendly and hospitable and could not have made the entire group feel more welcome in their country!

Isn't that just like God though??? We go to a completely different country to see people we have never met and you're always a little nervous anticipating how things might all come together. When you stand back after it's all over, however, you realize it was like you've walked into a big family reunion where people just love you and make you feel right at home ...

I gotta believe this is EXACTLY what heaven will be like!!!

Thank you to all the great fans in India, you have a special place in our hearts and we won't soon forget you!!

Have an incredible week everyone ...

Michael Berg
Web Admin (EHSS)

P.S. If you would like to see pictures and video of the trip to India please "Like" our Facebook page and stay up to date on what EHSS is up to at the same time!

P.P.S The guys will have a well deserved bit of time resting and recuperating when they get home and they'll be on the road again ... Please see all our upoming dates below and be sure to view our Full Tour Schedule at www.erniehaase.com ...

Sharron Kay King In Studio Recording First New Album in Five Years

BYRON, Ga. – (August 10, 2012) – 2012 Absolutely Gospel Music Award nominee Sharron Kay King is in the studio this week recording vocals for her first studio-recording in over five years. The new recording, titled This Story of My Life, is the follow-up to her latest project Don’t Stop Believing.

This Story of My Life is being produced by Mike Pillow (Ricky Atkinson & Compassion, Naomi Sego, Ann Downing) and has a tentative release date of this fall.

“This record has definitely been a labor of love for me,” mentioned Sharron Kay. “God has brought me through so much over the last few years, and this recording is a testimony to the things that He has done in my life. I am so excited for everyone to hear the songs that were birthed from this time of my life.”

Sharron wrote or co-wrote 10 of the 12 tracks including the title cut. Other writers and co-writers included award-winning writers Steve & Annie Chapman, John Robinson, Becky Wright, Chris Binion, and Sharron’s son-in-law Sean Anderson.

“So many of these songs mean so much to me,” replied Sharron. “I got to collaborate on ‘Alabaster Box’ with my daughter Liz who used to travel and sing with me many years ago. Also, ‘She’d Rather Be Here With Me’ was given to me by Steve & Annie Chapman and reflects the story of my mother and her recent passing.”

More information on the new recording including a definitive release date, the first single, and some other surprise appearances will be announced at a later date.

Sharron has been singing and speaking at ladies retreats and recovery groups more frequently this year due to her amazing testimony of God’s redeeming power and grace. For information on how you can book Sharron at your church or event, visit http://www.sharronkayking.com.

Sharron recently released her latest single to radio. The new song, titled “Look Up,” is the fifth single released from King’s Don’t Stop Believing. “Look Up” was written by Eric Horner and was just released to Southern Gospel radio through Eddie King & Crown Communications.

All four of Sharron’s previous singles from Don’t Stop Believing landed in the Top 20 on the AbsolutelyGospel.com Top 40 Weeky Chart – the industry’s most watched weekly radio report in Southern Gospel music.

Sharron was honored earlier this year to see their name among the 10 nominees for Fan Favorite Artist of the Year in the highly-respected Absolutely Gospel (SGN) Music Awards. This is the second time in her career that Sharron has been nominated for an Absolutely Gospel Music Award. She was previously nominated in 2007 in the Country Album of the Year category for her The Road I Know project.

More information as well as booking information on Sharron Kay King can be found at http://sharronkayking.com. Fans can visit Sharron on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sharron-Kay-King-Official-Fan-Page/102290253148210 .

NEWS
July 27, I had the opportunity to sing for the USAGEM “God and Country Jubilee!” in Nashville, TN. Sandi Kay joined me on a couple of tunes. Rev. Harry and Joanne Cash Yates, Tank Tackett and Dottie Snow Tubb and many other artists were present.

Rosie had to stay with her sitter a few weeks ago. We received a photo of her in their swimming pool. Now she runs to their house whenever she can sneak out the door.

We have been to Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama and are headed back to these states soon. My 82 year old dad, who has a bad heart, had emergency bladder surgery in Indiana two weeks ago. He is now in rehab until he gets stronger. Please keep him in your prayers.

We just spent the weekend in a cabin at Elizabethtown Crossroads Campground. Keith and Carol Nichols, the proprietors, are great and I also sang there Saturday evening. “Don’t worry,” Rick could still use his blow dryer, but those walks to the bathroom in the middle of the night were a challenge.

We are again invited to stay at The Cedars Plantation B&B in Munford, AL. It is beautiful and is ran by a great couple, Cindy and Greg Horton. Sit on a porch and Smoky (the cat) might greet you.

I’ve been busy writing new songs. I can’t wait for you to hear them.

A LITTLE HUMOR:

The poor country pastor was livid when he confronted his wife with the receipt for a $250 dress she had bought. "How could you do this!" he exclaimed. "I don't know," she wailed, "I was standing in the store looking at the dress on sale. Then I found myself trying it on. It was like the Devil was whispering to me, 'Gee, you look great in that dress. You should buy it.'" "Well," the pastor persisted, "You know how to deal with him! Just tell him, "Get behind me, Satan!" "I did," replied his wife, "but then he said "It looks great from back here, too."
love to all,
Rick

Mercy's Well Brad Strider Celebrates Birthday

MW News: IN and OH Review and NC Preview
From Mercy's Well news August 10, 2012

God is good, all the time! We hope you can say that in confidence today, no matter what you may be going through in your life. We have experienced so much of His goodness over the last few weeks, it's hard to keep it all in! There are some exciting things on the horizon for Mercy's Well, and we look forward to sharing them very soon!

Our owner/manager/tenor, Brad, who started this ministry 11 years ago, celebrated a birthday on Sunday while we were in Indiana and Ohio. Good Shepherd UMC in Ft Wayne, IN was our place of worship for Sunday morning, where we led worship for all three of their morning services.

One of the ladies graciously prepared lunch for us, and even put a candle on some strawberry shortcake for Brad so he could blow it out and make a wish! Sunday night took us to Defiance, OH where we sang at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. These folks are some of the sweetest we have had the privilege of getting to know over the years, and we enjoyed getting to meet their new pastor and his family.

A great weekend in the Central states, now looking forward to a couple of NC weekends!

Have a great week, and God Bless!

In Christ,
Brad, Greg & Kyle

Gold City Extends Voting for NQC Song Line Up

From Gold City E-News August 9, 2012

WEEKEND REWIND

It was a busy weekend for the Gold City bus. We headed to Joplin, MO for a concert to benefit tornado victims who were devastated by last year’s storms there. There we were joined by our friends, The Mike LeFevre Quartet, for this great evening. Then we headed to Gainesville, GA for another big night of gospel music with Karen Peck and New River, the Whisnants and the Nelons. This was a fund-raiser for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Sunday, we rounded out the weekend singing for the fine folks in Greenville, KY at Carter Creek Baptist Church. Keep watching our schedule and make plans to be with us soon!

A BIG SHOUT OUT

We want to thank our former bus driver, Kevin Owens, for jumping back into the driver’s seat for us this past weekend. As you can see by our weekend rewind above, we had some major ground to cover from one date to the next, and it was such a blessing to have an extra driver on board. Thanks, Kevin!

HAVE YOU VOTED

The contest in full swing to see what songs Gold City will be performing on Wednesday night of NQC. We are accepting your suggestions throughout the month of August, and will be performing the top vote-getters on the All-Quartet night at the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, KY on September 12th. Email us your three favorite Gold City songs you’d like to hear us perform that evening. Send your submission to goldcitynqcsongs@gmail.com.

DON’T FORGET

We have several great things coming up on the tour schedule, so be sure you check out our full list of dates at www.goldcityqt.comor www.bsaworld.com. Keep in mind that we will be sailing on the Branson Belle later this month, and then in January we’re cruising to Jamaica!!

WE ARE REMODELING

Gold city is in the process of rebuilding our website. Be looking for a fresh new format and new features soon!

LORD OF LIFE

Our latest radio single, Lord of Life, continues to bless and encourage people everywhere we go. It is so easy to get caught up in life with its trials and challenges. We all face things that are hard to overcome. But the good news is that Jesus overcame it all when He rose from the grave! Call your local radio station today and request them to play “Lord Of Life” that the message of hope would continue to reach those who so desperately need to hear it.

DANNY’S FAVORITE QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

"Most Christians are being crucified on a cross between two thieves: Yesterday's regret an tomorrow's worries." -Warren W. Wiersbe

WE LOVE AND APPRECIATE YOU

We know we say it a lot here on the e-newsletter, but we feel we have the very best fans anywhere and we thank you for supporting the music and ministry of Gold City. It is people like you who allow us to continue to carry the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ everywhere.

IBMA Grant Application Deadline Extended

FOUNDATION PLANS GRANTS IN MEMORY OF WARREN HELLMAN AND EARL SCRUGGS
Application Deadline Extended To August 22, 2012

Earl Scruggs was perhaps one of the only musicians in any genre who created the definitive sound of his instrument in the genre; banjo players around the world will forever identify the sound of the three-finger style of bluegrass banjo playing as “Scruggs style.” Warren Hellman was a visionary who created, funded and grew his California-based “Hardly Strictly Bluegrass” free event into one of the largest of its kind in the country. Mr. Hellman passed away on December 18, 2011, and Mr. Scruggs passed away on March 28, 2012.

“In remembrance of these two highly creative individuals—both who have left huge footprints in the performance and presentation of American music---we will allocate funds to foster innovation in the world of bluegrass music,” said Foundation president Greg Cahill. “We are very pleased to honor the memory of these brilliant men in this way.”

A fund of $8000 has been earmarked to support public projects that foster innovative development in the world of bluegrass music. Individual grants ranging from $2000-4000 will be given in memory of Earl Scruggs and Warren Hellman. Of special interest are bluegrass music-related projects and programs that involve education or youth.

This is a competitive application process and candidates must meet the Foundation’s Grant Application Guidelines. Grants awarded will be announced no later than October 1, 2012 with funds available after January 1, 2013.

Donations to the Foundation for these and related efforts are welcomed in any denomination, and these grants will be funded regardless of donations received.

The Foundation for Bluegrass Music is a non-profit (501c3) organization created to serve as an “umbrella” under which funds may be placed and disbursed to support educational, literary and artistic activities related to bluegrass music, of public benefit. Examples of programs that can grow under this umbrella include Bluegrass in the Schools (grants, workshops, programs); academic conferences; literary works and related efforts; public artistic presentation of an educational nature; historic preservation; and other works of a charitable nature.

For more info, please visit http://bluegrassfoundation.org/Grants.

DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR FUNDS IS AUGUST 22, 2012

Beyond The Ashes Welcomes Dustin Doyle to the BTA Family

Nashville, TN (August 6, 2012) – Dynamic male vocal trio, Beyond The Ashes, is pleased to announce the addition of their new lead singer, Dustin Doyle, to the ministry team of BTA.

Dustin comes to the group with a heart for ministry and a resume of qualifications, having graduated with a degree in Music Production from Bethel Univerrsity in McKenzie, TN.
He and wife of one year, Aubrey, met and married at Bethel. He is originally from Chalybeate, KY. Dustin has had a love for Gospel music all of his life.

Anthony Facello, ministry team leader and tenor singer, expresses, "Change is always a difficult thing. To say goodbye to someone who has become like family means we have to find someone to replace so much more than a singing voice. This can be a real challange. I cannot express how grateful we are that God led Dustin our way. He has an incredible singing voice, but most importantly, he and his wife, Aubrey, have a great heart for serving God. Dustin is fitting in wonderfully. We are so happy to wlecome him to BTA!"

To learn more about Beyond the Ashes or to schedule them for your music event, visit beyondtheashesonline.com. You can find them on Facebook at facebook.com/beyondtheashes and on Twitter @beyondtheashes1. You can also see them on YouTube at youtube.com/user/BeyondTheAshesTV and purchase their music on their website and on iTunes.

EHSS Newsletter from August 6, 2012:

Hey Friends,

What a wonderful weekend we had in Spartanburg, SC, High Point, NC and last night in the small town of McKee, KY. I am so proud of the guys and the way they maintain their level of desire, professionalism and heart in every situation. Having a standard is important to have, but to strive for that standard every day is something else.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. Colossians 3:23

That is EHSS's motto and we pray that you too find this as a source of motivation as you do the work you've been given to do today. Give it all to the Lord.

As we leave out for our trip to India, I wanted to remind you of our upcoming concerts here in the states (see below). To see the full schedule, click http://www.erniehaase.com/. Come out, bring a friend and spend an evening with EHSS. You will be glad you did…I promise.

Keep us in your prayers, especially this next week as your "Ambassadors of Joy" travel for the first time to the country of India.

Oh What A Savior!

Ernie
