The Torchmen Nominated for 2010 Gospel Music Awards Canada

The Torchmen have just been nominated in three catagories for the 2010 Gospel Music Awards Canada. "Enjoy the Journey" has been nominated for Album of the Year and the song "Gonna Get My Feet Wet" written by Dave Randall, has been nominated for Song of the Year. "The Torchmen Quartet 40th Anniversary" has also been nominated for DVD of the Year.

Freedom Embarks On First West Coast Tour

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. – (September 28, 2010) – Freedom, one of the most exciting new names in Christian music, are set to embark on their first West Coast tour. Starting this weekend on October 1, 2010, Freedom will begin their 11-day tour of the West Coast in Pomona, California. From there, the group will hit up such cities and locations as the Kern County Fair (outside Bakersfield, California), Fresno, and Fair Oaks, California before heading north where they will appearing in multiple venues in Oregon and Washington state.

John Rulapaugh of Freedom said, "I'm really excited to be headed west to sing in California, Oregon, and Washington. It's been a few years since the last time I was there with Palmetto State Quartet, and I've missed it! My first trip west was with the Dove Brothers back in 1999 or 2000, and I was privileged to travel there every year until I left the road in 2008. I'm excited to be bringing Freedom to the West! I look forward to seeing old friends, and hope to make a lot of new friends along the way."

The tour will run October 1st through October 10th, 2010 – the last stop being at Forth Plain Church in Vancouver, Washington. Several of the West Coast’s most popular Gospel artists will be appearing in concert with Freedom, including RSV Quartet, Cross Road Quartet, and Solid Ground.

This West Coast tour comes on the heels of the group’s first appearance at the National Quartet Convention where the group was asked to perform on the Main Stage as a stand out performer from the event’s day showcases.

Freedom’s schedule has already filled up this year including recent performances at industry events like the Suwanee River Jubilee, Branson Gospel Music Convention, 11th Annual SGN Music Fest, Grand Ole Gospel Reunion, and World Premier Gospel Event in Pigeon Forge, TN. Tony Greene Passes Away

Tony Greene of the Greenes passed away on Tuesday September 28 around 4:25pm. Tony was admitted to the hospital last week where he eventually lost the battle to an aggressive infection. He leaves behind his wife, TaRanda and two daughters, Isabella and Jocelyn; his mother Carolyn; brother Tim Greene, sister Kim Greene Hopper and families.

Tony Greene was 41 years old.

DAILEY & VINCENT PREPARE FOR IBMA AWARDS SHOW, BLUEGRASS FAN FEST AND HOMECOMING CONCERT

NASHVILLE, TENN. (September 27, 2010)—Dailey & Vincent, currently on the road on the Dailey & Vincent Front Porch Tour supported by Cracker Barrel Old Country Store®, will be in Nashville this week for the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) World of Bluegrass business conference, IBMA Awards and Bluegrass Fan Fest.

The reigning two-time IBMA Entertainers of the Year, who currently grace the cover of Bluegrass Music Profiles’ September/October issue, have ten nominations heading into the 21st Annual IBMA Awards, including Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, and Album of the Year (Dailey & Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers on Cracker Barrel/Rounder Records). Other nominations for the Rounder Records act include Song of the Year for “Elizabeth,” from the Statler Brothers tribute disc; Male Vocalist of the Year (Jamie Dailey); Bass Player of the Year (Darrin Vincent); Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year for “Don’t You Wanna Go to Heaven” from the duo’s a cappella CD, Singing From the Heart; and Recorded Event of the Year for “Give This Message to Your Heart,” from Larry Stephenson’s 20th Anniversary CD. Additionally, Dailey & Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers received a nod for Best Graphic Design for a Recorded Project, while Singing From the Heart was honored with a nomination for Best Liner Notes for a Recorded Project.

Dailey & Vincent will perform on the IBMA Awards show, hosted by Jerry Douglas and Sharon and Cheryl White, which will take place at the Ryman Auditorium on September 30 at 7:30 p.m. They will also perform during Bluegrass Fan Fest at the Nashville Convention Center on Friday, October 1, at 7:20 p.m. IBMA Awards show tickets are available by calling the Ryman box office at 615-889-3060. STEVE WARINER’S GUITAR CHRISTMAS AVAILABLE IN STORES FOR THE FIRST TIME ON OCTOBER 12

NASHVILLE, TENN. (September 27, 2010)—Just in time for the holidays, Steve Wariner and SelecTone Records will make his Guitar Christmas album available in stores and through iTunes and Amazon.com beginning October 12. Originally released in 2003, the instrumental collection of Christmas standards arranged, recorded, and produced by Wariner was previously available only through his Web site. Allegro Media Group, one of the largest independent distributors of music in North America, will handle distribution for this project.

“I absolutely loved recording this album,” Wariner says. “The initial idea came about as I was thinking of the wonderful gatherings that Chet Atkins would host in his office around the holidays. Everyone would sing and play and remember those beautiful melodies from our childhood.

“I wanted the album to convey the warmth and intimacy of those picking parties, so the listener will feel as if I’m sitting in their living room playing for them. That’s the reason I left some imperfections in there, because I wanted it to be real.”

Among the holiday standards included on the CD are “White Christmas,” “Silent Night,” “Winter Wonderland” and “The Christmas Song.” Wariner, who was born on Christmas Day, previously released one Christmas album on MCA Records, but this is his first all-instrumental holiday collection.

A Grammy®-winning guitarist, Wariner played several different guitars on the CD, matching certain guitars with particular songs and musical styles to create a broad landscape of aural textures and colors. Among the guitars he used are a handmade Hascal Haile classical guitar, the Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman model (1989), which had belonged to Chet, an Olympia dulcimer, a Tacoma Papoose, and Wariner’s own model Takamine acoustic guitar.
