Greensboro, NC – Over the past few years, multi-award winning singer, songwriter and author, Janet Paschal has taken a small step away from the musical career path she has been on for over three decades to adventure into the world of academia. Paschal began pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and recently the University’s Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter recognized Paschal for her outstanding scholastic achievement. The Chapter invited her to become a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for collegiate schools of business. This invitation is the highest international scholastic recognition offered by The Joseph M Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNC-Greensboro. The mission of Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to foster personal and professional excellence, to advance the values of the Society and to serve its lifelong members.
Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma places Paschal in a very select group and membership is restricted to outstanding scholars in institutions accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Only 2.8% of business schools worldwide have achieved accreditation in both business and accounting, as has The Joseph M Bryan School of Business and Economics.
Throughout her illustrious career, Paschal has received countless honors and accolades from the Gospel Music field. With more than a dozen recordings to her credit, the North Carolina native’s passion and vulnerability are most evident in her inspiring music. Her recordings have been recognized with numerous Grammy and Dove Award nominations, and she is consistently named among Gospel Music’s favorite soloists by the genre’s top trade magazines.
Born in Reidsville, North Carolina, Paschal has shared the stage with presidents and has been a featured artist on the popular Gaither Homecoming Tour and Video Series. She is featured on the two latest Gaither videos, Women of Homecoming, Volumes 1 & 2. After battling breast cancer in 2005, Janet resumed her touring schedule, including concerts, women’s conferences and cancer awareness events. In November, 2008, the popular singer released a brand new book, Treasures Of The Snow, which chronicles her triumphant battle with cancer and stories from three decades in Gospel music. Her first literary work, The Good Road became a best seller.
Although much of her time is focused on education these days, Paschal remains committed to her first love, music. She continues to enjoy singing and traveling as often as her schedule permits and is currently scheduling events throughout 2014 and 2015. Recently, she was featured at Gaither Fest with legendary singer/songwriter Bill Gaither and the Gaither Vocal Band in Ft Worth, TX.
