God is FAITHFUL to the FAITHFUL

Hello friends, we hope that everyone is doing well. 2nd Generation has been very busy and we are so thankful for the powerful services that we have been having. We are seeing souls saved, and lives changed and that is why we do what we do.

A few months back we had the honor of being the guest on the "Gospel Music Showcase" program on the Daystar network. We were in shock when we received the call from Daystar asking us to be their guest. We were like little kids in a candy store. We are just preachers kids from the Ozarks and being on TV is a "BIG DEAL" to us. HAHAHA...
I must say that we were treated like royalty from the minute we arrived in Dallas TX. It was an experience that we will never forget and we are forever grateful.

I know some of you were unable to watch the program when it aired, so I wanted to send you the link so you can watch it and hopefully be blessed.  If you enjoy it please let Daystar know that you enjoy the Gospel Music Showcase. We are thankful that they present Southern Gospel Music every week. To watch 2nd Generation on Gospel Music Showcase click the link below.

We are preparing to go back into the studio to record a new CD and we are excited about having a CD with Randy Barnes on it. We can't wait for you to hear our new songs. God is so good to us and we are so thankful for the calling upon our lives.  We are asking for your prayers as we continue to prepare for this recording. It takes finances and time to make this happen and we know that God will make it happen.

We love you and appreciate each of you and we can't do what we do without your prayers and support. Thank you for believing in 2nd G.

Always remember,  He is FAITHFUL to the FAITHFUL!!

2nd Generation Announces Addition of Randy Barnes

OAK GROVE, AR. – (January 6, 2014) –Diamond Award winning trio 2nd Generation is excited to announced the addition of Randy Barnes to the trio.

Randy Barnes, originally from Kirksville, Mo., grew up listening to Southern Gospel music, from groups such as the Blackwood Brothers, Statesmen, Jake Hess and the Imperials, Chuck Wagon Gang, and many others. He began singing in church at a very young age, and would occasionally join his sisters on the platform. After High School he joined the Air Force and eventually ended up in Louisiana where he attended Oakmont Church of God. There he joined up with a trio traveling from church to church on the weekends. A career change to law enforcement, and a move to Texas, limited the amount of travel Randy could do, so he sang in his local church as often as he could, but he also continued to sing with local and regional groups.
In 2008 Randy retired and began singing with The Voyagers Quartet out of Little Rock, Ar. He sang lead for the quartet, and God began opening several doors for the group and for Randy. During the 4+ years that he sang with the group, he also sang with the legendary Melody Boys Quartet whenever Gerald Williams needed a fill-in! While singing with the Voyagers, Randy felt God placing a calling on his life to move into a fulltime ministry. The only question Randy had was where…. Eventually, the answer came; 2nd Generation… The ministry-minded focus of Elaine and Brenda was exactly what Randy was looking for. Randy says, “We sang together a few times in rehearsal, then a couple of weekend concerts. It felt right, and God was doing some great things in the services!” “I am honored to be a part of 2nd Generation!”

Randy and his wife Linda have been married for 33 years and have one son, Michael. They have 2 grandchildren, and as of January 2014…one more on the way!! They now live in Cabot, Ar.
Randy has several favorite verses; but one of his favorites is: Isaiah 40:31

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

We are so excited about having Randy join 2nd G,” mentioned 2nd Generation’s Brenda Denney and Elaine Robinson. “We have been through a few changes over the years, but with every change God has taken 2nd G to a new level and we are expecting great things ahead”.

2nd Generation is in the process gathering new songs to fit the new trio and will be in the studio recording a new project soon. Until then be listening to Southern Gospel radio for a new 2nd Generation single to be released Jan 2014. All radio promotions are being done in-house for the group, so for more information on how to obtain the new single, please contact 2nd Generation.

2nd Generation Joining Legends On The Sea Cruise

From 2nd Generation Email Newsletter for August 2013:

Important “Legends On The Sea” News Update: Get $100.00 off the regular price if you book by August 31st. Hurry!!!

Throughout the Spring and Summer of this year, many people who have sailed with Carnival Cruise Lines in the past, have been inundated with cruise specials, appearing to be sent from Carnival Cruise Lines. In fact, the emails are coming from a company who purchases excess or unsold rooms from Carnival and then sales them back to previous customers at what appears to be discounted prices…prices that are by no means guaranteed by Carnival Cruise Lines.

Here’s how it works: You receive an email advertising a trip for what seems to be an inexpensive price. You go online to purchase and discover that you must purchase the ticket(s) by midnight that same evening or possibly lose the lower rate. Concerned it is expedient that you secure the room immediately, you purchase the tickets(s) unaware that in the fine print of the agreement, you are most likely receiving a low grade accommodation, with only the possibility of an upgrade by Carnival Cruise Lines, if available. The problem is…Carnival Cruise Lines did not have an agreement with you for a possible upgrade, only the company who sold you the ticket(s) and that upgrade might never materialize. If it does, of course it may cost you an additional price. In the end, all you’ve really purchased is a bare bones cruise that will charge you additional gratuities for your cabin services and every meal, not to mention additional taxes for each port your cruise has visited, all upon disembarking. These taxes and gratuities can easily reach into the $300.00 range and leave you feeling financially violated. And did I mention that these cruise advertisements do not include gospel music?

With a “Legends On The Sea” cruise, we make your accommodations with Carnival Cruise Lines, via the reputable “Interworld Travel Agency,” not some knockoff company. This means, every price is guaranteed and your gratuities & port taxes are included in the price of your cruise. This also means, what you pay up front, is all you’ll ever have to pay! There is never a worry about the room you’re getting…whichever room you select, that’s the room you’ll being staying in! If you should decide to upgrade your room, you’ll get an actual upgrade too! In addition, included in your cruise package, is the cost of each concert attendance where you’ll experience the finest in Gospel Music featuring your hosting legends, The Freemans, The Rambos, Larry & Jana Hinson, along with many other special guest singers, who all guarantee to make your cruise aboard Legends not only an exciting vacation, but a truly uplifting spiritual event! (See Brochure for list of artists…all guest artists subject to change.)

Regular “Legends On The Sea” cruise prices begin at $799.00 for a category 4B (Interior Cabin, Rivera deck.) But right now through the end of August 2013, get $100.00 off per passenger. This means you get this coming year’s cruise for the past year’s price of just $699.00 per person! Hurry, August will be over soon and so will this special! In addition, we’re working to extend the October deadline for full payment to November or December, allowing you more time to complete your cruise payment. You simply won’t find a better time to get on board with the “Legends On The Sea” cruise than today!

Put your $200.00 deposit down now and get ready for the cruise of a lifetime, then sit back and relax with no worries…your cruise is booked with Legends! Contact Sandy Berry at Interworld Travel here on facebook at interworldtravel@facebook.com or 4utravel@bellsouth.net, 1-800-993-8785, to book your reservations. Send $200.00 deposit per person for non-suite rooms and $250.00 deposit per person for all suite rooms to… The Freemans (checks and money orders payable to (Legends On The Sea,) at, PO Box 1581, Hendersonville, TN. 37075.

Make sure you tell them that 2nd Geneneration is your "HOST" group. We are looking forward to seeing many of you again, and meeting many new friends. This is going to be a GREAT cruise. Don't miss it!!!!!!

2nd Generation Single "One More River" Debuts on Singing News Top 80

Elaine and I are so exicted that our current radio single, "One More River", is doing GREAT on nationwide radio. We are so thankful that it debuted at #60 on the Singing News Top 80 for Jan 2013. Please call/email your favorite Southern Gospel radio station and request "One More River" by 2nd Generation.

We are standing on the word that was spoken over us back in Sept saying that He is taking us to a new level & not to worry about anything. God is so FAITHFUL to His children that will serve Him & we are thankful for that promise.

We are also coming to the 2012 year end and many of you may be looking to give a year end dontation for tax purposes. 2nd Generation is a 501c3, non-profit corporation, and any donation you give is tax deductible. When you sow a seed you want to make sure that it is going into good ground, and Elaine and I promise you that 2nd Generation is good ground that God is blessing.

There are a few things that we are needing for the ministry, the most important at this time would be new microphones, and we are hoping to purchase those in the very near future. Anyone that supports our ministry is playing an important part of getting the message of Gods love & salvation out to the world. Our prayer is that souls will be saved everytime we sing for Jesus.

If you are intersted in supporting 2nd Generation by giving a year end or monthly donation, please visit our website below and click on "donate" or contact us. We can't do what we do without the love and support of so many of you, but more than anything we need your prayers. We know that we know that God is FAITHFUL.

Until next time, keep looking up, for your redemption draweth nigh!

2nd Generation Aim For New Level

“New Level”
From 2nd Generation's email newsletter of November 2, 2012

On September 19, 2012, Brenda and I went to campmeeting at Harvest Assembly of God church in Oak Grove, Arkansas. The campmeeting had been tremendous that week. The speaker that night was Luke Holter. An evangelist who had the gift of prophesy. As the service was drawing to a close Luke looked at me and asked me to come forward.

He started out by saying I was God’s song bird. I would sing a new song. Then he started talking about there was a transition coming along with a new level. He said he kept seeing “we” and asked, “is there a “we” and is “we” with you. I told him yes, and pointed to Brenda, my sister. He called her up along side of me. He never asked what we did. He proceeded to speak a word over us.

The word he gave us that night was amazing and overwhelming, to say the least. But, we know God and believed the words spoken. You may not believe in this type of ministry or think he knew who we were and what we did. 2nd Generation had never met Luke Holter in our lifetime. When we left we didn’t understand the transition he was talking about that we would go through, but, now we do.

On October 26, Josh Adams chose to resign from 2nd Generation. There’s the transition. As many of you know, we have been down this road before. Many groups can testify that at times the road gets long, and many times frustrating. But God has called us into this and He will see us through. Those words that night on September 19th were words from God we fully believe. He knew where we were, and He knew what was ahead for us. The words spoken by Luke Holter confirmed that.

2nd Generation was birthed in our heart’s and (Brenda and I) soul’s in March 2005. We knew beyond all doubts, all frustrations that He had called us onto this path, and in times of discouragement He would not leave us nor fail.

In the beginning of this ministry we promised God that we would do our best, and with His direction, to live our lives in a way that would never bring reproach upon Him or the ministry of 2nd Generation. We feel that as ministers of the gospel through song we are responsible for the witness we have among men. We have placed a high standard for our ministry. Brenda and I live by that standard and anyone who is a part of 2nd Generation now or in the future is expected to abide by those same standards.

The word tells us to “study to show ourselves approved”. That is what we are trying to do. We desire to for our lives to be approved by God, not man. We are standing and believing in the words Luke Holter spoke that night. He also prophesied that we would go to a new level. To not worry about the dates, the calls would come, and they are. That God would be our “PR”.

We are excited about the future and the new level that God is taking us to. We will continue with our schedule and are scheduling for 2013. We will be singing as a duet for the present time and as the song says….let it BE (Brenda and Elaine). Thank you for your prayers. Brenda and I are looking forward to great and mighty things from God. Life is great because God is good!!

2nd Generation: Ten Things Every Pastor Wishes His Congregation Knew

Elaine and I were raised in a pastors home and we wouldn't trade it for anything. We have a heart for pastor's today. They are facing things that pastor's in the past haven't had to face. Times have changed. People have changed. Churches have changed. Over 1800 pastors are stepping down every single month. Not because God has released the call, but because of people like you and I.
Lets love on our pastors. Tell them you apprecaite them. Please take time to read the article below. There is a lot of truth to it. Get ready to say OUCH and then get ready to love on your pastor and his family.

Here are ten things every pastor wishes the congregation knew but doesn't know how to say:

(1) Your pastor has feelings. No seriously, he really does! Dealing with troubled marriages, addictions, mean-spirited congregants, constant complaints, and troubled spiritual lives can really weigh heavy on a person. It's no small thing for a pastor to get up in the pulpit on Sunday with a smile on his face after he's just visited a young man in jail, been witness to parents letting their children know they are getting a divorce, or counseled with that man dealing with a pornography addiction. It can break the strongest person. And if you say hurtful things to the pastor, even if you think you are right, learn to say: "I'm sorry." If you do have criticism, never do it publicly (a cowardly way), but go to him privately and season your speech with grace.

(2) Your pastor needs encouragement. Don't expect a pastor to ask for it, just give it. If your pastor does something meaningful that you appreciate, don't take it for granted, let him know how much it mean to you! Discouragement is real! It is discouraging to watch people "fall by the way-side" after you have spend days and maybe weeks or months investing in them as a pastor. Your pastor always gets discouraging calls; maybe you could give him an encouraging one (without asking anything of him). A few simple words of encouragement can do more good than many voices of discouragement.

(3) Your pastor is probably under-paid. (Just assume he is and its the church's responsibility to provide for him and his family.) I know people think pastors ought to be paid minimum wage so they can "rely on the Lord." The pastor does rely on the Lord, there's no need for further 'testing.' Pastors, when considering their education level as well as the ordination process of some denominations, have a very rigorous process to undergo before being fully ordained! The level of support that most churces provide is not even comparable to the amount of time, resources, education, giftedness, etc that it takes to become a pastor. Many pastors struggle to even pay off their under graduate or graduate education with the financial support they receive while pastoring a church. That, along with family responsibilities, financial expectations to give to the local church in every special offering (above & beyond tithe), and other financial issues, places a huge burden on the pastoral family. How many people would complain about the pastor's atire if he wore the same suit every Sunday or drove a 'clunker' while out visiting parishners? Yet, if we're not careful, we hold financial expectations on our pastor that are unfair. In many cases, when pastors retire from ministry, they are left to live off a social security check or the retirement fund of their spouse (shame on us). If we do not honor God's spokesperson to the local church; God will not honor the church.

(4) Your pastor is under constant spiritual attack. Yeah, they deal with temptation too. It's kind of like this: If you were fighting in the revolutionary war and you had one shot at the army charging at you would you shoot (1) the hundreds of foot soldiers charging or (2) the man riding the horse with a big plume in his hat? You got it! The pastor is in a place of leadership and if a pastor falls morally it causes a lot of discouragement and damage to the kingdom. Of course the Devil is going to target your pastor... especially if he is leading with integrity and the anointing of the Holy Spirit! Pray for your pastor. He needs it. Who will stand in the gap for their pastor?

(5) Your pastor's spouse has the hardest job in the church. I can't leave this one out. The spouse is not technically a staff person of the local church. Problem is, "pastor's wife" is its own position! Expectations are high for this non-paid position. Too many people believe the pastor's spouse ought to be a wonderful pianist, the friendliest greeter, a proficient Sunday School teacher, a fashion icon, a model of humility, a compassionate counselor, and the list goes on and on. There are few things that are difficult for the pastor's spouse: unfair expectations from the congregagtion, everything they say or do is under scrutiny, their kids have to behave and act better than everyone elses kids, they get no down time, if they were really transparent their mate might be out of a job, and so much more. Being a pastor's spouse can be one of the most lonely roles in the church. They often cannot even afford to have friends in the church for fear of betrayal or gossip. Try to make things pleasant for your pastor's spouse: let them know they are appreciated and do not make them the "back-up plan" for every ministry in the church. Protect your pastor's spouse, because your pastor needs their spouse more than they need you.

(6) Not everything is the pastor's fault. This is hard to believe, I know. The pastor is certainly an easy one to blame everything on because they are the visible leaders of the local church. Don't point fingers at the pastor every time something goes wrong or someone in the church is mad about something. If his preaching isn't up to par maybe its because he is spending too much time vacuuming the sanctuary. If he isn't visiting enough maybe its because he's too busy putting out the fires of discontent that you or others are starting. Do something to help cover for him! If more people need to be visited; visit them. If a Sunday School class needs to be taught; teach it. If no one will do the power point; volunteer. Step up and into a place that you can be part of the solution instead of the problem. Blaming someone else for the church's lack of effectiveness does not work! (Blame did not solve anything for Adam & Eve either.)

(7) Your pastor wishes he was Superman, but he is lucky to pull off Clark Kent some days. There are some things he just won't be good at... sorry. Not every sermon will be a home run (that doesn't mean you shouldn't listen to them). Generally, he won't be strong in every single area of pastoral ministry. It doesn't mean he is a failure, it means the church needs to function as a body instead of "paying the preacher to do it all." If a good pastor is guilty of anything, it is trying to be good at everything and then failing at everything. When you see your pastor trying to take on one more thing, that is the time to be stubborn and demand that he not add another thing to his list (tell him to add it to yours). This may be a shock to some, but your pastor does not know everything... the problem occurs when people treat him like he does not know anything.

(8) Your pastor is on call 24/7; try to be sympathetic when it comes to his time. Be considerate. Do not call your pastor before 8am or after 9pm except in an emergency. Try to work out the small stuff on your own. Do not be a "tattle tail" either. If there is a serious moral short coming, sure, that needs to be dealt with. But your pastor probably does not even care that someone looked at you cross-eyed during the offeratory. If that teenager keeps talking during service you deal with it or get over it. You know that guy you keep complaining is dropping cigarette butts in the flower bed, the pastor is trying to lead him to Christ. One day you may need the pastor in a real emergency so do not be the person always crying wolf! (As a side note, I might add that an over whelming majority of what people think is major, is in fact minor. Get a life, get a job, get out of your little world and try to catch the big picture of what Jesus is doing in the world around you!) Your pastor really cares about you, probably, but do not take advantage of that fact.

(9) Quit being so sensitive about EVERYTHING! This is a hard truth to swallow, but your pastor is not sitting around all week thinking of ways to offend you in his sermon on Sunday (and if he is, you must be a huge problem in the church). Keep in mind that the church is a family so we sometimes have conflict. Conflict is not bad in and of itself, it is what we do in that conflict that matters. Try giving your pastor the benefit of the doubt. Do not take everything personally. That chip on your shoulder may be restraining your pastor from doing what he needs to do to see the church move forward. Who wants to be a stumbling block? The reality is, your pastor wants what is spiritually the best for you and the church.

(10) Don't make your pastor stand alone. If your pastor has really been called of God there will be times he must make a stand for truth. When he does that, your responsibility is to be a supporter of biblical truth. Stand with him. Complainers, slanderers, gossips, and those causing division in the church are always vocal, why not be vocal about supporting your pastor if he is standing up for what is right? Too many people hide in the trenches and let the pastor lead the charge into the lines of immorality while they sit safely in their bunker silently "admiring" their martyr pastor and discussing who they can find for a new pastor when this one gets eaten alive on the battlefield fighting for truth. Your pastor will only be able to take so many bullets with everyone hiding behind him before he will have to leave your church... wounded. Then you'll get a pastor who may or may not stand up for what is right and you will have a wake of unsolved moral issues in your church that you will expect the next pastor to deal with alone as well. Sometimes this is as simple as letting him know verbally that you support him standing for truth. (It is not ever about sides, but it is about whether your pastor is doing right!)

I might be able to add to this list later, but I hope this might give insight to some lay person on how they can better be a Aaron or Hur for their Moses (Exodus 17:10-13). And to any of my current or past congregation members who might think I am talking about them... you bet I am. :-)

2nd Generation Requests Prayer

From 2nd Generation Email Newsletter July 26, 2012:

Asking for everyone to pray for 2nd G over the next few weeks. We need a financial blessing. We have a new CD about to be released, we have 3 conventions coming up, & we will be on the road for over 3 weeks. That means a lot of money going out.. So we need a blessing..We have CD expense, booth rentals to pay, 2 hotel rooms for over 3 weeks, food and fuel...Can I get an AMEN!!!! hahhaha

We titled our new CD Faithful because he has always been FAITHFUL to us every single time we needed anything. We are not one of the groups that gets thousands of dollars for every concert/service so at times like this we have to have EXTRAVAGANT FAITH....
We know that God is our provider and we are trusting him. He has ordered our steps, he has opened the door and we will go. It is about that lost soul receiving Jesus Christ as their savior. It is about the one that is ready to give up and they receive a blessing from our Lord and they are able to hang on. It is about someone receiving a healing or being delivered from strong holds.

We know that we are called for such a time as this and we are ready to do what he has called us to do.
Pray for 2nd Generation. Pray for our travels, and for FAVOR in everything that we do.

If you feel lead to support 2nd G with a love offering you may do so by going to our website and clicking on the donate button. We are a 501 c3 Company and every donation is tax deductible. We are so thankful for all of our FB family & friends & we appreciate your prayers. We will be posting pics and videos from the road so be watching.. Remember to call your local Southern Gospel radio station and request our new single One More River. Thanks friends.. Be blessed & highly FAVORED!!!!!!!

An Open Letter From 2nd Generation

Extravagant Faith

Hello Friends - We started this journey almost 6 years ago, and we are now FULL TIME Ministry. We go to churches basically on love offering basis, because we feel that is what God has instructed us to do and we want to minister in every church where God opens a door BIG or Small....

As everyone knows, times are tough for everyone. Churches are hit hard, people are hit hard, ministries are hit hard but we have to keep going. God has not uncalled us, and we can't just sit down and quit because of tough times. That is actually when God likes to work his best. We have been using the statement, "EXTRAVAGANT FAITH" for a couple of years now, and we really have to remind ourselves of that at this time.

The ministry is in need of several things and it is going to take EXTRAVAGANT FAITH on our part. God doesn’t need us to have EXTRAVAGANT FAITH, but we need it sometimes. So we are having EXTRAVAGANT FAITH for some needs that we have for 2nd Generation Ministries, Inc.

2nd Generation is in need of upgrading our sound system. We have used the same equipment for the last 5 years and need a few upgrades. We need new items such as mics, subwoofer, or a brand new sound system would be wonderful. We also need to get back in the studio to record a new project. God has provided us with some AMAZING songs, and we can't wait to present them to you all. 2nd Generation is also in need of finances to take care of radio, publicity, etc. We would also love to be able to pay off our Suburban and be a "debt free ministry". God says that he will supply all of our needs and we will never be forsaken. We are standing on that.

We know that God has called us to do what we do. We travel into a different city or state every week, different churches, but we are seeing the same thing everywhere. And that is that people are hurting. People need to be encouraged. They need to rebuild their faith. They need to get back the Joy of the Holy Ghost. Pastors need it more than anyone at this time, and we believe that we are called for such a time as this to go into the world and tell people that Jesus Christ is the only answer. He is our provider. He is our help in the time of trouble.

We need help to keep this ministry going on Love Offering basis. We are believing that at least 100 people give an offering of at least $100 dollars into 2nd Generation Ministries. There are many that can do more and many that can do less. But we know that God will provide at least 100 that can give at least $100.

2nd Generation is now a 501(C)3 non-profit organization and anything you give into the ministry is tax deductible also. We trust that you will pray about what God would have you do to help us stay on the road and continue the call that God placed upon our lives.

There may be some that will say why ask people. Because God is our provider but he provides through you. The Gospel is FREE but the pails to carry it in cost money. We consider ourselves as missionaries that sing and present the Gospel in song. We are serious about what we do & we love what we do. We thank you for sowing a seed into our ministry and giving someone else the opportunity to hear Gods word.

There is a great song that will be on our project titled, "It Was A Gospel Song". The song talks about a Gospel song is what brought someone to an altar. Songs and singing are very important, and we are so thankful that God has chosen us to present his word. If you feel led to give a gift you may do so by clicking on "Donate Here" on our website. Or you can mail your gift to the address on the contact page. Keep looking up for his return is near.

Thank you for giving. May God bless each of you! We will see you soon.
