IMC Concerts Announces First Virginia Beach Gospel Music Festival Oct 2014

IMC Concerts has announced the very first Virginia Beach Gospel Music Festival. “We are thrilled to bring our brand music event to the East Coast, and in particular to the beautiful coastal city of Virginia Beach,” states Landon Beene, President of IMC Concerts. “Gospel music, paired with a wonderful vacation destination such as Virginia Beach, offers fans a GREAT excuse to pack up the car and head to the beach and enjoy a great weekend of Gospel music. I love this beach town because it is so fitting for a family weekend, and so will the program we put together. This fantastic beach vacation spot, along with the great Gospel music means fun for the entire family!”The program being put together for IMC’s exceptional three-day event will feature daily and nightly concerts during five session with many of Southern Gospel Music’s most popular names performing, including The Martins, Gordon Mote, Greater Vision, The Collingsworth Family, The Hoppers, Ivan Parker, Guy Penrod, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound and many more.“We’ve been singing all around the Tidewater area for nearly 50 years,” states Dean Hopper, one of the event organizers who is also a member of The Hoppers, who will be among the artists featured at the event. “As a kid, I even remember the privilege of singing at the Hampton Roads Coliseum. After reminiscing on wonderful memories and realizing the lack of Gospel’s recent cultivation in the area, we wanted to bring our genre back in a BIG way! The music, mixed with the vacation opportunities for concert-goers, seemed like a no-brainer. Virginia Beach is gorgeous and serene, so why not come there?” In addition to the exciting music that will be taking the stage throughout the Festival, noted speakers will be included during the weekend, including popular comedian Dennis Swanberg and Grant Ethridge, Senior Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton, VA, along with the Liberty Baptist Church Choir.

This three-day, five-session Festival will feature a 7pm concert on Thursday evening, as well as Friday and Saturday sessions at 10am and 7pm. Festival package ticket prices are inclusive for all six sessions. Tickets may also be purchased for individual sessions. A complete schedule of events is available at www.imcconcerts.com and www.VirginiaBeachGospelMusicFest.com . The Virginia Beach Gospel Music Festival promises to be one to remember. GUY PENROD CELEBRATES UNFORGETTABLE 2011

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—For Guy Penrod, one of gospel music’s best-loved vocalists, 2011 marked a year filled with unforgettable milestones.  Led by the continued multi-genre success of his 2010 solo debut, Breathe Deep, Penrod’s visibility and acclaim experienced new heights within both the Christian and Country Music arenas.

Penrod is ending the year on a high note, having made his debut solo appearance on The Grand Ole Opry last month. As part of the Opry’s special Veteran’s Day show, the award-winning vocalist performed his current mainstream country single, “More Power To Ya,” and “Breathe Deep,” on the historic stage of Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

In addition, other unforgettable moments for Guy Penrod in 2011 include:

  • Induction into the Texas Gospel Music Hall of Fame
  • Dove Award Nominations for Country Album of the Year and Country Recorded Song of the Year (“Are You The One”)
  • ICM Award Nomination for Male Vocalist of the Year
  • 80 concert performances across the US
  • Numerous dates in Europe and Canada
“2011 will go down as a year that my family and I will not soon forget,” said Penrod.  “Whether it was learning about the Dove and ICM nominations; hearing our songs played on both Christian and Country radio; or stepping foot on the Opry stage, those are all moments to remember.  However, none of that tops the support and love I felt from those we sang to across the country.  It is my prayer we were able to, in turn, provide them with encouragement and hope for their own journeys.”

Penrod’s acclaimed 2010 Servant Records/Gaither Music Group solo debut, Breathe Deep, continues to be a benchmark for country recordings within the Christian marketplace.  Breathe Deep has sold more than 75,000 units to date, and has yielded successful singles in both mainstream country and southern gospel radio formats.

During his 14 years with the GRAMMY® and Dove Award-winning Gaither Vocal Band, Penrod performed before more than 5 million people on Bill & Gloria Gaither’s Homecoming Tours and was featured on Gaither television specials airing on multiple networks.  The Gaither Homecoming series and The Gaither Vocal Band sold more than 20 million CDs and DVDs while Penrod was a member.  Prior to joining the Vocal Band, Penrod was a highly sought-after studio singer in Nashville and appeared for three years on TNN’s popular “Music City Tonight” as a vocalist in the house band.

Penrod is looking forward to a full touring schedule in 2012, including performances at churches, theatres and special events throughout the country, as well as a European tour next summer.  For a complete tour schedule and additional information, visit www.guypenrod.com.

Guy Penrod Releases New Single to Radio

"Male Vocalist of the Year" Nomination in ICM Awards Ceremonies Cap Fall 2011

Nashville, Tennessee (September 14, 2011) - Guy Penrod strikes a strong vocal note of encouragement to the everyday American worker in his powerful new single "More Power To Ya" being delivered to country radio this week via Play MPE and CDX Vol. #531. The third single from his much acclaimed BREATHE DEEP CD release, Penrod's choice of the Jon Mabe/Jason Matthews written "More Power To Ya" continues to engage country listeners with a 'faith & family' values message that delves deep into the heart of the nation's 'can do' spirit. "I chose the song because of its down-to-earth grit when it comes to making it through life," notes Guy. "Life often deals us what seems at times to be an unfair hand. But the message in this great song is that the things that truly matter to us, our families-wives, kids, parents, friends--in short the people we love--are what's most important. We still get up and get out there and fight to provide for those we love. Things are especially challenging for the American work force at this time, but the numbers still reflect that we, as a people, are going to do what it takes to care for those we love and that grit deserves our applause and encouragement....to which I say, more power to ya!" With the unveiling of his new single and fall 2011 concert schedule, Guy Penrod remains one of the most "audience connective" live performers in the music industry. For country fans, his 2010 debut solo tour in support of BREATHE DEEP put a fresh face" on the unmistakable voice that help propel The Gaither Vocal Band to multi-Grammy wins and multi-million unit record sales. He has to date performed before audiences of more than six million concert-goers in the U.S. alone. The release of BREATHE DEEP set Penrod on course to be a centerpiece artist at the CMA Music Festival, tour Europe to introduce the new music, and embark on an ambitious country radio promotional tour that boosted his emerging strength in the genre to six figure sales in 2010. Guy will cap October with an October 28th appearance/performance at the ICM Faith, Family & Country Awards presentation being held in Nashville at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. He is nominated in the Male Vocalist of the Year category set to be presented that night. For additional information on concert dates listed please resource: www.guypenrod.com.

Born in Abilene, Texas, the son of a preacher, Guy grew up singing in church and school. His first performance came at the age of three, and Penrod recalls his mom and dad standing him up on a folding chair for his debut solo, "Fill My Cup Lord." From there, the powerful voice that would grow through experiences in school plays, and singing with local groups and theater productions, would lead to graduation and a vocal scholarship to Liberty University in Virginia. During the early 90s, Guy was an in-demand session singer in Nashville, who also appeared on TNN's "Music City Tonight" (as part of the show's vocal quartet), introducing him to a national audience via the live, 90-minute telecast.
Joining Guy on stage will be some of Nashville's finest musicians, including: Jason Ahlbrandt, Lead Guitar/Vocals; Jonathan Crone, Acoustic Guitar/Vocals; Andrew Lusk, Keyboards/Vocals; Lucas Skaggs (son of Ricky Skaggs), Bass Guitar and Tucker Wilson (grandson of Buck White of The Whites), Drums.

GUY PENROD BEGINS NEW CHAPTER IN ILLUSTRIOUS CAREER WITH RELEASE OF SOLO COUNTRY ALBUM FROM GAITHER MUSIC GROUP

NASHVILLE, TENN. (April 12, 2010)—Guy Penrod, who gained worldwide acclaim during his 14 years with the Grammy® and Dove® Award-winning Gaither Vocal Band, has launched a solo career with the release of Breathe Deep on Gaither Music Group/Servant Records.

Produced by Brent Rowan (Joe Nichols, Blake Shelton), Breathe Deep is a decidedly country album comprised of 13 songs that extol the virtues of faith and family. Top Nashville songwriters including Billy Montana, Neal Coty, Don Poythress and Mike Mobley contribute what Penrod describes as “story songs with a Biblical world view.” Breathe Deep debuted at #2 on Nielsen SoundScan’s Christian/Gospel-Christian retail chart for the week ending February 28.

“A country song has the ability to tell a story with the potential for the positive,” says Penrod. “The song can become modern-day parable on how to live life.” Happily married for 25 years, with eight children ranging in age from 4 to 18, Penrod is passionate about sharing these parables set to music--songs that express the values by which he lives his life.

Penrod recently completed a country radio tour in support of the debut single, “Are You The One,” written by Tammy Hyler and Shaye Smith, which had an official add date of March 29. The song is about parents taking responsibility to teach their children and be an example for them, rather than leaving it to outside influences. Of the more than 80 stations currently playing the single, WKML in Fayetteville, North Carolina, is an early supporter:

"No brainer...Great song with a great message from an artist our audience already knows & loves." DeanO, PD - WKML Fayetteville, NC

“Even When We Do” is about the beauty of growing old with your mate, “Every Saint” is about forgiveness and redemption,” while “The World Goes ‘Round” is about the circle of life. “Young Enough to Know Better” speaks of the consequences of one’s decisions, and “Pray About Everything” is an uptempo reminder to do as the title suggests. “Breathe Deep” and “Nothin’ More Beautiful Than That” appreciate the simple pleasure of life. “More Power To Ya,” “The Maker of Them All” and “The Broken Ones” are full of hope and encouragement, “The People That Matter” is about true friendship, and “Knowing What I Know About Heaven” is about letting go of a loved one.

Penrod’s Breathe Deep Tour launched March 25 with two sell-out performances in Akron, Ohio. Featuring Penrod and his band, the tour will travel to 18 cities, including Omaha, Tulsa and Virginia Beach, before wrapping up on May 30 in Orlando. The tour features special guest Austins Bridge.

During his 14 years with Gaither Vocal Band, Penrod performed before more than five million people on Bill & Gloria Gaither’s Homecoming Tours and was featured on Gaither television specials airing on multiple networks. The Gaither Vocal Band sold more than one million CDs and DVDs while Penrod was a member. Prior to joining the Vocal Band, Penrod was a highly sought-after studio singer in Nashville and appeared for three years on TNN’s popular Music City Tonight as a vocalist in the house band.
