McCray Dove Announces Reformation of Dove Brothers

McCray Dove announces the launching of his solo career beginning December 31, 2014. McCray states that he will still be traveling as McCray Dove and The Dove Brothers Band. The Band will still sing harmony, with McCray as lead vocalist and they will continue to travel with the live band. There are a lot of exciting things in the works.

McCray adds,
I have enjoyed singing in a quartet. In my 27 years of singing professionally I've traveled with some very talented men. There will always be a special place in my heart for quartet singing.
I would like to thank every member that has walked out on the stage with me and helped to further my career. Life changes and so does your heart. I have been debating this move for quite some time. I have songs that I want to write and songs to sing. I want to share what I feel and this is the way I feel I need to do it. I ask that you keep me and the band in your prayers. When we come to your town come be with us!
McCray recently added the following on Facebook, December 3/14:
I've had a lot of phone calls and emails wanting to know if I'm going solo or trio or will I still have the band ! So I'm gonna try to explain it the best I can ! McCray Dove will be singing LEAD and playing Keyboard Bass and Piano ! Mike Salley will be Singing Baritone and playing Steel Guitar, Lead Guitar, Banjo and Dobro ! Devin Dove will be singing Tenor and playing the Drums ! I hope this explains it ! More exciting news will be announced at the first of the year ! I am excited about the sound we have and that we are a true BAND in other words no tracks ! Live singing and live instrumentation ! McCray Dove and the Dove Brothers Band Announcement

McCray Dove and the Dove Brothers Band sadly announce the departure of bass vocalist David Cable. David has a great financial opportunity that will be better for him and his family that won’t allow him to travel with the Band’s schedule. David has been with the Dove Brothers Band for almost four years beginning as the bus driver for a year then the bass guitarist for a year and singing bass for almost two years.   McCray states that “Poppa Dave has been a real joy to have in the band and is one of the finest bass singers you could have in a quartet! I hate to see him go! We will miss him and wish him and his family the best. I tell folks all the time that change is something that every artist/group faces in the music industry and you can either do two things. You can go with it or quit. This year I’m celebrating 27 years traveling and singing professionally. I've come too far to quit now!” McCray also states that there is no replacement at this time. The band will play on!

Burman Porter Back On the Road with the Dove Brothers

David Hester Comes off the Road

BLADENBORO, N.C. – (August 16, 2011) –The Dove Brothers are excited to announce the return of Burman Porter to the mutli-award winning group. Porter, the original bass vocalist for the group, will rejoin the group at the first of September after the departure of long-time bass vocalist David Hester.

Hester is leaving the road to go home and be a full-time grandfather.

McCray Dove of the Dove Brothers said, “It’s really that simple. We have been nothing but happy with David in the group. He was just ready to start planning his retirement and watch his grandkids grow up. David has been an essential part of our team, and we will miss him greatly.”

McCray continued, “Burman is one of the best bass singers in this industry, and we are ecstatic that he is coming back on the road with us. We know that our friends and fans are going to enjoy seeing him back with us.”

McCray unofficially announced the return of Porter at last week’s Grand Ole Gospel Reunion where the original Dove Brothers (consisting of McCray Dove, Eric Dove, Burman Porter, and John Rulapaugh) performed a reunion set. That line-up of the group won Favorite Traditional Male Quartet in the prestigious Singing News Fan Awards in 2002.

The group has since been at the forefront of Gospel music with their cutting edge blend of traditional Southern Gospel and modern country sounds. The group’s brand new Sonlite Recordings album, simply titled Live, will release on September 20, 2011.

According to AbsolutelyGospel.com (formerly SoGospelNews.com), the Dove Brothers were named the most played artist of 2010 at Southern Gospel radio. Due to the group’s #1 hits “Hold On” and “If I Knew Then,” the Dove Brothers ranked #1 on the site’s Top 20 Most Played Artists of 2010 list.
