Nashville, Tenn (April 27, 2015) Just a few short days ago, former NFL Superstar Terry Bradshaw, joined the Isaacs on stage to perform the classic Gospel song "What A Day That Will Be” in Pollok, Texas.
His appointment got canceled in Louisiana, so he decided to drive a few miles to Texas to hear the Isaacs. Not only did Terry show up, but he also brought his 86 year old Mother and his lovely wife, Tammy. Bradshaw garnered a huge laugh when he asked the question "How many singers get the Isaacs to open for them?”
No stranger to the singing microphone, as Terry Bradshaw recorded several Gospel albums in the 1980s, he comfortably picked up the mic and related that he sang this song a several weeks earlier in Hawaii. With that, the Isaacs started strumming their instruments, Terry grabbed his cheat sheet and they were off and running with a great rendition of this classic song.
Lily Isaacs commented, "It's so strange that people who are legends in their own right would say they are a "Fan” of the Isaacs. We have known Terry for several years and are always pleased to be with him and his family. Terry is not ashamed of his Christianity in a broadcast world where it is not common.”
The video has had over 4 million views and can be seen on the Isaacs FaceBook page with this link:

Balsam Range Garners Two More IBMA Nominations
The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) has announced the nominees for the Momentum Awards. Each artist was chosen by committees through a multi-stage process involving both musicians and music industry leaders.
“One of the distinctive features of the bluegrass world is that the peak years of careers are often measured in decades, even as we welcome an abundance of new artists and industry professionals into the ranks,” Jon Weisberger, IBMA board chair, explains. “So as our top artists and professionals continue to enjoy recognition from their peers through its annual awards, the IBMA’s Board of Directors saw a need to salute some of the best and brightest among those who are closer to the beginnings of their careers, and created the Momentum Awards — noteworthy for including not just singers, pickers and bands, but events or venues and professionals — as a vehicle for drawing attention to their achievements."
Balsam Range is currently nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Instrumental Group of the Year and Buddy Melton is up for Male Vocalist of the Year.
Tim Surrett of Balsam Range was nominated for the Mentor Award (given to a bluegrass professional who has made a significant impact on the lives and careers of newcomers to the bluegrass industry.)
Balsam Range was also nominated for the Industrial Involvement Award for Colonial Theater, Balsam Range monthly concert series – Canton, N.C.
Catch them at the awards or during World of Bluegrass.

New Music from Balsam Range
Balsam Range to Release New Album 6/17
FIVE is the latest project from IBMA Album of the Year winning band
Nashville, TN --- IBMA Album of the Year winner, Balsam Range, returns with the band’s appropriately-titled fifth album. Five is set for release on June 17th.
Five exemplifies Balsam Range as one of the most remarkable bands in Acoustic music. If the goal was to elevate the level of songs, performance, production value, and excitement, then Five surely marks the successful achievement of that goal.
From deep in the Appalachians where the Great Smoky Mountains meet the Blue Ridge come the gifted men of Balsam Range, creatively blending Bluegrass, Folk, Gospel and Jazz into a new American acoustic music experience. Mountain Home Recording artists founded in 2007, Balsam Range is five friends with unique experiences and backgrounds blending together effortlessly to form their distinctive sound. Since bursting onto the scene, Balsam Range has made a definite mark in the Bluegrass and Acoustic music world.
The band's 2010 release TRAINS I MISSED brought in a #1 hit and Bluegrass Song of the Year award for its title track. PAPERTOWN (2012) built on that momentum with five consecutive months as the #1 album on Bluegrass radio, and won the 2013 IBMA Album of the Year award.
In the wake of PAPERTOWN’S success, expectations have been high.
"Papertown was received so well that we were a little anxious about what we could do next," said Tim Surrett, vocalist and bass player for the band. "How do we follow an Album of the Year? We finally just went in there and made the best record we could and had some fun."
The band has a consistent knack for conveying emotion with power. The result is a heartfelt delivery of tributes to working class heroes, an original Gospel a cappella song, a driving instrumental, and even a John Denver classic. The group draws from diverse influences and original sources while giving each track the Balsam Range treatment.
The band has also just announced its revamped fan benefit site, www.balsamnation.com which offers free music, discounts and exclusive merchandise to its growing population of dedicated fans. Information on Balsam Nation is available through the band web site. Additionally, Balsam Range has posted a fun video on the making of the tune, “Moon Over Memphis.”

HIGHROADIII Releases New CD With Big Party
Nashville, TN (May 8, 2014) Award winning female group sensation HIGHROADIII celebrated releasing their brand new album with a big CD Release Party, May, 7th . The new CD 'Angel At The Crossroads' is about to make a big splash in the Gospel Music arena.
The Country/Bluegrass sounding Gospel group performed their new release in it's entirety to a packed house at the Backstage Room of 3rd and Lindsley, a restaurant known for it's musical events in Nashville.
Performing songs from their sophomore project these ladies demonstrated some of the closest harmony you will ever hear. The CD has a wide variety of musical tastes from a short a capella rendition of the old hymn “Count Your Blessings” to the Southern Gospel Hit “Beulah Land” to the contemporary stylings of “Redeemer”.
Lending their hands to this project included multi-award winning artists Bill Gaither singing Bass, Greg Ritchie playing drums and Ben Isaacs producing the album. Greg Ritchie also performed with the group at the CD Party.
Though the girls included enough cover tunes to keep it interesting, there is some great original material to listen to also. Penned in part by group members Sarah Davison, Kiley Phillips and upright Bass player Stephen Wilder “Worry” is an upbeat Bluegrassy song that will lift your spirit any time you are down. The other tune written by group members “Don't Weep For Me” has a nice Country feel and a real message that will get you thinking about Heaven. There is even one novelty song “Prayer Chain” which speaks of how a prayer chain can in some cases be a rumor chain. It's a really cute song. The title song “Angel At The Crossroads” seems to have a special meaning to the lives of each of the ladies.
All in all it was a night of fun and great fellowship including HIGHROADIII fans, some media, other Gospel artists and even some Belmont University students. Kiley Phillips, Lead singer and guitar player, commented "We are so thankful for each and every person who came out to our CD Release Party. We had such an amazing time sharing our new project with our closest friends and family. The support and encouragement that we felt is so humbling and gives us a charge to work even harder to spread the Word of God and His message that we all three believe in."
All three members of HIGHROADIII are Belmont University graduates. Sarah Davidson, Kiley Phillips and Anna Grace Kimbrough make up the ladies of HIGHROADIII while Stephen Wilder plays the upright Bass with them as often as possible.
In an additional note, HIGHROADIII has recently signed an extensive publicity agreement with AG Publicity of Nashville, TN. Pamela Unthank of AG Publicity stated “The first time I heard these three young ladies I knew they had a sound that was going to take them a long way toward getting them to where they want to be in their careers. We are proud to represent a group with such a great sound and loving spirit.”

About HIGHROADIII
In a world where conformity is king and following the crowd is practically a survival instinct, the women of HIGHROADIII, an award-winning Appalachian gospel group from Nashville who just happen to be the best of friends, too, have always preferred the road less traveled.
And so it’s fitting that the trio’s new album, which also features the girls’ inventive instrumentation, would bear the same name. Filled with the beautiful, haunting melodies and vocals that have been the group’s hallmark, Sarah Davison, Anna Grace Kimbrough and Kiley Phillips, all graduates of Belmont University’s prestigious School of Music, feel the songs from The Road Less Traveled reflect their personal journey of being set apart.

Absolutely Gospel Music Awards To Pay Tribute To The Easter Brothers
Nashville, TN (March 14, 2014) The Absolutely Gospel Music Awards is happening on April 15th at River of Life Church in Smyrna, TN. It will be a great night for many in Southern Gospel Music, but a special honor will be given to the ever popular Easter Brothers.
For over sixty years this trio of brothers have helped to forge a new frontier in Gospel music with their unique style. Some would call their style of singing 'Bluegrass Gospel', while others have termed it 'Traditional Country Gospel', but whatever you call it, call it good Gospel Music. Many of their songs were recorded by other groups and have become standards. Among them are “Thank You Lord For Your Blessings On Me,” “The Darkest Hour,” “They’re Holding Up The Ladder,” “He’s The Rock I’m Leaning On,” “Help Me Stand Lord,” “Jesus, You’ve Just Made My Day,” “Heart That Will Never Break Again,” “Please Don’t Tell My Daddy,” “Hand Me Downs” – all just a few of the hundreds of songs penned by the three brothers. Their songs will live on in the hearts and minds of Gospel Music lovers for many generations to come.
Deon Unthank, President of AbsolutlelyGospel.com stated “What an honor to recognize the Easter Brothers for over sixty years of success not just singing, but writing many songs that have become classics in the Gospel Music genre. What better way to forget about the IRS and your taxes than celebrating with the Easter Brothers.”
Many artists are contributing to this special tribute including Jeff and Sheri Easter, The Isaacs, Kelly Nelon, The Freemans, and special guests, bluegrass icons, Daily and Vincent.

Bluegrass star David Davis begins his 30th Anniversary year with a nomination
Many mark their 30th anniversary with the lustre of pearls as a gift, David Davis and the Warrior River Boys begin its 2014 milestone with a nomination for its leader.
Davis will appear at the 39th Annual National Old Time Country, Bluegrass and Old Time Folk Music Festival in LeMars, Iowa on August 25.
Davis of Cullman, Ala. is included among the nominees to the National Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame beside Hee Haw star Lulu Roman and John Carter Cash.
“David is a deserving bluegrasser, and that's one of our priority genres,” said Bob Everhart of the National Traditional Country Music Association.
Since taking the reins in October 1984, Davis and his band traveled millions of miles while garnering a faithful following of folks who care about their music through scores of appearances on stage, television and radio.
Promoters have welcomed their traditional sounds, comedy, and flawless musicianship to entertain their audiences at the largest outdoor festivals and premier indoor venues in forty-six states, the Bahamas and all Canadian Provinces.
“It is definitely a special honor for which to be nominated,” he said. “The fact that so many different types of artists and different segments of American music genres are represented here make it even more significant.”
While his current release "Two Dimes and a Nickel" is on Rebel, his catalog includes releases on Rounder, Wango and Time Life.
He recently donated his time to raise funds for Appalachian music scholarships on the Share America Foundation CD “Mountain Opry Memories” performing “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” with International Bluegrass Music Museum Legend Randall Franks, “Officer Randy Goode” from TV’s “In the Heat of the Night.” It is available at www.shareamericafoundation.org or download ITunes and Amazon.com.
David and the band plan an extended 30th Anniversary Tour including a number a special events and surprises beginning this month extending through October 2015. Among the Warrior River Boys are Marty Hays playing bass, Robert Montgomery on banjo, Stan Wilemon on guitar and Ben Sanders on fiddle.

Doyle Lawson Celebrates 2nd Annual Bluegrass Music Appreciation Day
PIGEON FORGE, TN (December 14, 2013) – Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver celebrated the 2nd Annual Bluegrass Music Appreciation Day on Thursday evening at the Christmas in the Smokies Bluegrass Festival in beautiful Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The holiday was launched by social media guru and banjo player Lee Marcus in 2012 to raise awareness and appreciation of Bluegrass music.
In 2012, Doyle Lawson provided what Marcus called “rocket fuel” to the holiday’s inaugural year when Lawson sponsored a Favorite Song Promotion, which invited fans to name their favorite DLQ song. Lawson and his award-winning band Quicksilver, along with two red-clad North Pole types, joined in creating a fun video of the most requested song which was “Help Is On the Way.” The spot featured Lawson in a lively Christmas-flavored video, singing along side Santa and his elf, who bore a startling resemblance to Quicksilver members Josh Swift and Joe Dean. The video was shared throughout Bluegrass media, as well as via Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver’s website and Facebook page.
When Bluegrass Music Appreciation Day approached this year, Lawson again opened his song request lines, but this time Lawson asked for any song fans wanted to hear, regardless of whether he had recorded it. Favorites ranged from Tom T. Hall’s “I Love,” to the classic “Fox on the Run,” to a myriad of bluegrass gospel favorites.
Lawson chose an a cappella song originally requested by Teresa Breedlove of Maryville, Tennessee, after an overwhelming response to the song came flowing in after his Paramount Christmas concert.
The song Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver performed at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center on December 12 in honor of Bluegrass Appreciation Day is “There Is A God.”
“We’re happy to do whatever we can in support of Bluegrass music,” said Lawson, “and to give back to the fans who make it all worthwhile.”

Actor/entertainer Randall Franks “Mountain Opry Memories” CD raises funds for two non-profits

International Bluegrass Music Museum Legend Randall Franks shares his talents for a new Share America Foundation fundraising CD.
“Mountain Opry Memories” is a collection of impromptu performances recorded live at the Mountain Opry in Walden, Tenn. on Signal Mountain.
"One of the favorite places my late mother Pearl Franks loved to go was the Mountain Opry," he said. "Of course, each time I took her, I found myself on stage sharing a few songs for the audience ably assisted by volunteer musicians also appearing that night.”
Franks is best known as “Officer Randy Goode” from TV’s “In the Heat of the Night,” a role he performed on NBC and CBS from 1988-1993. He stars regularly in films for UpTV and starred with Robert Townsend in the series - “Musical Theater of Hope.” His most recent film is “Lukewarm” with John Schneider, Nicole Gale Anderson and Bill Cobbs.
The Independent Country Music Hall of Fame member was honored in 2013 by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal for his community service and philanthropy benefiting the people of Georgia.
Franks’s musical stylings have been heard in 150 countries and by more than 25 million Americans. His musical career boasts 19 album releases, 19 singles, and over 200 recordings with various artists from various genres. The award-winning fiddler’s best selling release, "Handshakes and Smiles" was a top twenty Christian music seller. Many of his albums were among the top 30-bluegrass recordings of their release year. The Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame member shared a top country vocal collaboration with Grand Ole Opry stars The Whites. His work connects him with 33 International Bluegrass Hall of Fame, 10 Country Music Hall of Fame, 9 Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and 3 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. In addition to his solo career including 13 years guest starring for the Grand Ole Opry, Franks is a former member of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys, Jim and Jesse's Virginia Boys and has performed with Jeff and Sheri Easter, The Lewis Family, the Marksmen Quartet, the Watkins Family, Elaine and Shorty, “Doc” Tommy Scott’s Last Real Old Time Medicine Show and Doodle and the Golden River Grass.
Enthusiasts of Southern Appalachian music began the Mountain Opry in 1979.
“We work to provide a place for folks to gather from all around the world and hear the authentic singers and musicians of our region perform and jam,” said Ken Holloway, Mountain Opry president.
Franks recalls his first appearance there was as a youth with the multi-award winning Marksmen Quartet.
“The Mountain Opry is free and held each Friday night inside a 1920s auditorium that has found entertainers from around the country appearing on the stage that has been the focus of a long-running radio show and several television specials,” he said.
The CD project was the brainchild of producers Tom Adkins of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Tom Morgan of Dayton, Tenn. who initially desired to document a joint performance by Adkins and Franks at the venue.
“Tom Adkins met me as a youth at Stone Mountain’s Yellow Daisy Festival in Georgia,” Franks said. “Tom often shared encouragement with me and backed me at fiddle contests. Co-producer Tom Morgan also was an early encourager in my musical life and continues to play a role to this day including bringing me to the attention of my grandmother’s ancestral home in Rhea County, Tenn. who honored my career with an exhibit alongside Curly Fox in its Courthouse Museum.”
Engineer Martin Fisher of Middle Tennessee State University assisted in preparing the 2001 recordings featuring Adkins and Franks.
Tom Adkins is a pioneering Tennessee Valley multi-instrumentalist marking 71 years of performing. Among the groups he performed with are Lock Stock and Barrel, Down Yonder, Bill Lowery and the Lookout Valley Boys, Maynard Renfro and the Hymn Time Gang, Weldon Turner and his Turnovers and the Tennessee Hy-Ryders. He was a regular for many years appearing with various acts at the Mountain Opry.
Adkins said he sees the project as a way to continue the work of encouraging youth in Appalachian music started by the Share America Foundation, Inc. through its Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholarship and also provide some funds for the Mountain Opry, which also benefits.
“Music is a wonderful part of my life,” Adkins said. “I wanted to do this in remembrance of my late wife Faye who also shared a love of music that she supported me in enjoying. Once Tom and Randall became involved, the project became much more than I could have imagined as Randall added songs from many performances creating a unique listening experience.”
Morgan, a legendary bluegrass and folk musician joined served as co-producer. He is a pioneering member of the legendary bluegrass group the Country Gentlemen. He and his late wife Mary entertained throughout the country recording for Folkways Records and supporting legendary performers such as Grand Ole Opry star Curly Fox and fiddler Benny Williams. The duo was founders of the Chattanooga Area Friends of Folk Music. A multi-instrumentalist and luthier, Morgan also performed with Buzz Busby, Red Allen & Frank Wakefield and the Kentuckians.
“While the music is off the cuff, it represents the synergy between performers sharing their talents for an audience with all the fun and magic of our musical heritage in a way that reflects such a wonderful legacy,” he said.
Randall Franks engineered the remainder of the recordings spanning from 1999-2010.
“We worked to bring the collection together in a way that reflects a full show even though the recordings span many appearances,” Franks said.
Following an introduction by Holloway, Franks opens with the upbeat “Fire on the Mountain.” He then navigates the audience through a variety of comedic comments and stories such as “A Tunnel Runs Through It,” country and western standards including “Send Me the Pillow,” “Red River Valley,” “Crawdad Song,” “Ya’ll Come,” and songs unique to his career like the “Sparta Impound Blues.”
He welcomes special guest David Davis for a live gospel duet “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” and joins the late country pioneer Charlie “Peanut” Faircloth and a country band for “The Kind of Love I Can’t Forget.”
In the tradition of the Southern Appalachian fiddle bands - Adkins and Franks both fiddle on tunes including “Boil Dem Cabbage Down,” “Faded Love,” and “Turkey in the Straw” and Adkins plays behind Franks as he sings “The Old Black Fiddle.”
In keeping with his focus on encouraging youth, Franks, who serves as president of the Share America Foundation, is joined by the Mountain Cove Bluegrass Band including three Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholars for the bluegrass standard “Foggy Mountain Breakdown.”
“This CD project is a tremendous way for people to support two ongoing programs that provide an opportunity for youth to grow on stage in the traditional music of our region while offering the opportunity for folks to find quality family entertainment,” said Joe Turner, Share America chairman. “And of course, through our program it enhances our ability to encourage them as they pursue their college education.”
Franks closes his show with the support of members of the Valley Grass who appear on many of the cuts by performing “Orange Blossom Special.”
Musicians who donated their performances for the project are Randall Franks - fiddle and guitar, Terry Hatfield - guitar, Brian Blaylock - mandolin, Stacy Wilcox - banjo, Randy Pryor - bass, Tom Adkins - fiddle, Ken Holloway - guitar, John De Grote - bass, David Davis - mandolin, Charlie “Peanut” Faircloth - harmonica, Charles Chambers - guitar, Joe Chambers - guitar, Rocky Ramsey - guitar, Gary Denham - bass, Jimmy Givens - banjo, Merielle Flood - bass, Cody Harvey - banjo, Mike Holloway - bass, Wil Markham - fiddle, Colin Mabry - guitar, Tyler Martelli - harmonica and mandolin, and Austin Adkins - guitar.
