Hyssongs Tops Charts, and Receives First Singing News Award

Sharps Chapel, TN, October 29, 2014--The Hyssongs, a gospel music group from Rockport, ME, have been named Top New Trio of 2014 by the Singing News. This fan award recognizes the rising popularity of this group which now has back-to-back top 20 radio singles. Their new release, “I Was Blind, But Now I See,” written by Rodney Griffin, songwriter of the year, is #7 on the Singing News Top 80 and #4 on the SGN Scoops radio charts.

The Hyssongs, who began singing gospel music full-time in 2002, travel throughout the U. S. and Canada performing over 250 concerts per year.

Another honor bestowed on the group was a main stage appearance at the National Quartet Convention in Pigeon Forge, TN. This past September they performed their hit song to an audience of approximately 12,000 people.

Dell Hyssong, the baritone and founder of the group, when asked about their recent radio success said, “Our family is humbled that so many stations continue to play our music for the fans to enjoy. When we stepped out in faith to go into a full-time music ministry, we just wanted to make a difference and reach people for Jesus Christ.” Asked to comment on the award, tenor, Richard Hyssong said, “We were blown away when the presenters called our name.

The fans, whom we consider our friends, have been so supportive of us on the road. We cannot thank them enough for voting for us. There are many other gifted trios – we are honored to be among such great groups.”

JASON CRABB GOES "OLD SCHOOL" FOR NQC 2014 PERFORMANCE

Crabb Steps Out of the Box and Takes Sold-Out Audience Back In Time

12,000 Led in Reflection and Prayer for America
Jason Crabb is known for his soaring vocals and high-energy performances, but the sold-out NQC 2014 crowd witnessed a different side of Mr. Crabb last Friday night as the Grammy award winner took the audience back in time. As the lights dimmed, and the audience waited, a great expectancy filled the air. Through hints on social media, everyone knew Crabb had something "up his sleeve" and special for the evening's appearance - something he had been planning for months. As the entire company - Crabb, his band plus some very special guest instrumentalists and singers - began their walk to the stage, Crabb felt a nervous excitement, wondering if they could "pull it all off."

As a video of a vintage record player began playing, the stage lights arose revealing the stage filled with Crabb, band and singers dressed in vintage 40's attire. The sounds of an accordion filled the air and the audience knew they were in store for something unique. Crabb - clad in an all black & white ensemble topped off with black & white wingtip shoes - stepped up to a vintage 1940's microphone and delivered an incredibly smooth version of the classic "When We All Get To Heaven." The entire group - band dressed in derby hats and backup vocalists in vintage dresses - brought to life a church service straight out of the 1940's! The sold-out audience witnessed a different style for Crabb as he performed traditional gospel classics; background singers expertly complimenting the smooth vocals with exquisite three-part harmonies akin to the Andrews Sisters.

The crowd was transported back in time throughout the entire performance as one song after another was familiar tunes that provided moments of crowd involvement - you could hear them singing along and see the smiles on their faces. Ashleigh Crabb, the oldest daughter of Jason & Shellye Crabb, made her way to the stage to sing with her daddy. From the opening strains of "This Little Light of Mine," it was evident to all that she has indeed inherited vocal talents from her famous father. The crowd erupted in applause as the father-daughter team finished their duet, and she exited the stage. You could see the pride beaming from the happy father's face!

What happened during this set can only be described as a special visit from the Holy Spirit. Performances during the National Quartet Convention are typically geared to please the crowd with the performers "hits" and introduce new material. This was different, and everyone experienced it.

As Crabb launched into a pensive version of "America, The Beautiful," there was a change in the atmosphere. With an incredibly clean and uncomplicated - yet stylish - arrangement of the tune, Crabb displayed a spirit of patriotism to those in attendance, even saluting veteran's during the song. With recent events occurring in America, this set off a time of prayer and contemplation - seeking God for mercy, grace and His touch on this great country.

Crabb felt the leading of the Holy Spirit to do something different. Jumping "out of the box" and into unfamiliar territory can be scary and the entire Crabb team was certainly nervous about this creative experience but knew in their hearts this was the right thing - and it was. Scaling it all down, bringing a contemplative set to a stage known for extravagant performances was definitely a risk but Jason has always followed his heart. This man, led by God, took the 12,000 SOLD-OUT crowd into the presence of the Father, bringing them to prayer for America.

Out of the box, out of the ordinary - but right where God wanted Jason Crabb to be. Following Him has always been the path of Jason Crabb and God proved once again, that He knows exactly where to guide.

HopperHappenings July 2014

connieGrowing up in Sunday School and church I learned early in life about Jesus and His love. I remember those fire-filled sermons "there is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun".  Except for watching my parent's life and instruction from them, I did not learn a lot about living life's everyday journey until I began reading Gods word for myself. Nearly fifty years ago as I read about the life of the early Christians, I prayed this prayer.  Lord, whatever comes on this journey of faith give me your strength and grace to stand.

Ashley DeRamus Performs National Anthem

Hoover, AL (September 23, 2013) Ashley DeRamus is an inspiration to every one she comes in contact with because she never gives up on achieving her goals. One of her many goals is to say the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the National Anthem on as many stages and as many different venues as possible. Part of the reason is her love for this country and another is to be an inspiration to others with Down Syndrome in showing them that they can achieve things that everyone would aspire to accomplish.
She sang the National Anthem on the main stage at the National Quartet Convention in front of thousands on September 11, 2013. She was joined on stage by the popular Southern Gospel group, The Dixie Melody Boys. She received a thunderous ovation at the conclusion of the song and plenty of hugs from the group and others at the convention.

This came on the heels of being honored by Disney as one of the six most inspirational entrepreneurs with Down Syndrome in the world. Ashley continues to pursue every goal she has with all the passion she has.

While at the convention she also did numerous radio and television interviews as well as spending time talking with parents and children affected by Down Syndrome. She took time with everyone that wanted to speak with her and was an inspiration to many.

National Quartet Convention To Offer FREE FRIDAY Webcast

Louisville, KY - During the week of September 8 through September 14 over 40,000 Southern Gospel Music fans, representing at least 40 states and more than a half dozen foreign countries will travel to Louisville, KY, for the 56th Annual National Quartet Convention. This will be the 20th and final Convention in Louisville, before the event moves to the city of Pigeon Forge, TN, in 2014.

This year’s Convention will no doubt be special for those attending this final year in the city of Louisville. The world’s largest gathering of Southern gospel musicians and fans began meeting annually at Freedom Hall in 1994 bringing tens of thousands of people to the city. In 2012, the NQC brought 40,000 people to Louisville with an economic impact of $7,955,500. “The NQC has enjoyed remarkable success in Louisville as the Kentucky Expo Center gave us room to grow and reach our full potential. Though we feel the need to relocate to a vacation destination and a mobility friendly venue for the immediate future, we will always looks back fondly at our 20 conventions in Louisville as they were all more successful than any of the other NQC’s that had occurred prior to moving to Louisville.,” said Clarke Beasley, Executive Director of the NQC.

The new venue will be located in Pigeon Forge, TN, the state which hosted the very first NQC in 1958. Long-time Convention attendees are looking forward to the move; however, many wonderful memories have been made in Louisville, where the Convention has seen tremendous growth. With this year being the final year in Louisville special festivities are plan to celebrate the success of Louisville and the excitement that awaits in Pigeon Forge.

While thousands of fans will make their way to Louisville, many who are unable to attend the event in person will have the opportunity to watch performances taking place in Freedom Hall live, as it happens, or on demand through the NQC’s popular website, www.nqconline.com. All events taking place in Freedom Hall throughout NQC Week will be available through the webcast. This is a feature the NQC has offered for several years now; however, in celebration of the final year in Louisville, the NQC is making the Friday webcast available to the public for free. NQC Free Friday is expected to produce viewership from all over the world. “Through the webcast, subscribers can watch all events live, as they occur on the main stage in Freedom Hall or on demand through the end of October,” Beasley explains. “The webcast has been very popular over the past few years. This year we are thrilled to offer Free Friday, as we expect this to be an extraordinary day, celebrating the rich history the Convention has enjoyed during our two decades in the city of Louisville.” In addition to viewing the festivities of NQC 2013 over the NQC webcast on a computer, subscribers to the webcast will also be able to view the webcast on their televisions through their Roku device.

About The Promise

For centuries Christians have sung praises to our Heavenly Father at important events. In Luke 2:13-14 we find that they sang praises on the announcement of the birth of Jesus Christ and Matthew records in chapter 26 that the Apostles sang during the last supper. The Promise keeps this tradition alive by singing the praises of our Savior in churches and concerts across the land.
