Tim Riley To Be Honored At Kickoff Concert
Gadsden, AL (May 1, 2015) Father and son Gospel duo Wilburn & Wilburn along with other former members of Gold City are pleased to announce the formation of the Heritage of Gold Reunion Tour, reuniting several Gold City alumni for an evening of music and memories. This tour, now available for booking, will feature three of today's most exciting groups -- Gold City, Wilburn and Wilburn, and The LeFevre Quartet. These groups will make up the core of each concert. Promoters will also be able to select either Jay Parrack or Steve Ladd to join former members Jonathan Wilburn and Mike LeFevre on stage to relive some of the great music and moments in the 35-year career of this much-awarded quartet.
Beckie Simmons, of the Beckie Simmons Agency responsible for handling the booking and coordination of this tour, is also pleased to announce Hall of Fame bass vocalist Tim Riley, who has not resumed full-time touring since suffering a stroke in 2014, will be available for select concert dates as well.
The official kickoff for this tour will be a special event in Gold City's home state of Alabama. The concert will be Saturday, July 11, 2015 at North Glencoe Baptist Church in Gadsden, AL at 6 p.m. Featured at this particular event will be Gold City, Wilburn and Wilburn, and The LeFevre Quartet, along with Jay Parrack and Vocal Event and Tim Riley.
This inaugural concert to kick off the Heritage of Gold Reunion Tour will also be a night the groups take special time to honor and thank Tim Riley for his many contributions to gospel music. Tim has sang Gospel music over 50 years and has dedicated the past 35 years to the work of Gold City, a group that rose to the national scene in the 1980's and quickly became the standard by which other quartets were measured. This night will not only mark the start of the tour celebrating the rich history of the group, but will pay homage to the man who has been the pillar of consistency throughout the group’s long and successful run which continues to this day--and the groups plan to honor Tim in grand fashion on this night.

Tribute to Lari Goss in latest SGN Scoops Digital Magazine for February 2015
It’s February and time to grab your coffee, snuggle up by the fire and read all the great stories in this edition of SGNScoops Magazine. We know we have enough captivating features to keep you reading until you are warm and toasty!
Our cover feature celebrates the life of Lari Goss. If you didn’t know the extent of Goss’ accomplishments, I know that this feature by Jennifer Campbell will enlighten you. If you knew and loved this gentleman, we hope that we have done his life justice.
Some of the other artists and Gospel music notables highlighted this month include Matt Felts and the Lesters, Austin Whisnant, the Revelation Trio, the Hall Sisters, Higher Hope and Les Butler. Our feature writers have done a wonderful job! I hope you will find these great folks on Facebook and show them some love (but not in a creepy way!)
Read all about Jonathan and Jordan Wilburn as well. I had a good interview with Wilburn and Wilburn and talked with them about their music and their family lives. We talked about love and relationships, in honor of Valentine’s Day.
You will also find interesting features from the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church and from Lynn Mills our Event Planner. Dean Adkins highlights Church Quartets. Visiting with us in our Pastors Corner is Ed Smith, with a great article on the purpose of music in the life of a Christian.
The Southern Gospel DJ’s play such a large part in our music, that we are happy to salute a new one every month. Vonda Easley shines the spotlight on ReJeana Leeth, who has a great story that you need to read.
Thanks to all of you who read SGN Scoops and pass it along to others. The best way to let us know you like us is to share this issue with five of your social media friends. You can download the February SGN Scoops Here

Wilburn and Wilburn Releases Concept Video As They Also Issue A 30-Day Challenge
Wilburn and Wilburn – a Daywind Records recording artist consisting of Jonathan Wilburn and his son Jordan Wilburn – have released a concept video for their song “Help Me Help Someone,” which is on Wilburn and Wilburn’s latest project, “Here Comes Sunday.” The song was a collaborative effort, penned by award-winning songwriter Jimmy Yeary, Country Music personality Cledus T. Judd and Gary LeVox, the lead vocalist of Country Music recording artist Rascal Flatts.
Wilburn and Wilburn has been singing powerful songs since they began touring in March of 2011. When “Help Me Help Someone” was released to radio, it grabbed the attention of Compassion International and film maker David Altizer.
“We knew we wanted people to hear the message of this song and for the audience to know that they can make a difference,” Jonathan Wilburn explains. “We want to help folks in need domestically and internationally, and we found a partner that is willing to help us achieve that goal. We challenge everyone who hears this message to evaluate whether they can help just one person today. Compassion has been gracious enough to help us with our vision and in helping us to release this music video.”
“When this plan started unfolding, we wanted to have an impact with people watching the video at home and engage them enough to where they will want to take action,” Daywind Records vice president and A & R director Scott Godsey – who served as the producer of the video – shares. “There are a lot of hurting people in the world, and this song talks about the body of Christ helping those folks. The line in the song that says, ‘we can all make a difference, and it starts with me’ ... it is our hope that those words will passionately speak to all of us as we count our innumerable blessings today. It was thoroughly enjoyable working with Compassion and with director David Altizer.”
In addition to Compassion assisting Wilburn and Wilburn with the creation of the video, Wilburn and Wilburn have also become Compassion representatives.
However, Wilburn and Wilburn are not stopping there. They are also issuing a 30-day challenge to both themselves and everyone around them to go above and beyond, a mission to help one person each day for 30 consecutive days. The daily “help” can be as simple as assisting an elderly person with their groceries or a commitment to sponsor a child through an organization such as Compassion International.
Wilburn and Wilburn have been long-time supporters of various charities, and with there continuing to be both foreign and domestic needs, they believe that the Lord can use us all if we simply allow him to do so. The partnership that Wilburn and Wilburn has developed with Compassion will allow their audience to have an opportunity to help children who are much less fortunate. While meeting the tangible needs of those children, Compassion also shares the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Wilburn and Wilburn Rental Car Destroyed In Accident
Not long after traveling down the interstate in their newly rented car Jonathan and Jordan suddenly met stopped traffic on a draw bridge, which was a result of road construction in the Norfolk River Tunnel just ahead. As Jonathan quickly applied his brakes the tires began to slide on the metal surface that covered most of the draw bridge. The car slid 40 feet into the back-end of a truck in front of them.
Jonathan and Jordan, though stunned by the air bags, were unharmed. “The man we hit was not hurt, for which we are very thankful. He not only was gracious in his demeanor toward us but gave us a ride back to the airport to pick up another rental car.” commented Jonathan.
However, this is where the story takes a crazy turn. As Jonathan was talking to the man they had hit, Jordan realized the front left headlight had a small flame that had sparked within it. Jonathan and Jordan immediately got all their belongings out and within minutes that tiny flame had engulfed the entire car.
Thankfully no one was hurt and Wilburn & Wilburn made it to their hotel safely. Jonathan stated “God certainly had His hand on us. Had that fire started sooner, Jordan and I could have lost everything we had and possibly been severely injured. God is a good God.”

Wilburn And Wilburn Record New Concept Video
Nashville, TN (August 4, 2014) Award winning Gospel duet Wilburn and Wilburn have been in Nashville, TN lately recording a brand new concept video. The featured song for this video “Help Me” is from their latest recording 'Here Comes Sunday'.
Being one of the most innovative groups in Gospel music this Father and Son duo, along with Daywind Records, have slated the video for release at NQC 2014 . Unlike the huge Country hit “Help Me” by the Larry Gatlin, this cut of the same title, isn't asking God to “help me”, but rather asking God to “help me help someone else”.
Scott Godsey of Daywind Records said “The message of this song is perfect for ministering as a concept video.
Adding to the message, the location high atop the L&C Building in Nashville this video is set to touch the heart of everyone who sees it.”
Jonathan Wilburn continued saying " As far as I can remember when traveling through Nashville , we would see the big L&C building. I never knew I would be that close to it.”
The song "Help me Help Someone" written by prolific song writer Jimmy Yeary, along with Cletus T. Judd and Gary LeVox, has already had an impact in Wilburn and Wilburn services and concerts. “Help Me” is really a prayer asking God to help us have the strength and desire to help those that are in need.
“In need of Jesus, Love, Compassion and Mercy. We are the vehicle of these things.” Jonathan states, “We hope this video will help us encourage and promote helping those that need Gods love to be real in their lives.”
The L&C Office Building Complex consists of a 31-story office Tower and an adjoining 9-story Annex building. The Tower was constructed in 1957 as the headquarters for Life & Casualty Insurance Company. It was the tallest structure in Nashville and the South for decades. The Tower quickly became a Nashville landmark with its height and distinctive neon logo. The Annex was built in 1925 as the original headquarters for Life & Casualty.

Wilburn & Wilburn Participate In Benefit Gospel Concert For Tornado Victims
GADSDEN, AL (June 4, 2014) Father and son Gospel duo Jonathan and Jordan Wilburn spoke life into Mississippi’s tornado victims in a Gospel music concert on Saturday, May 31st. Several Gospel musicians came together and gave back to the community by offering their condolences through song.
Severe damage was witnessed in late April to parts of northeastern Mississippi. By way of extreme storms, tornadoes wreaked havoc and caused death and destruction. Heartbreak and grief blanketed the area like a dark cloud.
Gospel music is known for it’s ability to warm the souls of many. Through its touching lyrics and inspiring melodies, Gospel music can heal. Gospel musicians wanted to bring light to Tupelo, MS and surrounding areas by putting on a benefit concert as a memorial and fundraiser, reaching out to tornado victims and their families. Wilburn & Wilburn were one of the musicians highlighted at the concert.
“We wanted to bring light to the victims and families and all of those who were affected by the recent tragic events. Our hope was that people would come and listen to music and be blessed,” Jordan Wilburn said.
This isn’t the first time that Wilburn & Wilburn has brought aid to tornado victims through their talents. In 2011, when tornadoes devastated the state of Alabama, their home state, Wilburn & Wilburn used their gift of music to help bring healing and peace to a grief-stricken community.
“We saw the destruction that the tornadoes caused in Alabama, and because of that experience, we wanted to help in any way that we could to support Mississippi in their time of need,” Jonathan Wilburn said.
Although the concert was free and open to the public, donations were accepted and the money raised went to the CREATE Foundation for the Northeast Mississippi Tornado Relief Fund.

Wilburn and Wilburn Takes On New Meaning
Gadsden, AL (May 9, 2014) In a world where words often have double meaning, kind of like a Bass singer and catching a Bass on a fishing line Wilburn and Wilburn has also taken on new meaning. For the past few years Wilburn and Wilburn has meant father and son singing together. It seems now it means cousins playing together.
Jonathan Wilburn the father half of Wilburn and Wilburn joyously stated "It's double trouble in the Wilburn household. It's all because there are two brand new Wilburn and Wilburn fans. Marley Lynn Wilburn and Julia Elaine Vines have finally made their grand entrance into the world. I never knew that having grandbabies could put such a big smile on my face.”
Marley is a St. Patrick's Day baby. She was born on March 17, 2014 at 5:21 pm at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Marley is the daughter of Jordan and Lauren Wilburn. According to her dad, she came out showcasing a strong set of lungs. Marley weighed 7 lbs 7 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long with a head full of dark hair. Marley is named after her maternal grandmother, Lynn.
Julia Elaine Vines made her a debut appearance just a few days before Mother's Day. There's no greater gift than that. Julia was born May 8, 2014 at 7:56 pm at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Julia is the daughter of Dexter Vines and Jessica Wilburn Vines. She weighed 6 lbs 15 oz and was 20 inches long with beautiful blonde hair. Julia is named after her maternal great grandmother, Elaine Wilburn, who is a staple name in Southern Gospel Music.
With these two baby girls being born just 7 1/2 weeks apart, it is no doubt that a forever friendship is in their future. Will these two make a new addition to Wilburn or Wilburn, or part two of the dynamic duo? I guess we all need to stay tuned.

The Mark Dubbeld Family Van Broken Into And Robbed

Greenwood, IN (April 15, 2013) For the second time in one week another Southern Gospel family has been robbed. Earlier this week Wilburn and Wilburn were robbed as they went in to eat at a Cracker Barrel Restaurant. This time the Mark Dubbeld Family had their van broken into and valuables taken.
In the words of Mark Dubbeld “My wife, Vincent and I were doing some shopping in Greenwood, IN at the Mall and we had gone into the store to purchase some clothes for the group. When we came out we just got into the Van and took off. Then all of a sudden Vincent said 'Where is my computer?' I said 'Are you sure you had it in the Van?' He said 'Yes!'. Then I remembered that I had been charging my smartphone in the vehicle...So we quickly pulled back into the Mall area and tried to flag down a security car. Once he came over we saw where the thief had broken into the drivers side door and there was a hole in the side door near the the key lock.”
As they thought the situation over for a bit Mark said “We were shocked, but yet at the same time very thankful. We had all of our wallets with us and we only lost our money bag with about $125.00 in it, Vincent lost his Mac Computer, and I lost my smart phone, but we are all safe and sound."
The Dubbelds have been working since then to secure all email and other accounts. They wish to thank everyone for praying for their family this weekend. They are grateful for being able to continue on to Illinois for their concerts on Sunday. Mark said "We trust in the strength of our Lord for his Blessing and continued help."

Gold City News
From Gold City's email newsletter November 7, 2012:
WEEKEND REWIND
It was a great weekend on the Gold City bus. We started out Thursday in Murfreesboro, TN at Farmer’s Family Restaurant, where the place was packed, the food was great, and the hospitality was warm and friendly. It was great to be with our friends, Wilburn and Wilburn, and we had a chance to do some jammin’ together near the end of the concert. The house was rocking by the time we were done. After that we headed to Bardstown, KY where we had a great time as well. Saturday brought us an unusual day off. It’s rare we have down time on the road, but we quickly embraced it and headed to the Opry Mills Mall where we dined and caught a movie. It was great to see the Bowlings in passing while we were at Prevost washing the bus. They were headed out for their weekend. On Sunday morning, we completed our tour for the week at Calvary Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN, where we had an awesome time as well.
VETERAN SALUTE
This Sunday is Veteran’s Day and we want to take this time to say thank you to our own Tim Riley for his service to our country during the Vietnam War. Tim is featured in a story about military heroes in the current November issue of Singing News Magazine. It’s this time of year we are reminded that only two forces have ever offered to lay down their life for you–Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. If you have or are currently serving our country, we thank you for your selfless sacrifice so that we may live in the land of the free.

HOPE FOR OUR COUNTRY
Don't worry, I am not going to make a political statement! I know that some are happy and some are not happy about the results of the election yesterday. No matter how you feel about it, no matter who is in the White House, we can rest assured that God is in control... His throne is above all others, and we will all stand before Him one day and answer for the choices we make. There is only one hope, only one answer to the problems we face in our country:
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." -2 Chronicles 7:14
That's it friends. Be encouraged! Have a great week!
