Attention SGNScoops readers! Join in the Holiday fun at SGNScoops! We
want you to participate in our “Christmas Traditions” Contest. We’re
looking for traditions you’ve grown up with, carry out now and will pass
along. Here’s what you do: Email us your favorite tradition and your
contact information to connect@sgnscoops.com. The Scoops Staff will choose one winner on Monday, December 19th.
Our winner this year will win author, Phillip W. Rodgers’
“Discovering God” series of Children’s books. Each of the
four autographed books answer important questions about God such as: How Tall is God?, Does God Celebrate Christmas?, When Was God Born? and When does God sleep? The
books are designed to encourage a God-centered worldview and focuses on
a characteristic of God. The illustrations are colorful and the rhyming
text is written in terms children easily understand. Ruth Graham says,
“Phillip W. Rodgers’ books are delightful-from the engaging
illustrations to the clever poetry to the eternal truths they teach. I
am using them with my grandchildren- and enjoying them as much if not
more than the children. As I read them, I am reminded of the great
realities about God that sometimes get forgotten in my busy grown-up
world.”
A children’s book collection endorsed by Focus on the Family would be
a GREAT gift for your children or grandchildren! SGNScoops says “Thank
You” to Phillip W. Rodgers for your generous donation. To learn more

Focus on the Family Teams with TVGuardian to Offer Profanity-Free TV
New device connects to TV sets, mutes all forms of profanity
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., May 25, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Focus on the Family is expanding its efforts to help parents protect their children by teaming up with TVGuardian to provide clean entertainment choices for families. The organizations are working together to make the TVGuardian filter, a device that eliminates objectionable language, available to more families.
TVGuardian is a small unit that, when connected to television sets, automatically mutes all forms of profanity and inappropriate language from broadcast television, cable, satellite and DVDs. TVGuardian was designed to work with programs and movies that would otherwise be enjoyable entertainment options for families if objectionable language were eliminated.
Rich Bennett, vice president of Focus on the Family's Family Strategy Office, sees these resources as vital in the effort to help families with the challenges presented by modern media.
"Parents are continuously bombarded with media messages that are at odds with how they are raising their children," Bennett said. "Many are at a loss as to how to combat this as technology advances and objectionable entertainment content increases. TVGuardian is an essential resource in helping parents create positive, safe entertainment experiences that affirm their family values."
The TVGuardian device, as well as additional safety resources, is available at www.focusonthefamily.com/safety.
Britt Bennett, president of TVGuardian, said his organization's goal is to offer families an alternative, positive entertainment experience.
"We are excited," he said, "to partner with Focus on the Family to assist and support more families."
TVGuardian is the newest part of Focus on the Family's Family Safety Suite, www.focusonthefamily.com/safety, which provides parents with resources and information to help their families.
