Do You Ever Just Want to Scream

I received an email the other day from a friend of mine, containing a blog written by Cecil Murphey called "A Screaming Place", courtesy of crosswalk.com . Cecil wrote that sometimes people don't feel like coming to church and worshipping together; sometimes you are just in a place in your life where you have a need to scream. Well, I don't advocate that between the choir's special number and the bible passage there should be a time to let out your primal roar...but I understand what Cecil was getting at.
I have been there. I have been at the edge of the frayed end of the tiny cord that is attached to my sanity and my faith. I have been so utterly overwhelmed with life that there are no coherent thoughts left, there is only a question mark. My desperation releases itself in tears rather than screams, however. And when Cecil heads to the car, I head to a room where I can close the door and fall on my knees.
We all have our prayer closets and that's where I go because I know when I am in that state, when I have nothing and no one left to rely on but God...certainly not myself...I have to go to Him and let Him hear my cry.
If you ever think that no one felt the way you are feeling, when you are that low...read the Psalms and think again. Read about Job in the ash heap. Read about Jesus in the Garden.
I have to admit I didn't use to understand what it was like to feel this way. When I was younger, before the stuff of life hit, I really did think that Christians had bubble wrap around them. I certainly lost that false notion.
Life hits us all. Hard. And sometimes you need to scream. Sometimes you need to fall to your knees and sob till there are no tears left. Sometimes you need to run till your feet are bleeding.
The comforting thought is that God understands. He has heard it before and it doesn't scare Him. Your questions, your asking "Why" doesn't change Who He is or what He can do. What it can do is release your mind and your spirit from the entrapment of self and allow you to wait on Him for answers.
"Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord...we will wait upon the Lord...we will wait upon the Lord."
Go ahead...scream, cry, run, ask...and keep on asking. Then wait for the Answer. He will come. He will strengthen you.

Chattanooga, TN- Scott Johnson, the gifted and talented lead singer for Homeland Recording artist Three Bridges has developed complications following knee surgery. On Friday August 21 Scott was admitted to the hospital for a surgical procedure to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament of his left leg. One week after surgery, Scott began to experience flu like symptoms of high fever and chills. Scott notified his Doctor of the symptoms and asked if it could be a possible reaction to the procedure, whereupon he was advised that he had probably contracted the flu and was advised to treat the symptoms accordingly. On Thursday September 3rd, though still feeling weak and feverish, Scott accompanied Three Bridges on a five day series of programs in Texas. During the entire trip Scott continued to experience great discomfort, high fever and flu like symptoms. Upon returning to Chattanooga, he waited until Tuesday the 8th to contact his surgeon to advise him of his condition and since then Scott has been re-admitted to the hospital where he has now undergone two additional surgical procedures and the last of which was to completely undo everything that had been done in the initial surgery. As of this news report Scott continues to run a high temperature and experience post traumatic surgical symptoms. Elliott McCoy and Eddy Bolton of Three Bridges would like to ask that all of our fans and believing brothers and sisters of the Faith continue to petition the Great Physician for a complete healing touch. Homeland Recruits Michael Douchette as A&R Director for new Christian Country Label, Mounteagle Records

Homeland Entertainment Group announced today the development of their brand new Christian Country label, Monteagle Records, as they recruited and welcomed aboard new A&R Director, Michael Douchette, of Gallatin, TN.
“We are excited about Mike coming on board,” stated Bob Jones, CEO of Homeland Entertainment Group. “We believe Christian Country music is a very important genre in today’s music scene. Mike will be signing groups on our new Monteagle Christian Country label and will be the A & R Director for the label.”
Under Jones direction, Homeland has had over a 40 year track record of Southern Gospel music success with such names as Rambo’s, Oak Ridge Boys, Bill Gaither Trio, Stamps Quartet, Imperials, Speer Family, and Cathedral Quartet, making the legendary Nashville-based entertainment company “home.”
Douchette is the son of the late, William Douchette, (stage name: “Sheriff” Tex Davis) who with Gene Vincent penned the 50’s rock sensation, “Be-Bop-a-Lula.” The song, along with Sheriff Tex’s management, songwriting, and country music radio experience as a DJ, landed him in a promoter position with Nashville-based Monument Records. In 1967, he began making an even greater impact on music row. Sheriff Tex promoted and ignited the explosive careers of Dolly Parton, Jeanne Seely, Kris Kristofferson, and many other successful artists. His business savvy, charismatic personality, and passion for music landed him in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, stamping his name in music history as a pioneer in country music, and giving him the distinct status as one of Nashville’s Rock and Roll founders.
With a rich music heritage planted and cultivated by his father, Michael Douchette’s career began at age 19 in a harmonica overdub with Ronnie Prophet and continues flourishing today. His many contributions to the music industry reads like a who’s who of not only Country music, but Southern Gospel music as well. A short list of his credits includes a seven-year tour with George Jones and Tammy Wynette.
Douchette’s creditability and phenomenal talents positioned him early on as one of the most in-demand session players in both Country and Gospel music. His distinct harmonica contributions to the legendary Alabama “Mountain Music” platinum project is only one example of a lifelong list of his credits.
With this latest move into Homeland Entertainment Group’s top Christian Country slot, Douchette will be following in his father’s footsteps as he develops new artists and helps them realize their career goals. Having been bathed in country music from childhood, and having steadily built a respected name reminiscent of his father’s, industry insiders are expecting positive results from his endeavors ahead. General consensus: Douchette will develop and launch new artists onto the music scene, expanding Christian Country into new arenas with much success. Many colleagues who have worked with him during his 35 years in the music industry predict the “Douchette” name will once again go down in history.

Not Yet Harvest Time

We had a little patch of soil in the front of our new house that I just had to fill with seed this spring. A packet of "wildflowers" and a packet of Forget Me Nots went in, and did absolutely nothing until about August. Then suddenly we had flowers! I kept looking for the little blue Forget Me Nots because I love the colour. Then I realized that the little pink ones were actually the Forget Me Nots...they can be pink...and it totally surprised me.
Mark in the New Testament records some of Jesus's Kingdom Parables and compares the Kingdom of God to a seed being planted in the ground. Days go by, and then a plant grows. It's completely different from the seed and has nothing to do with the person who planted it. Sure, if it's watered, fertilized, etc, the plant can be stronger and more vibrant. But basically the planter can't 'make' the seed grow.
We talked about this in our devotions at work one day and there were some interesting parallels from this story to the growth of Jesus' life in ours. There was the usual 'evangelistic connotation'...you may plant a seed in someone's life without even knowing, or deliberately, but you may not see growth - that doesn't mean it hasn't taken root. But there are other interesting truths we can gather from this description of the Kingdom.
Kingdome life in us...the love, mercy, grace and everything that Jesus is...will continue to grow. It is not dependent on our works. Yes, developing an intimate relationship with Him will make it stronger and more vibrant, but it will grow no matter what works we think we can chalk up to our side of the ledger.
Kingdom life looks very different from the seed it started as, and we can never rely on our own wisdom to know what it will look like in the future. We may think we are getting blue Forget Me Nots, but that may not be what appears!
The Kingdom of God is also in the future...what we are now is not what we will be, and the Eternal Kingdom that God has in mind is not what we see now. He is preparing His kingdom, and us, for an amazing eternity that we 'can only imagine'.
We are harvesting crops from our gardens now but the harvest God has planned from the eternal seeds He has planted in His children is beyond our comprehension. Till then, let's keep planting seeds, watering, fertilizing, and trusting God that He will grow Himself in us.
