StowTown Records Signs The Perrys

(Nashville, Tenn.) – StowTown Records is honored to announce the exclusive signing of The Perrys - undisputedly one of the leading names in Southern Gospel music - to its growing family of artists.

Inked during a celebration at the offices of Provident/Sony Distribution, this new partnership - between the legendary Perrys and StowTown founders Ernie Haase and Wayne Haun - is a natural outgrowth of the mutual respect, friendship and admiration built throughout the years they've shared stages across the country. Haase is quick to explain his excitement about the signing: “I have known Libbi and Tracy for about 20 years now. They are my favorite kind of people -- humble and full of the love of Jesus. It is my honor to finally get to work with them. I believe the best is yet to come!”

One of the most-awarded groups in Southern Gospel music during their storied 41-year career, The Perrys’ roster currently includes Libbi Perry Stuffle -- the unforgettable alto who carries on the family legacy, her husband and beloved bass singer Tracy Stuffle, their son Jared (JK) Stuffle -- assisting on bass vocals, lead singer David Ragan, and baritone Bryan Walker.

2013 has been a challenging year for The Perrys, with the ongoing recovery of Tracy Stuffle after his initial stroke in January. However, Tracy's recent return to selected dates and featured songs with the group serves as a picture of grace and hope to the prayer warriors who have joined The Perrys on this journey of faith. Tracy -- who signed the contract himself -- is clearly grateful: “Lib and I, along with our guys, Bryan, David, and JK, are so excited about our joint venture with StowTown Records and Provident/Sony Distribution. We look forward to many years of a lasting relationship with both companies. We have always had a wonderful relationship with our long-time producer Wayne Haun, and are excited that this new chapter will still include him. We are very
much looking forward to what the Lord and the future is gonna hold for The Perrys.”

Their new project is expected to release in March 2014, so fans should follow The Perrys on social media for updates on the recording process, as well as upcoming concerts, events, and Tracy's recovery. Libbi's heartfelt updates and prayer postings on Facebook have also become a must-read for both new and long-time fans of the group.

About Godsey and Associates
In the last quarter of 2011, Scott Godsey started a team making music videos for Christian artists. That soon developed into not only working inside the Christian music business, but going outside of the Christian music world. Soon after, the company expanded into other genres. G&A started working with churches, authors, and organizations. The Godsey & Associate formula works with any company that
wants to focus on brand building and getting in front of an audience.

About Jim Sheldon
After serving many years as music minster, there was a void yet filled. In 1994, joined my first gospel quartet. Immediately, I knew singing gospel music was God's true calling for my life. He confirmed this with a paraphrase of Proverbs 3:6 - "In everything you do put God first, He will direct and crown your efforts with success."

My greatest inspiration came from Glenn Payne. The Cathedrals sang at my church in Virginia. He told me:"Vocalize daily and never sing out of your range. Remember, God gave you the ability and desire. Honor Him with a servant's heart."
Now God says it's time to tell my story of how God has brought me out from a long 'wilderness time' of sin, shame and disgrace to where I am today.

OMEGA Trio becomes OMEGA Quartet!

Dahlonega, GA -(10-25-2013) OMEGA Trio becomes OMEGA Quartet!
On the very recent heels of hiring Kevin Harry as their new lead singer, OMEGA prayerfully made the decision to become a quartet!
After several discussions, a close friend of the group called with a name and a huge recommendation. Phone calls were made and an audition weekend was scheduled. It only took one sound check singing a few songs and the group knew they had found the right man for the job.
OMEGA is pleased to announce that Rick Walls will be the new bass singer for the group. Rick is no stranger to Southern Gospel. He sang bass for the Grand Strand Gospel Hour at the Gatlin Bros Theatre in Myrtle Beach, and most recently toured with the Holy City Quartet. Jeff Chapman of the Kingdom Heirs states, “I think Rick is a fine bass singer and will be a great addition to Omega”.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity the Lord has given me to minister with the three anointed men from Omega. Their passion and desire to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ is something that I am looking forward to being a part of for many years to come”, says Rick.
Doug Pittman, group owner, says “Rick is the full package! His enthusiasm and love for the Gospel is evident in all that he does. Not only does he have a great bass voice, he also has a heart for people. This partnership between Rick and Omega is perfect and God ordained. He sees eye to eye with our mission: to spread the love of God through His word in music.”
Rick will make his first official appearance with the group at the Creekside Gospel Music Convention October 28,2013.

Actor/entertainer Randall Franks “Mountain Opry Memories” CD raises funds for two non-profits

Cover artwork of Mountain Opry Memories (Courtesy Share America Foundation, Inc.)

International Bluegrass Music Museum Legend Randall Franks shares his talents for a new Share America Foundation fundraising CD.

“Mountain Opry Memories” is a collection of impromptu performances recorded live at the Mountain Opry in Walden, Tenn. on Signal Mountain.

"One of the favorite places my late mother Pearl Franks loved to go was the Mountain Opry," he said. "Of course, each time I took her, I found myself on stage sharing a few songs for the audience ably assisted by volunteer musicians also appearing that night.”

Franks is best known as “Officer Randy Goode” from TV’s “In the Heat of the Night,” a role he performed on NBC and CBS from 1988-1993. He stars regularly in films for UpTV and starred with Robert Townsend in the series - “Musical Theater of Hope.” His most recent film is “Lukewarm” with John Schneider, Nicole Gale Anderson and Bill Cobbs.

The Independent Country Music Hall of Fame member was honored in 2013 by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal for his community service and philanthropy benefiting the people of Georgia.

Franks’s musical stylings have been heard in 150 countries and by more than 25 million Americans. His musical career boasts 19 album releases, 19 singles, and over 200 recordings with various artists from various genres. The award-winning fiddler’s best selling release, "Handshakes and Smiles" was a top twenty Christian music seller. Many of his albums were among the top 30-bluegrass recordings of their release year. The Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame member shared a top country vocal collaboration with Grand Ole Opry stars The Whites. His work connects him with 33 International Bluegrass Hall of Fame, 10 Country Music Hall of Fame, 9 Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and 3 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. In addition to his solo career including 13 years guest starring for the Grand Ole Opry, Franks is a former member of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys, Jim and Jesse's Virginia Boys and has performed with Jeff and Sheri Easter, The Lewis Family, the Marksmen Quartet, the Watkins Family, Elaine and Shorty, “Doc” Tommy Scott’s Last Real Old Time Medicine Show and Doodle and the Golden River Grass.

Enthusiasts of Southern Appalachian music began the Mountain Opry in 1979.

“We work to provide a place for folks to gather from all around the world and hear the authentic singers and musicians of our region perform and jam,” said Ken Holloway, Mountain Opry president.

Franks recalls his first appearance there was as a youth with the multi-award winning Marksmen Quartet.

“The Mountain Opry is free and held each Friday night inside a 1920s auditorium that has found entertainers from around the country appearing on the stage that has been the focus of a long-running radio show and several television specials,” he said.

The CD project was the brainchild of producers Tom Adkins of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Tom Morgan of Dayton, Tenn. who initially desired to document a joint performance by Adkins and Franks at the venue.

“Tom Adkins met me as a youth at Stone Mountain’s Yellow Daisy Festival in Georgia,” Franks said. “Tom often shared encouragement with me and backed me at fiddle contests. Co-producer Tom Morgan also was an early encourager in my musical life and continues to play a role to this day including bringing me to the attention of my grandmother’s ancestral home in Rhea County, Tenn. who honored my career with an exhibit alongside Curly Fox in its Courthouse Museum.”

Engineer Martin Fisher of Middle Tennessee State University assisted in preparing the 2001 recordings featuring Adkins and Franks.

Tom Adkins is a pioneering Tennessee Valley multi-instrumentalist marking 71 years of performing. Among the groups he performed with are Lock Stock and Barrel, Down Yonder, Bill Lowery and the Lookout Valley Boys, Maynard Renfro and the Hymn Time Gang, Weldon Turner and his Turnovers and the Tennessee Hy-Ryders. He was a regular for many years appearing with various acts at the Mountain Opry.

Adkins said he sees the project as a way to continue the work of encouraging youth in Appalachian music started by the Share America Foundation, Inc. through its Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholarship and also provide some funds for the Mountain Opry, which also benefits.

“Music is a wonderful part of my life,” Adkins said. “I wanted to do this in remembrance of my late wife Faye who also shared a love of music that she supported me in enjoying. Once Tom and Randall became involved, the project became much more than I could have imagined as Randall added songs from many performances creating a unique listening experience.”

Morgan, a legendary bluegrass and folk musician joined served as co-producer. He is a pioneering member of the legendary bluegrass group the Country Gentlemen. He and his late wife Mary entertained throughout the country recording for Folkways Records and supporting legendary performers such as Grand Ole Opry star Curly Fox and fiddler Benny Williams. The duo was founders of the Chattanooga Area Friends of Folk Music. A multi-instrumentalist and luthier, Morgan also performed with Buzz Busby, Red Allen & Frank Wakefield and the Kentuckians.

“While the music is off the cuff, it represents the synergy between performers sharing their talents for an audience with all the fun and magic of our musical heritage in a way that reflects such a wonderful legacy,” he said.

Randall Franks engineered the remainder of the recordings spanning from 1999-2010.

“We worked to bring the collection together in a way that reflects a full show even though the recordings span many appearances,” Franks said.

Following an introduction by Holloway, Franks opens with the upbeat “Fire on the Mountain.” He then navigates the audience through a variety of comedic comments and stories such as “A Tunnel Runs Through It,” country and western standards including “Send Me the Pillow,” “Red River Valley,” “Crawdad Song,” “Ya’ll Come,” and songs unique to his career like the “Sparta Impound Blues.”

He welcomes special guest David Davis for a live gospel duet “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” and joins the late country pioneer Charlie “Peanut” Faircloth and a country band for “The Kind of Love I Can’t Forget.”

In the tradition of the Southern Appalachian fiddle bands - Adkins and Franks both fiddle on tunes including “Boil Dem Cabbage Down,” “Faded Love,” and “Turkey in the Straw” and Adkins plays behind Franks as he sings “The Old Black Fiddle.”

In keeping with his focus on encouraging youth, Franks, who serves as president of the Share America Foundation, is joined by the Mountain Cove Bluegrass Band including three Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholars for the bluegrass standard “Foggy Mountain Breakdown.”

“This CD project is a tremendous way for people to support two ongoing programs that provide an opportunity for youth to grow on stage in the traditional music of our region while offering the opportunity for folks to find quality family entertainment,” said Joe Turner, Share America chairman. “And of course, through our program it enhances our ability to encourage them as they pursue their college education.”

Franks closes his show with the support of members of the Valley Grass who appear on many of the cuts by performing “Orange Blossom Special.”

Musicians who donated their performances for the project are Randall Franks - fiddle and guitar, Terry Hatfield - guitar, Brian Blaylock - mandolin, Stacy Wilcox - banjo, Randy Pryor - bass, Tom Adkins - fiddle, Ken Holloway - guitar, John De Grote - bass, David Davis - mandolin, Charlie “Peanut” Faircloth - harmonica, Charles Chambers - guitar, Joe Chambers - guitar, Rocky Ramsey - guitar, Gary Denham - bass, Jimmy Givens - banjo, Merielle Flood - bass, Cody Harvey - banjo, Mike Holloway - bass, Wil Markham - fiddle, Colin Mabry - guitar, Tyler Martelli - harmonica and mandolin, and Austin Adkins - guitar.

Photography for the CD was donated by Brother Andrew Thorne and Randall Franks.

“The Mountain Opry has offered an amazing place for musicians to grow and learn,” Franks said. “I am honored that I was one of the many who stood on stage there through the years and I hope that the music continues emanating there for years to come."

The Share America Foundation produces 10 fundraising Sacred Sounds Fridays concerts annually at the Ringgold Depot in Ringgold. Their next event is Nov. 8, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.

Randall Franks “Mountain Opry Memories” is available for a $16 donation at www.shareamericafoundation.org or to the Share America Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 42, Tunnel Hill, Ga. 30755. It is also available for download on Itunes and Amazon.com. Fans may also Like the CD on Facebook. For more information about Franks, visit randallfranks.com.

FARM HANDS BLUEGRASS QUARTET OFFERS OPPORTUNITY FOR NEW SONGWRITERS

The Farm Hands Bluegrass Quartet is rich in songwriting talent. Bass player Daryl Mosley, banjo player Bennie Boling and guitarist Kevin Williamson have each had successful careers writing songs recorded by numerous bluegrass, country, and Christian artists.

Now, the band is offering an exciting opportunity for an up-and-coming songwriter to have a song recorded and released nationally on the next Farm Hands CD.

Daryl Mosley, writer of one of the biggest songs in gospel music history, ‘He Saw It All’, says the band empathizes with the struggling songwriter.

“We remember what it was like, as a young songwriter, to have songs you really believe in, but not have the relationships necessary to get the songs to recording artists. We want to be proactive in helping songwriters get a real start.”

From now until December 15th, the band is asking songwriters who have never had a song recorded by a national, touring artist to submit their best song. “We will listen to all of the songs submitted and select one that will be included on our next CD,” says Bennie Boling, writer of songs recorded by The Oak Ridge Boys, Gene Watson, and others. “I’m excited to hear them. I know there are some real gems out there.”

Kevin Williamson, who has written songs for Claire Lynch and others, is hopeful this will help someone get a head start on their dream. “We owe a debt of gratitude to those who helped us along when we were first getting started. The best way to pay that debt is to do the same for others.”

About The Freemans
History, experience and spiritual wisdom are three attributes that can be used to describe the foundation of the Freeman ministry. Deeply rooted with family, the Freemans experience spans 30+ years. From Darrell’s entrance at age 16 with his family’s group, the Pathways, to Chris’s award-winning teenage years with the Hinsons, the Freemans know the ins and outs of Southern Gospel music.

No doubt, Chris’s unique sound is the reason she was the youngest female artist ever to receive the coveted “Queen of Gospel Music” award two years in a row (’76, ’77) as voted by the readers of Singing News Magazine. In 1980, the lives of Darrel and Chris Freeman became one when they married on August 2nd. After singing with the Pathways for three years Darrell and Chris headed for Nashville and began the Freemans. Joe Freeman, Darrell’s cousin, soon joined them as the third part harmony, as well as their keyboard player. With this sound they have garnered tremendous growth and success.

In 1997, Darrell and Chris’s daughter, Misty, began playing acoustic guitar with the group on stage. Then in 1998, she began singing with them when they recorded Standing Out. Also on stage is Caylon Freeman, Darrell and Chris’s youngest child. He decided to join his family on the road full-time in 2002. He is now playing the drums and singing some with the group.

Now in their 20th year, the Freemans, still do approximately 250 dates a year, and continue to experience tremendous success.

Channing Eleton Comes To Agreement With AG Publicity

Dalton, GA (October 10, 2013) Award winning talent, Channing Eleton, has come to an agreement with AG Publicity. Channing who is well known for piano artistry is now showing his wares as a phenomenal vocalist as well.

Eleton won several awards for his musicianship while traveling with Gold City Quartet and Poet Voices. His opportunities were limited as far as his incredible vocal talents being displayed. With his Country and Americana blend he has a voice that is going to attract fans from a lot of genres.

Channing stated “I have been working for the past five years, trying to get established as a viable singer. I think I am at the point that a publicity firm with the credibility of AG Publicity can get me the exposure I need to set my ministry and career on another level.”

Channing's last CD featured a few of his own songs, but the new project he is working on is proof that he has yet moved a step in another direction. Deon Unthank of AG Publicity commented “Channing has been know for years as a great musician, recently he has established himself as an equally impressive singer, but now the stage is set to show his talents as the prolific songwriter that he is. I recently had the opportunity to hear some of his new music, and he just blew me away. This man has the real goods.”

Eleton is working on that new CD and expects to have it complete shortly after the first of the year. Anticipation is already building to hear what he can do with his own music.

About Channing Eleton
For 4 1/2 years, he toured extensively with Poet Voices playing concerts from Delaware to California and from Canada to the Carribean. This led to so many great things for Eleton. He gained valuable experience while on the road, making many, many new friends.

Channing married his sweetheart, Christina Fleming, whom he’d met two years prior at a Poet Voices concert. Channing continues, “I know when I’m up on that stage, she’s praying for me. Words can’t even begin to describe how I feel. I am blessed more than I deserve. I’m so thankful!”

March 23, 2000 finds Eleton joining Gospel music super-group, Gold City. For the next six years, he tours as part Gold City’s ‘Band Of Gold’. In September of that year, Gold City’s band with Eleton, won The Singing News Fan Award for ‘BAND OF THE YEAR’. In May of 2001, the Southern Gospel Music Association named Channing Eleton as its ‘Musician Of The Year’. “I take great pride in this honor because it was voted on and awarded to me by my peers.” October of 2005, Channing resigned his position as Gold City’s keyboardist. Channing reflects, “I’ll always be thankful for my days spent with Gold City”.

Channing says “The older I get, the more I realize that God uses the different seasons of our lives to prepare for us what’s to come. I have learned to keep looking ahead. Keep plowing forward, while enjoying the present and living each day to its fullest.”
