DALLAS – Oct. 31, 2012 – Supporters are literally racing to help promote the inspiring faith film UNDAUNTED: THE EARLY LIFE OF JOSH McDOWELL, which launched on DVD this month. NASCAR team MacDonald Motorsports; author and film producer Jeff Elliott; and film distributor EchoLight Studios team with Josh McDowell Ministry to highlight the film at Saturday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at the Texas Motor Speedway with on-car promotion, DVD giveaways and special appearances by McDowell with drivers and race fans.
“The opportunity to reach NASCAR’s vast audience with UNDAUNTED’s message of hope and the power of forgiveness is truly awesome,” said McDowell, a world-renown Christian apologist, author and humanitarian. “I know this story of finding faith and God’s love through the most challenging circumstances will resonate and spread word of the film to many who need to hear about it.”
UNDAUNTED: THE EARLY LIFE OF JOSH McDOWELL is an award-winning, “pull no punches” docudrama. A dysfunctional family life, an alcoholic and violent father, and a sexually abusive worker on the family farm contributed to deep scars in McDowell’s life, causing him to deny God's existence. UNDAUNTED unfolds the dramatic spiritual transformation that occurs when Josh faces his past head-on and puts everything in God's hands. Produced by Moonlit Pictures, UNDAUNTED is distributed by EchoLight Studios.
The NASCAR opportunity for UNDAUNTED weaves a fascinating story in itself. Many members of the MacDonald Motorsports team have long supported Motor Racing Outreach (MRO), which offers chapel services for NASCAR drivers and teams. Inspired by the UNDAUNTED story, MacDonald Motorsports truly stepped up by making the car available through a sponsorship package to gain awareness for the film, and Josh’s story of God’s love.
Enter Jeff Elliott, a retired Illinois firefighter telling an overcoming faith story of his own. Elliott wrote a book and has now connected to SOUL SURFER producer Dutch Hoffstetter to make HOOVEY, a film about his son miraculously recovering from brain tumor surgery and eventually achieving his dream to play college basketball. Working with EchoLight Studios, which has green lit HOOVEY based on the true story, Elliott learned of UNDAUNTED and the NASCAR opportunity. He immediately felt compelled to help underwrite the cost of the sponsorship.
“A story like Josh’s—of faith winning out over adversity—just touched my heart because in my family we needed that same faith as our son faced brain surgery,” Elliott said. “I’m proud to be a part of bringing Josh and UNDAUNTED to ‘NASCAR nation.’”
With the sponsorship, McDowell gains a rare opportunity to encourage NASCAR teams at the Motor Racing Outreach services this Saturday before the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge, part of NASCAR’s Nationwide Series. And in addition to other exposure, McDowell will also lead Sunday’s MRO services before NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series AAA Texas 500, and be on hand for the race, meeting drivers, teams and fans and encouraging them with his story.
"Being able to take advantage of this NASCAR opportunity—people coming together to inspire and uplift—is exactly the kind of story EchoLight Studios was created to share,” EchoLight Chief Global Strategist Christopher Morrow said. “What a privilege it is to partner in bringing the vital message of UNDAUNTED to NASCAR’s millions of fans.”
UNDAUNTED is available now through such leading online and retail providers as ChristianCinema.com, Amazon.com, CBD, Family Christian Stores and Walmart among many others.

DALLAS – Sept. 17, 2012 – Millions of people know Josh McDowell as a leading apologist for the Christian faith, a presence for decades on college campuses, a humanitarian and the author of more than 138 books including New Evidence That Demands a Verdict and More Than a Carpenter.
But far fewer people know Josh McDowell as the child of an alcoholic father and a physically challenged mother; a boy who suffered years of sexual abuse by a man who worked on the family farm.
Welcome to UNDAUNTED—THE EARLY LIFE OF JOSH McDOWELL. With this award-winning, “pull no punches” docudrama, McDowell takes viewers into the terrible circumstances of his boyhood, ultimately lifting them up with the inspiring, true story of how he came to faith and learned to forgive his tormenters.
“I am very sure that this will get people to have more confidence to share their own testimony,” McDowell told the Christian Post. “When I look into the audience, wherever I speak, I know that a third of them have suffered some kind of sexual abuse.”
Distributed by EchoLight Studios, UNDAUNTED, which features and is narrated by McDowell, dramatizes the life of an 11-year-old who curses God for the abusive life he faces. Finding escape in athletics and the Air Force, McDowell eventually enters college, trying his best to intimidate and humiliate the few Christians on campus. A challenge to him to disprove the resurrection starts a two-year investigation in the U.S. and Europe. Becoming convinced that the evidence supports Christian claims, the former skeptic begins attending church, eventually giving his life to Christ. Over a period of a year and half, McDowell grows in his faith, eventually forgiving his father (who quit drinking in response and became a powerful Christian witness in his hometown) and finding and forgiving the abusive farmhand. Ultimately, these encounters with grace lead the young McDowell to offer his life to God’s service.
The powerful film recently earned two Crown Awards for Best Evangelistic Film and Best Documentary from the International Christian Visual Media Conference. UNDAUNTED is written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Cristobal Krusen.
"We couldn’t be more proud to partner with Josh McDowell, who has the strength to share this personal part of his life story,” EchoLight Chief Global Strategist Christopher Morrow said. “It’s an honor to work with someone who has had such an impact all over the world.”
In addition to McDowell, UNDAUNTED features Allen Williamson (ABDUCTION) as Josh as a young man, John Klicka (FOR THE GLORY) as the boy Josh and Tom Emmott as his father.
UNDAUNTED will be available Oct. 16 through such leading online and retail providers as Amazon.com, LifeWay Christian Stores and Family Christian Stores, among many others.

Josh McDowell Partners with Timothy Eldred and the Pray With Youth Campaign
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., July 7, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Pray With Youth(tm) campaign is a stand alone event for churches and faith communities who designate 9.11.11 to commit their congregations to helping young people find their place in the cause of Christ.
McDowell put his name and reputation on the line with Eldred 4 years ago when they announced Pray21(tm) (www.pray21.org) and called the church to a 21-day challenge which echoes this global campaign. Over 3,000 churches joined the 2007 challenge and an estimated 75,000 young leaders were prayed with during Pray21(tm).
"We are honored to have Josh's support again. He clearly recognizes the needs of this generation," says Timothy Eldred, President of Christian Endeavor International* ( www.christianendeavor.com) and founder of Pray With Youth(tm). "While many people look to "flash" in order to attract youth, Josh knows we need to return to foundational truths. Prayer is our problem; there's not enough of it happening. It's time to stop just praying 'for' and 'about' youth and start praying with them. That's more significant than we realize and just plain simple."
Many churches worldwide will begin the campaign on Sunday, August 21, and pray with youth over a 21 day period. Young people will connect with adult prayer partners who are dedicated to walking through this experience with youth ages 12-21. They will read, journal, and pray individually each day during that time and meet weekly to compare notes and see where and how God is speaking and revealing His call on their lives.
"Join me and take a moment to connect your congregation to this worldwide campaign from my friends at Christian Endeavor International, said McDowell. Please participate in this 21-day prayer challenge. I know we can have a real impact on the youth of this nation and beyond." he continued.
For over 40 years, the Josh McDowell Ministry, a division of Campus Crusade for Christ International, has focused on serving and equipping churches, pastors, families and people everywhere in raising generations of purpose-driven Christians who know what they believe, why it is true, and how to live out their Christian faith. To find out more about Josh McDowell and his ministry visit Josh.org.
Churches can register on praywithyouth.com and download all the necessary materials for the campaign free of charge. The goal this year is that 10,000 churches would participate and 250,000 young people would be prayed with to understand their unique calling today. Eldred concludes, "We believe that is an attainable goal, but we also believe it is just the beginning of what God can do when we trust Him for the results. Perhaps we'll see millions of youth recognize who they are in Christ."
