Mother's Day Essay Contest

Branchland, WV (April 29, 2013) Mothers are special people. When no one else stands with you, your Mother will. The closest thing to God's love is a Mother's love. Every year on the second Sunday in May we celebrate our Mothers. To honor these special women, Steven Lawson, Gospel singer extraordinaire, wants to hear about how special your Mother is.

Steven Lawson said, “The Bible tells us to respect our Mother so I recorded a song on my new CD to honor my Mother. “A Mom Like You” is sure to touch your Mother's heart.”

This special song was written by Jay Teter of Pigeon Forge TN. Jay has penned numerous songs both Gospel & country. He wrote this song a few years back for his Mom who was battling cancer, and is a cancer survivor.

Steven added “It has been an honor and privilege to record this special song on my new CD accompanied by Angie Hoskins Aldridge ( The Hoskins Family) I want to offer this song free to download so you can give it to your mother, grandmother or wife as a special Mother's Day Gift. This song hits home for me as my sweet Momma is my best friend, my mother and my biggest fan. Elizabeth " Bo" Lawson, I am so thankful and blessed to have “A MOM LIKE YOU”.

About Steven Lawson

Steven grew up in a small town in the hills of West Virginia, where at the young age of eight it was inevitable that he was destined to sing. During his early years, you could find him playing piano and singing every Sunday with members of his family's church.

He joined the legendary “Calvary Echoes” headed by the inspiring songwriter Conrad Cooke. After his season there, Steven found himself on a tour bus with one of gospel music's premier quartets,The Dixie Melody Boys, where he sang for two years.

Steven then formed his own group, The Royal Heirs. While Steven managed The Royal Heirs, he encouraged and promoted the talents of many young artists who are singing and performing today.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! May 10 we celebrate moms and almost every church will use that as their basic theme from the pulpit. I think it is great and needed as we are told in scriptures to honor our father and mother. Just for a moment though, please consider another side to this day: those that have lost their mother, those that have had an abusive mother, those that want to be mothers but never will. Please remember them in prayer on this day that may for some be very painful. Remember those that have never known a mother...and perhaps never known a father either. Remember the mothers caught in the 'sandwich generation' - caring for their children while caring for an elderly parent. While you honor your mother this Mother's Day, please say a prayer for those who be at a totally different place in their lives.
