ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR 26TH ANNUAL EXTRAVAGANZA

30 Acts to Perform on Four Stages During Four-day Hill Country Event

AUSTIN, Texas — The schedule is set for the 2013 Old Settler’s Music Festival, featuring some of the world’s finest roots, bluegrass and Americana artists including Michael Franti, Del McCoury Band, Son Volt, Martin Sexton, Jerry Douglas and Carolina Chocolate Drops. The 26th annual festival is slated for Thursday, April 18, through Sunday, April 21, at the Salt Lick BBQ Pavilion and Camp Ben McCulloch in the Texas Hill Country, just south of Austin on FM 1826.

In addition to “real music done right,” Old Settler’s offers workshops, sing-alongs, campground-stage jam sessions, kids’ activities, a market area full of unique arts and crafts, specialty foods and brews and of course, the Youth Talent Competition, where the headliners of tomorrow might gain early recognition. FULL LINEUP ANNOUNCED FOR 26TH OLD SETTLER’S MUSIC FESTIVAL

HEADLINERS INCLUDE MICHAEL FRANTI, DEL McCOURY BAND, SON VOLT


Nearly 30 Acts to Perform on Four Stages at Four-Day Event

AUSTIN, Texas — With newcomers such as roots-reggae star Michael Franti, soul singer James Hunter, old-time players the Carolina Chocolate Drops, heartlanders Son Volt, sweet-voiced Martin Sexton and country-folkie Justin Townes Earle, the 26th annual Old Settler’s Music Festival promises to be one of the most exciting ever.

Taking place April 18-21 at the Salt Lick Pavilion and Camp Ben McCulloch, south of Austin, the full lineup also includes returning favorites such as Leftover Salmon, Fred Eaglesmith and Bob Schneider. Single-day wristbands, 3- and 4-day packages, and the all-inclusive Platinum Pass are available at oldsettlersmusicfest.org, frontgatetickets.com or 888.512.SHOW.

This year’s roster also features Terri Hendrix, The Gourds, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Della Mae, Peter Rowan’s Twang an’ Groove and many others; nearly 30 acts will perform on four stages. Many artists, including Schneider, also participate in popular songwriting and performance workshops. Festival attractions include unique crafts, children’s activities, craft beer and food selections and, for the first time, private-label wines, produced for the festival by nearby Duchman Family Winery.

“It’s exciting to have such an eclectic array of artists on our stages this year,” says festival director Jean Spivey. “From the legendary bluegrass of Del McCoury to the uplifting, funky beats of Michael Franti, one thing all of our artists have in common is that they are really, really good. Our 26th year promises fabulous musical experiences as well as the Texas-friendly, easygoing atmosphere that defines Old Settler’s.”

AUSTIN, Texas — In its 26th year, Old Settler’s Music Festival is putting together one of its hottest lineups ever, but fans must act now to grab discounted ticket packages before they end on midnight Jan. 15. Single-day ticket sales begin Jan. 16 for the four-day bluegrass, roots and Americana festival, which takes place April 18-21 at the Salt Lick Pavilion and Camp Ben McCulloch south of Austin and features more than 30 acts.

The lineup so far includes roots-reggae star Michael Franti, Grammy nominees the Carolina Chocolate Drops, blue-eyed soulster James Hunter, festival fave Fred Eaglesmith, jam-band vets Leftover Salmon, Americana icons Son Volt, sweet-voiced troubadour Martin Sexton, bluegrass royalty the Del McCoury Band and Jerry Douglas, and folk-pop-honky-tonker Justin Townes Earle.

The roster also features local heroes Bob Schneider, Terri Hendrix and the Gourds; Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out; Della Mae; Peter Rowan’s Twang an’ Groove; Elephant Revival; 2012 Youth Competition winner Kimberly Zielnicki and more.

AUSTIN, Texas — Anticipation is already building for the 26th annual Old Settler’s Music Festival, which will feature the festival debuts of Grammy-winning string band the Carolina Chocolate Drops (above) and Americana singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle, plus the return of festival favorites the Del McCoury Band, Leftover Salmon and Fred Eaglesmith. Dobro master Jerry Douglas returns after a 15-year absence; local artists the Gourds and Terri Hendrix are also making return appearances. More artists will be announced in the coming weeks. Discounted early-bird packages go on sale today for the four-day festival, to be held April 18-21, 2013, at the Salt Lick Pavilion and Camp Ben McCulloch, in the beautiful hill country just outside of Austin. They are available at oldsettlersmusicfest.org and 1.888.512.SHOW.

Early-bird passes provide a savings of up to 24 percent over wristbands bought at the gate. Only a limited number will be sold at this price. Buying early assures access to camping at the popular Ben McCulloch grounds, site of a fourth stage and many special late-night jam sessions. Camping passes have sold out completely in the past two years.

Packages available for early-bird purchase are: four-day with camping; three-day with camping; three-day without camping; and all-inclusive platinum passes. Children 12 and under accompanied by a paid adult are admitted free.

More than 30 award-winning roots, bluegrass and Americana artists will grace the festival’s four stages; others confirmed so far are Peter Rowan, Elephant Revival, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Casey Driessen Singularity, Green Mountain Grass and 2012 Youth Competition winner Kimberly Zielnicki.
