Wetumka, OK (April 23, 2014) The award winning Williamsons of Wetumka, Oklahoma have been invited to perform for opening night of this year’s season of The Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs, Arkansas on May 2, 2014.
Darin Hebert, popular bass singer for The Williamsons, said, “We are humbled to be asked to participate at such a great event. Great things have been happening in Eureka Springs and The Williamsons are excited to be a part.”
Manager of the group, Donnie Williamson shared that in mid-December 2012 he received a call informing him that The Great Passion Play was going in to foreclosure on January 1. The Williamsons joined forces with The Gospel Station of Ada, Oklahoma and several business leaders and other concerned individuals in the Eureka Springs area and they raised $75,000.00 about three weeks. This was enough to satisfy creditors and hold off the foreclosure. 2013 proved to be the best season the park had seen in years. Attendance grew last season by at least 30% and even greater things are expected for 2014.
The park also plans to expose visitors to even more Gospel music in 2014 with their first major concert promotion on June 21 and 22. The Williamsons will be performing there again with other talented artist such at The Freemans, The Nelons, and Red Roots.

About The Williamsons
The Williamsons began sharing the Gospel through music in 1998 as The Homesteaders Quartet. The dream of Donnie Williamson was to form a group to sing classic Gospel music on a limited basis. What he wanted to do never occurred. From the group's onset their demand was overwhelming. Soon they were performing more than 100 dates a year. For the past several years The Williamsons have been in full time Christian ministry and entertainment and have traveled across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Their music has been in national charts and were they honored to be nominated to the Gospel Music Association for a Dove Award.
Their high energy musical style appeals to people of all ages. The versatility of The Williamsons is evident through the wide variety of musical styles they perform. There is always something for everyone. The marketing of their performances targets families and not just fans of any particular type of music. Spending an evening with The Williamsons is sure to be one that will lift you up, bless you, and entertain you all at the same time. Their primary desire is to share the Gospel in such a way that those in attendance who do not know Jesus Christ will come to know him before the program is over.

About Jim Sheldon
After serving many years as music minster, there was a void yet filled. In 1994, joined my first gospel quartet. Immediately, I knew singing gospel music was God's true calling for my life. He confirmed this with a paraphrase of Proverbs 3:6 - "In everything you do put God first, He will direct and crown your efforts with success."
My greatest inspiration came from Glenn Payne. The Cathedrals sang at my church in Virginia. He told me "Vocalize daily and never sing out of your range. Remember, God gave you the ability and desire. Honor Him with a servant's heart."
Now God says it's time to tell my story of how God has brought me out from a long 'wilderness time' of sin, shame and disgrace to where I am today.

The Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs to Open May 2013
The Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs will open for the 2013 season the first weekend in May.
In November it was announced that the Passion Play was closing forever. Randall Christy, President of The Gospel Station Network came to Eureka Springs on Dec 21 and met with members of the Passion Play Board and the bank that holds the note on the facilities and the 670+ acres owned by the Passion Play. The bank made it very clear that in order to stop foreclosure proceedings, $75,000 would have to be deposited with them by Dec 31st. Christy decided to take this challenge on, and in 10 days, with contributions from local businesses and hundreds of individuals from all over the U.S., the money was raised, and the foreclosure was stopped.
“We have crossed the first hurdle, but now we have a mountain to climb to raise the funds to get this worthy project off the ground, renovated, and improved,” Christy said. At a press conference held at the Passion Play Amphitheater on Thursday Jan 3rd, Christy announced several major changes and future plans. “Today we are launching a 6 million dollar capital improvement campaign to bring these facilities up to date, to put coverings in place to shade the amphitheater, to improve the display of the fabulous artwork and biblical antiquities, to repair and give the set a facelift, to put in an RV park, and many more things that need to be done including securing the financial future of the Passion Play.” Christy said.
One of the things that will be changing will be the ticketing packages, which will be more affordable for families, and for people who want to experience all the features of the Passion Play, like: The Bible Museum, where a person can see an authentic First Edition First Print of the King James Bible in mint condition and many other antique bibles of historical value; and the Sacred Art Museum, the Tabernacle replica of the Old Testament Tabernacle, The Holy Land Bible Tour, The Parable of the Potter, David the Shepherd. There will be ONE PRICE for the entire Passion Play Experience…which will be good for two days.
Many other positive changes will be noticed by visitors this year and even more next year.
People are still giving, and funds are still coming in from people who believe that the Passion Play is worth saving. As a part of this campaign, we have launched today a “Save a Seat” campaign where people can donate $250 or more and have a permanent engraved name plate mounted to a seat in this historic outdoor theater. Also today we have launched ticket sales for Opening Weekend May 2013 for less than half price. This opening price will be available to purchase only through the month of January, for Opening Weekend of the Passion Play.
“The Passion Play has brought millions of people to Eureka Springs over the years, and we want to see this happen again, and are excited about the future,” said Mike Bishop, Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce Director.
