The Minister's Quartet Update

Happy July everyone!!
We have turned another calendar page and we are now into the hot months of the year, to put it mildly. I see reports from the southwest USA that show over 110 degrees in many areas, and all I can say, is WOW!! Please pray for the folks out there going thru that. Also pray for the families of the firefighters lost in a blaze in Arizona over the past weekend.

The Minister's Quartet had a great weekend this past weekend. First, we travelled to Anthony's home church to help with their VBS event. Miss Marie and Anthony were two of the core group of leaders teaching over 50 kiddos about Paul and God this past week. They seemed very attentive and eager to learn. They especially were eager to say all their Bible memory verses, I think because the reward was oh, so yummy!!

We sang under a huge circus-type tent. The rain came, but didn't deter us or cause any major problems for us as we sang. We had a good time.

Sunday morning began for some of the group as early as 3am! We were to head down to southern Indiana, to Austin, where we had a date with the Austin Wesleyan Church's Homecoming celebration event. Pastor Adam Griffin, wife Greta, two daughters, and the congregation there treated us like family.

We sang 3 songs during the morning service and then were blessed by the preaching/teaching of Pastor Adam as he spoke about "Home". It stirred our hearts and minds and challenged us to remain faithful to God.

After singing, we were treated to lunch in the 'new' fellowship hall on the grounds of the church.

And then, once we had our fill, and a small catnap, we sang a full concert beginning at 1:30pm.

Little 3 year-old Sara has been anticipating our coming for quite some time, I was told. She has been memorizing out entire "At Their Best" cd while riding in the car. Mom and dad informed us that she knows just about every song on that cd by heart, especially "Go Jonah". So, of course, we had to sing it for her. We saw her looking at her parents and mouthing the words. We think she was a little awestruck that we were there in person to sing those songs to her. We think she liked it though.

July looks to be one of our busiest months on the calendar this year.

First up, we travel to Macklin Chapel on the grounds of Bearcreek Farms in Bryant, Indiana, where we will do an 8:30am worship service with the folks there.

Then, it's back on the road! We head to Sharps Chapel, Tennessee once again to complete work on our latest cd project. We will leave right after services at Macklin Chapel, and will be in the studio Monday, July 8th and Tuesday, July 9th to put our vocals to the music tracks we did in May. This will finish our part of the recording process. Then, it will be in the hands of our producer Shane Roark, and the graphics/packaging will be handled by Travis Roark. Once all of the 'finishing touches' are put on the project, we should have product around National Quartet Convention time in September. We can't wait!!

We have appearances scheduled throughout the month. Here's the breakdown:
July 7- Macklin Chapel 8:30am
July 8,9- Chapel Valley Studio, Sharps Chapel, TN 10am to ?
July 14- Linwood Christian Church, Alexandria, IN 10am
July 21- River Terrace Retirement Community, Bluffton, IN 2:30pm
July 22- Gas City Park, Gas City, IN 7pm
July 26,27- Indiana Gospel Music Festival (IGMF), Hamilton Co. Fairgrounds, Noblesville, IN 6pm and 5pm (saturday)
July 28- 1st Church of Christ, Bismarck, Illinois 6:30pm CDT

We'll talk August next time! Until then,
Keep looking up as you bow down to pray!
God bless you all!

The Minister's Quartet Update

The Minister's Quartet Email Update for w/e 2/23/13

It has been quite a while since I last updated you about TMQ, so there is alot to tell you!

First, let's update our personnel!!

Brad Scott, who filled in for Larry Lambert when Larry experienced throat nodules last summer in Oklahoma, tendered his resignation effective December 31st, 2012. We accepted Brad's resignation, but asked him to stay until a replacement at tenor was found. Brad DID join us in Waldron, Indiana on January 12, 2013, as we had not found our replacement at that time.

Well, the tenor position has been filled!! We are pleased to announce that 27 year old Anthony Clough (pronounced Cluff), from New Castle, Indiana, has accepted our offer to sing tenor effective immediately. Anthony auditioned about 2 weeks ago and made his debut with us this past Sunday in Mier, Indiana at the Mier Community Church. Anthony is a very talented singer, and his tenor range is second to none! We are excited for you to hear him!

So, the present lineup on stage for The Minister's Quartet will be: Anthony Clough, tenor, Ken Frost, lead, Jerry 'JT' Tinkle, baritone, and Ron Pence, bass. Larry Lambert continues on with us as equipment manager, product manager, and occasional tenor singer and will continue to travel with us to most of our dates.

Next, I would like to fill you in on some news from the world of southern gospel music. Our current radio release, "Because He Loves Me", wWritten by former member Danny Burr, now sits at number 7 on WDFB radio stations top 35 chart!! We thank God for the progress up the chart this song has made, and are extremely excited to see what God has done with this song!!

Which brings us to the next bit of news!
The Minister's Quartet would like to announce that a recording session with our record company, Chapel Valley Studio, has been set for May 22nd and 23rd in Sharps Chapel, Tennessee. On those two dates we will be laying the music trax for our next Chapel Valley release, tentatively set to coincide with the National Quartet Convention in September. We already know that two songs written by current member Ken Frost, will appear on that project, along with some songs we are currently learning to comprise the rest of the musical lineup on the new project.

And finally, I would like to tell you that while we have been a little dormant lately, we are dormant no longer!! As previously mentioned, thus far in 2013 we have had just 2 gigs. January 12th we sang at Waldron, Indiana's United Methodist Church. Pastor Bill Clark has been wonderful to us everytime we have ever been there. He has now accepted a pastorate in Renssalear, Indiana and has moved on from Waldron.

And this past Sunday we sang at Mier Community Church, just 2 miles up the road from JT's house!!
Next up, schedule-wise, is a trip to the Wisonsin area. We will be in Wintrop Harbor, Illinois (which is just 5 miles from the Wisconsin border) on March 30th for a 7pm sing, and then on Sunday morning (Easter Sunday) we will be in Racine, Wisconsin! This will be our very first appearance in Wisconsin, so all you Badgers come see us!!

With our new set lineup we all feel this may be the most talented group to ever take the stage as The Minister's Quartet. We want to get the message of God's love and plan of salvation to as many people as possible in 2013 and we need your help.

If you know any contact numbers, names, or places that would like to have TMQ in 2013, please pass that information along to us. We are talking fairs, festivals, churches, special events, birthday parties, etc. where you think that our brand of music might fit in. We need names of contacts, phone numbers, email addresses, etc that we can call or write to.

We would like to see our calendar completely filled, so would you help us?

Until next time,
Keep looking up as you bow down to pray!
God bless each and every one of you.

The Minister's Quartet Welcomes New Lead Singer

From The Minister's Quartet Email Update for 8/4/12

Greetings everyone!

Well, a new chapter in the ministry of The Minister's Quartet officially begins this weekend as Ken Frost becomes our lead singer on a permanent basis. Ken made his debut with us last weekend at the IGMF event in Noblesville, singing 3 songs with us that night. But now the real fun begins, as Ken will be with us each time we take the stage.

It all begins in Syracuse, Indiana this Friday night. We will be joining our hosts, His Way II, at Quaker Haven Camp. The singing starts at 7pm, preceded by a buffet style dinner at 6pm. The address for the camp is 111 EMS D16 Lane, Syracuse, IN 46567. If you need help finding that location, please call Margaret at 574-518-1144.

Saturday will find us travelling to Charlotte, Michigan!! So, all of my Michigan friends, come join us at Shady Green Pastures Bible Camp beginning at 1pm for an afternoon of great gospel music!! The address for Shady Green Pastures is 5841 W. Gresham Hwy, Charlotte, MI 48813. Jeff Shelburne is our host for this event and we look forward to a great afternoon!!

Sunday morning will find us in Monrovia, Indiana at the Monrovia Church of the Nazarene. The address of this church is: 260 North Chestnut Street, Monrovia, IN 46158. Service will begin at 10:30am.

Looking ahead a little bit, the group will be in New Paris, Ohio on Friday, August 10th at Go Ministries, INC. August 17th The Minister's Quartet will be at the State Fair in Indianapolis. We will be doing 3 appearances that day: 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. We will sing 30 minutes each time, and we will be on the Xfinity Main Street Stage, so come be a part of the crowd that day, and enjoy the fair!

I would like to close out this week's update by asking for prayer for Brad Scott's wife Cyndi. Cyndi will be undergoing bariatric surgery on Thursday, August 2nd. Many of you will not receive this update before the surgery, but please keep her in your prayers, and Brad, too, as they begin this life-changing journey together.

And, as always, keep TMQ in your prayers as we seek out God's favor for this ministry. Great things are happening already, and we just want to do His will in every way and in every situation we are presented with. Thank you, as always, for doing that.

Until next time then,
Keep looking up as you bow down to pray!
God bless you all!
