Popular Female Vocalist, Janet Paschal To Host 2nd Annual NQC Cancer Walk
Louisville, KY – The National Quartet Convention will once again team with popular singer, songwriter, author and radio host, Janet Paschal will host the 2nd Annual NQC Cancer Walk on Saturday morning, September 18 at 8:00am on the grounds of the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center. “Last year’s event was a tremendous success and we are excited to team with Janet Paschal once again to afford our attendees to give back to such a worthy cause as the American Cancer Society,” stated NQC Executive Vice President, Clarke Beasley. The National Quartet Convention kicks of Sunday, September 12 and will feature dozens of Southern Gospel Music’s most talented recording artists, as well as nationally noted speakers during afternoon showcase spectaculars and evening concerts throughout the seven-day event. The NQC Cancer Walk, hosted by Janet Paschal, is just one of the many attractions scheduled for the 40,000 fans who are expected to attend the event.
Paschal, a long-time favorite among Southern Gospel audiences nationwide, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. The North Carolina native took a year hiatus from her speaking and concert touring, while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Since resuming her travels, she has toured nationally and internationally, sharing her message of hope and triumph. In November, 2008, she released her latest literary work, Treasures of the Snow, which chonicles her battle with cancer and recently became a best seller. In 2009, Paschal began a weekly radio series, Walking The Good Road, to better promote cancer awareness. The series airs on JOY FM’s network of radio stations, covering seven states. This week, Paschal announced plans to launch a brand new daily 2-minute radio program, which will be available to radio stations throughout the United States and Canada beginning in October. The daily program features special interview segments with Christian music artists, medical professionals, pastors, authors and individuals from all walks of life who have been impacted by cancer. Paschal views the NQC Cancer Walk as yet another way to promote cancer awareness. “I’m so thrilled the NQC shares this vision,” Paschal stated, “and I’m honored to host this event, which I believe will have a tremendous impact on many individuals, just as it did last year. Last year’s event provided us the opportunity to donate over $2000.00 to the American Cancer Society, and we’re hoping for even greater success at this year’s event.”
The 2010 NQC Cancer Walk will begin at the main entrance of Freedom Hall at 8:00am. A $10.00 registration fee is required for Walk participants. The first 300 registrants will receive a free 2010 NQC Walk t-shirt. Participants may pre-register throughout NQC Week in the North Wing Lobby of the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center. On-site registration the morning of the event will begin at 7:00am at the entrance to Freedom Hall. The event is open to NQC attendees, as well as the general public. All proceeds from the 2010 NQC Cancer Walk will benefit the American Cancer Society.
