Jeffrey Lee Davis, 54, of New Bern, died July 29, 2013 at home.
He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and he sang with the Down East Boys. He was also the owner of Atlantic Restaurant and Food Service Equipment.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy S. Davis, his children, Brandon and Jessica Davis, his parents, Bobby and Ruby Davis, all of New Bern; two brothers, Jerry Davis of Fuquay Varina; Joe Davis and his sister, Jackie Davis, both of New Bern.
Jeff's wife, Cindy, stated, "We are just so blown away at the love that has been showered down on us over the last few days. Jeff fought a difficult battle with cancer for the last year in addition to the previous 9 years. He finally won his battle Monday morning at 12:51 am. Though we are sad to no longer have him here with us, we are rejoicing that he is now whole, in a new body that needs no walker or wheelchair, that can carry on conversations and remember everything that he struggled so hard to remember and say here and is now singing in that great gospel choir in heaven! Don't you know there's a shoutin time going on there!"
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Temple Baptist Church 1500 Kingdom Way, New Bern, NC 28562 or to New Bern Cancer Care 1010 Medical Park, New Bern, NC 28562.
