Portland, TN (September 25, 2013) The King's Heralds, the oldest active Gospel Quartet, has announced the addition of a new member. Hailing from Deland, FL, Jared Otto joins the group as their new Lead singer.
Jared is 25 years old and single. Prior to coming to the Heralds, Jared was an IT professional for the Health Department in the State of Florida. Jared replaces Joel Borg who came off the road to spend more time with his family.
The Herald’s Tenor Don Scroggs stated “We are proud to welcome Jared to our ministry team. He adds some youth and vitality to the group. The Kings Heralds is the first full time group that he has been with. He is very committed to the Lord and is excited about this opportunity to be in full time music ministry.”

King's Heralds Forging Into New Territory
Portland, TN (August 26, 2013) World renowned Gospel singers, the King's Heralds have performed somewhere they have never been in their ministry. For the very first time in their history of nearly 86 years of full time Gospel Music, the King’s Heralds sang in Alaska. During the last week of July, the quartet gave two concerts in Anchorage and Palmer to very excited and receptive audiences.
Bass singer Jeff Pearles said “The scenery was breathtaking and quite a change from our homes in Tennessee.”
After the concert in Palmer, the guys enjoyed seeing the rugged Alaskan landscape by air. For over an hour, they enjoyed spotting moose from the air and viewing some of the glaciers nearby.
“What a wonderful way to experience God’s handiwork, “stated first tenor Don Scroggs. “We are looking forward to returning next year.” Russell Hospedales, Baritone chimed in, “There was plenty of time during the night to enjoy Alaska as well, as the sun never fully went down until way past midnight.”
The King's Heralds sing from shore to shore and across the seas to many foreign nations. Traveling to Alaska was a special treat and an opportunity to develop many new fans.

King's Heralds Receive Unexpected Greeting In Philippines

Portland, TN (May 9, 2013) The oldest actively performing Gospel group in the nation, The King's Heralds returned to the Philippines for the first time in over 30 years. The group performed a concert for a special youth Congress in Mindanao.
Talented tenor, Don Scroggs stated “The Heralds always have had a special place in our hearts for missions and make as many trips to foreign countries as we can to help missionaries on their home front”.
Jeff Pearles, bass singer extraordinaire, chimed in, “Music seems to be a language that is universal and reaches in to the hearts of young people everywhere. We were so well received with a crowd of over 30,000 young people that our hearts were pounding as we took the stage”.
Some of those young people waited in their seats for over 12 hours prior to the concert to assure that they got a front row seat. The group performed many of the songs they have become noted for over the past 87 years of ministry; however, the audience was especially receptive to the newer Southern Gospel selections.
After the concert, about 5000 members of the audience wanted to meet the quartet and have pictures with them. The crowd was so excited about the King’s Heralds appearance, that security had a difficult time organizing the crowd so the pictures could be taken in an orderly fashion. After several announcements by security for the crowd to organize themselves, armed security guards had to escort the quartet out the backstage door to a vehicle waiting to transport them back to their hotel for their own safety. Pearles said, “It was the first time in all my years of singing that I was concerned for our personal safety."
Savvy arranger and baritone Russell Hospedales agreed, “When I felt the crowd begin to press in around us on all sides, I began to become a bit uncomfortable. I guess I'm not cut out to be a Rock Star.”
Consummate lead singer, Joel Borg says “Seeing the reaction of those young people was very humbling for us and while the degree of enthusiasm for the quartet was a bit unexpected, we felt bad for the people who wanted pictures that never got one.”
Scroggs said “Those young kids were excited to hear about Jesus. We are looking forward to a return trip next year."

King's Heralds Make It To Smithsonian

Portland, TN (April 16,2013) After 87 years of full time gospel ministry, The King's Heralds have finally made it into the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.
“It all happened quite unexpectedly", said Don Scroggs the groups first tenor for the past 30 years. Continuing Scroggs stated "We were in the middle of a tour when a gentleman called our office and said he was from The Smithsonian Institute. He went on to explain that they were putting together a new exhibit on how the body is wonderfully put together and that it would be narrated by talk show host Conan O'Brian.”
Russell Hospedales, Baritone for the group added “He said that he had run on to a clip of The King's Heralds singing a song that we have sung for years called “Dry Bones” on YouTube, and asked for permission for them to use our song in the exhibit. Of course, we thought about that for a couple seconds and then said yes, we would be honored."
At 87 years and still going, the King's Heralds are the oldest active Gospel group performing today. “I'm the newest member of the group, but I don't feel old enough to be put in the Smithsonian” chimed in Bass extraordinaire Jeff Pearles.
