Wilburn & Wilburn Participate In Benefit Gospel Concert For Tornado Victims
GADSDEN, AL (June 4, 2014) Father and son Gospel duo Jonathan and Jordan Wilburn spoke life into Mississippi’s tornado victims in a Gospel music concert on Saturday, May 31st. Several Gospel musicians came together and gave back to the community by offering their condolences through song.
Severe damage was witnessed in late April to parts of northeastern Mississippi. By way of extreme storms, tornadoes wreaked havoc and caused death and destruction. Heartbreak and grief blanketed the area like a dark cloud.
Gospel music is known for it’s ability to warm the souls of many. Through its touching lyrics and inspiring melodies, Gospel music can heal. Gospel musicians wanted to bring light to Tupelo, MS and surrounding areas by putting on a benefit concert as a memorial and fundraiser, reaching out to tornado victims and their families. Wilburn & Wilburn were one of the musicians highlighted at the concert.
“We wanted to bring light to the victims and families and all of those who were affected by the recent tragic events. Our hope was that people would come and listen to music and be blessed,” Jordan Wilburn said.
This isn’t the first time that Wilburn & Wilburn has brought aid to tornado victims through their talents. In 2011, when tornadoes devastated the state of Alabama, their home state, Wilburn & Wilburn used their gift of music to help bring healing and peace to a grief-stricken community.
“We saw the destruction that the tornadoes caused in Alabama, and because of that experience, we wanted to help in any way that we could to support Mississippi in their time of need,” Jonathan Wilburn said.
Although the concert was free and open to the public, donations were accepted and the money raised went to the CREATE Foundation for the Northeast Mississippi Tornado Relief Fund.

About Wilburn & Wilburn
Wilburn & Wilburn, the Father – Son team of Jonathan and Jordan Wilburn are continuing the tradition for three generations. Jonathan spent the first 16 years of his Southern Gospel Music career singing with his family, the Wilburns, one of Gospel Music’s most beloved and respected families. In 1996 Jonathan would move to Gadsden, Alabama where he would anchor the lead position with Gold City for the next 12 years.
Adding a dimension to this group is Jonathan's son Jordan. Feeling his call to sing Gospel music at a young age, it is a great match of Father and Son to create a great sound and an excitement that enhances any worship service.
