MEN OF MUSIC JOIN DSQC MINISTRY TEAM


David Talley, founder of Deep South Quartet Conventions (DSQC) is proud to release The New addition to the DSQC Ministry Team 2011. Men of Music from Jackson, MS have joined the DSQC Ministry Team.
The Men of Music is a Southern Gospel Male Trio with a progressive style that incorporates both old and new songs. They are delighting audiences across the country! The group, Men of Music consists of Greg Colburn, Baritone and Manager, Rodney Tyson, Lead Vocals & Tyler Hudson, Tenor Vocals. You will clap, shout and cry with them all in the same service. The Men of Music has just completed a live recording and more great news will be coming over the next few weeks. Look for them in the Gospel Music industry, ministry and news; I am sure you will find them. Men of Music will make their first appearance as part of the Ministry team in Cave City, AR at The DSQC N AR Concerts. They will be arriving to perform at the Calico Rock Prison on Thurs.

They will be joining The 2011 DSQC Ministry Team : The Crusader’s Ministries – Magnolia, AR, The Williamson’s – Weleetka, Ok., Diamond State Trio- Mulberry, AR, IN Him Trio- Springdale, MO and Southern Faith – Calico Rock, AR. DSQC Ministry Team will continue to travel across Arkansas Alabama, Oklahoma, and Missouri; soon to be in LA, MS, TX sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ through Music, Testimony, Prayer Groups and Wonderful Fellowship. DSQC is a Ministry week for the church and a church camp week-end retreat for the Southern Gospels groups participating. The Concerts are free and attendance is great at each of these events.
The DSQC Ministry Team’s Host Group, The Crusader’s Ministries arrives on Wed at the host church. Prayer groups, ladies luncheons, men’s prayer breakfast, services in the community and ministry time to the Local Church are all apart of Wed and Thursday. The DSQC Ministry Team and Invited Regional Guest are excited to bring TWO NIGHTS OF SOUTHERN GOSPEL CONCERTS to the Host Church on Fri. & Sat. DSQC remainder 2011 calendar year is:

DSQC- SPERRY, OK – Oct. 28th & 29th – First Baptist Church Sperry, OK
DSQC – MAGNOLIA, AR – 10TH YR CELEBRATION – REGIONAL – First United Pentecostal Church
Early this year DSQC was hosted in Muscleshoals, AL, Mountain Home, AR and Mena, AR. There have been five people saved at DSQC this year.

Men of Music Reach #1 on SouthernGospelTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart




JACKSON, Miss. – (January 17, 2011) – Southern Gospel favorites the Men of Music recently scored their first #1 hit. The group’s current fan favorite song, “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be” reached the #1 spot on the SouthernGospelTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart. The song spent two consecutive weeks at the top spot before dropping to #3 this week.

Greg Colburn of the Men of Music said, “We are so excited to see this song reach the #1 spot! Our fans and friends have all gotten behind this song, and we are so happy to see such a fantastic song about Heaven receive such a strong reaction from Southern Gospel listeners!”

The SouthernGospelTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart is the only chart in the Southern Gospel community that is determined solely by votes from fans of the genre. To vote on the popular chart – log on to http://www.southerngospeltimes.com .

Men of Music Welcome Tyler Hudson as New Tenor Vocalist


JACKSON, Miss. – (October 26, 2010) – Southern Gospel favorites the Men of Music are excited to announce the addition of Tyler Hudson to the group. Hudson fills the recently vacated tenor position.

“Tyler is a great addition to our group,” mentioned Men of Music baritone and manager Gregory Colburn. “He’s been singing with us for several weeks now, and he’s a perfect fit. We hope that everyone will make him welcome. He’s excited about meeting everyone!”

Tyler is a recent graduate of the University of North Alabama with a Major in History and Minors in Music, Religion/Philosophy and Business Administration.
Tyler is a very energetic young man with a love for God that you will see evident whether on stage, at the product table, or on the bus.

The Men of Music Team with Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors and Henry Medical Center for Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Concert


JACKSON, Miss. – (October 11, 2010) – In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Southern Gospel favorites the Men of Music will be participating in a benefit concert this weekend to promote Breast Cancer Awareness. The trio is teaming up with the Henry Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia and Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors of McDonough, Georgia for the annual event.

Greg Colburn of The Men of Music says, “Everyone should know that early detection saves lives! We are excited about being a part of a concert event where we can promote the idea of early detection!”

The event will take place on Saturday evening, October 16, 2010 beginning at 6:00 pm at the Cannon Cleveland Chapel located at 2580 Hwy 42 North in McDonough, Georgia.

Colburn continued, “We encourage everyone who can come out to make an effort and join us that night! This event means much to our group, and we know that there are many fans of Gospel music who have been impacted by Breast Cancer! Let’s show our support and make this a great event!”

Men of Music Renew Publicity and Web Publishing Agreement with SSE Group, Inc.


JACKSON, Miss. – (October 4, 2010) – Southern Gospel favorites the Men of Music have just renewed their contract with SSE Group, Inc. The trio has signed on for another year of exclusive publicity from Southern Spin Entertainment. The Men of Music will continue to have access to all media publications serviced by Southern Spin Entertainment, as well as marketing possibilities with the organization.

In addition, the Men of Music will receive a newly designed website and press kit as per the contract renewal.

Men of Music…by Chris Walton

The Men of Music are from Jackson, Mississippi and consist of members Chris Walton (Tenor) of Calera Alabama, Rodney Tyson (Lead) of Iuka Mississippi and Greg Colburn (Baritone) of Jackson Mississippi. The Men of Music started in 1996 and came off the road in 2007. Rodney had sung with The Men of Music in the early 2000’s and called Greg and Chris when he found out the group was looking for a lead. We did our first date in September of 2009 and have been going full time ever since. God is truly blessing this ministry. Our First Recording should be out this summer.

1. Please tell us the name of your latest recording and your favorite song from that CD. What is the message behind this song?

Our latest project is Have Faith. My favorite song is Jesus Touched Me. The song speaks for itself. The day I got saved Jesus touched me and I will never be the same.

2. What is one group highlight from the last 12 months?

Just this past weekend seeing a teenager saved at a Southern Gospel Service.

3. What artist are you listening to right now?

Brian Free & Assurance and The Waltons.

4. What was the best decade for music? Favorite artist from that decade?

80’s, Michael W. Smith and Gold City

5. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

To fly!

6. What would be your fantasy venue, the one stage in the world where you would like to sing?

I would love to sing the National Anthem at Miami Dolphins Stadium.

7. What is one habit you would like to break?

I’d like to break the habit of biting my nails.

8. Who is your most favorite Bible person/character?

My favorite Bible character is Job. I want to have his faith.

9. What is your favorite Bible verse?

John 3:17, the one a lot of people don’t read.

10. Name a song that once it gets stuck in your head you can’t get it out.

“Honey in the Rock my Brother” by the Lewis Family. I don’t know what it is about that song.

Men of Music Unveil Brand New, Fully-Updated Website



JACKSON, Miss. – Southern Gospel favorites the Men of Music are proud to announce the unveiling of their new, fully-updated website. The new page went live earlier and was designed by the staff of SSE Design Group, the web publishing and internet promotions division of SSE Group, Inc.

Gregory Colburn of the Men of Music said, “We are very pleased with the work that SSE has done for us on this website. It looks great and has a nice, clean look about it.”

“We have loved working with the Men of Music,” said Amy Marie Unthank of SSE Group, Inc. “It’s so exciting to see them have a nice presence on the web that matches their charisma and spirit.”

The site is an exhaustive telling of the ministry of the Men of Music. It features a biography, contact information, a photo gallery, schedules, and more. The group’s newly designed press kit will also be available for promoters and pastors to download directly from the site within the week.
