Jason Crabb To Host All-Star Celebration Featuring Former US Attorney General John Ashcroft, The Perrys, LeFevre Quartet, Nelons, Gerald Wolfe, Legacy Five, Karen Peck & New River and many more
NASHVILLE (March 18, 2014) — Southern Gospel Music will be front and center at the Trinity Broadcasting Network's famed Trinity Music City in Nashville March 25th as TBN and Grammy Award winning Christian music artist Jason Crabb host the Southern Gospel Music Guild's 2014 Harmony Honors.
The annual Harmony Honors recognize the best and brightest singers, songwriters, quartets, groups, and innovators in this unique American musical genre that has comforted, inspired, and entertained generations of fans.
This year the Harmony Honors will recognize two of Southern Gospel Music's most storied publishing resources: Pathway Press and Stamps-Baxter Music. Southern Gospel aficionados will recognize Pathway Press as publisher of the classic “Red Back”Church Hymnal, used by thousands of churches across the South for over sixty years. Generations of gospel groups have dipped into the depths of the old “Red Back” hymnal for classic quartet and convention songs by such legendary songwriters as Albert Brumley, Vep Ellis, Luther Presley, Lee Roy Abernathy, and many others.
As for Stamps-Baxter Music, its classic “shaped-note” song books — with titles like Super Specials, Crystal Rays, Silver Tones, and Pearls of Paradise — have been used and cherished by Southern Gospel artists for over 75 years.
“I'm excited to be a part of this evening honoring the musical heritage that is so closely tied to gospel music,” said Harmony Honors host Jason Crabb. “The songs in the 'Red Back' hymnal and the Stamps-Baxter songbooks are the foundation for this music that is so loved. This is a well-deserved honor for both publishers and it's going to be a great night!”
Among the musical guests for this year's Harmony Honors will be some of the most beloved and popular names in Southern Gospel Music, including the LeFevre Quartet, the Perrys, the Tribute Quartet, Legacy Five, Three Bridges, the Nelons, Gerald Wolfe from Greater Vision, Karen Peck and New River, Jeff & Sheri Easter, the Bowling Family, Gold City, the Mark Trammell Quartet, the Whisnants, Stan Whitmire and the Mylon Hayes Family.
Also scheduled for a special guest appearance is former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, himself an accomplished musician and long-time fan of Southern Gospel Music.
TBN Vice President Matthew Crouch noted that Southern Gospel Music has been a regular part of TBN's history over the past 40-plus years. “We've welcomed many Southern Gospel greats over the years,” he said. “The rich harmonies and inspirational message of this sacred music have been a blessing to generations of TBN viewers. We're privileged once again to host the Harmony Honors.”
Admission to the March 25th live TBN taping of the Harmony Honors at Nashville's Trinity Music City is free to the public, with 1,500 seats available. Doors open at 6 p.m. (Central Time) and the program begins at 7 p.m.

Gold City News
From Gold City's newsletter of January 28, 2013:
Hey ,
What an incredible week we just spent on the high seas! We were a part of the cruise to Cozumel, Grand Caymen and Jamaica sponsored by KWFC 89.1 FM out of Springfield, MO. Fellowship, fun, food, and plenty of great gospel music. One great highlight was the reunion of Jubilation/White River, a popular Christian Country band that last performed in the mid 1990's. When we say band, we mean BAND! Those men can pick as well as sing. A big thanks to KWFC for the invitation to be a part of such a wonderful week. After making our way back to land, we capped off this working vacation with an evening concert for the great people of Baker, Florida.
PRAYER REQUEST
Many of you have already heard about our friend, Tracy Stuffle of the Perrys, suffering a stroke last week. He remains in the hospital in ICU and continues to be in serious condition. We urge you to remain steadfast in prayer for this man, his wife Libbi, their son Jared, and the guys in their group. We work with the Perrys often, in fact just a couple of days prior to Tracy’s stroke we were together in Fitzgerald, GA. Tracy is a great man who has been faithful to God's call through thick and thin, and we are trusting that God is going to perform a miraculous healing so Tracy can once again stand on stage and sing the gospel! Please join us in daily prayer for Tracy and the Perrys.

DANNY’S FAVORITE QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"In spite of everything I shall rise again: I will take up my pencil, which I have forsaken in my great discouragement, and I will go on with my drawing." -Vincent Van Gogh
FINAL THOUGHTS
We can look around and see that our world is in a sad state of affairs. War, famine, natural disasters, sickness, conflicts among each other–it’s all a sign of the times. But God in his word gave us the answer. To paraphrase a familiar passage of scripture from the 2ndBook of Chronicles, if the people of God will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, God will hear and heal their land. Notice it doesn’t say a thing about sinners, evil ones, or those who hate God. It’s God saying, "If MY people." Christians, if WE will do what the Bible says, we have the power of God on our side to bring about radical changes for the better in this world. It is the prayer of Gold City that you will live the promises of 2 Chronicles 7:14 in your own life this week!

SOUTHERN GOSPEL MUSIC GUILD ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH NATIONAL QUARTET CONVENTION TO PRODUCE THE NQC MUSIC AWARDS
NASHVILLE, TN (February 16, 2012) – The Southern Gospel Music Guild has announced that they will be partnering with the National Quartet Convention to create a brand new awards presentation called the NQC Music Awards. These awards will be presented at the National Quartet Convention on Friday afternoon, September 14th during the Friday afternoon NQC Showcase Spectaculars in Freedom Hall.
“This awards presentation will be unique in several ways,” states Clarke Beasley, SGMG President and NQC Executive Vice President. “I believe we can expect a very large voting base to participate and much interest will be generated by the fact that awards will be given in both fan popularity and professional excellence divisions.”
There will be two divisions of awards that will be presented. The first division will be the Fan Awarded categories where awards will be determined by fan voting. To participate in the voting, all that is required is to sign up on the NQC e-mail list at www.nqconline.com. There is no purchase of anything required. The second division will be the Industry Awarded Categories, which will be determined by the music professionals that participate as exhibitors during the National Quartet Convention.
The Southern Gospel Music Guild will determine the category criteria as well as screen entries for eligibility. The SGMG professional membership will also determine the voting base for the industry categories and the recipient of the annual Les Beasley Award, given to a person or company that has made a significant impact in the field of Gospel Music.
To participate in the voting of the NQC Music Awards by signing up on the NQC e-mail list, just go to www.nqconline.com. A complete schedule of events set to take place during the 2012 National Quartet Convention may also be obtained there.
ABOUT SGMG
About the Southern Gospel Music Guild: In 1986, several Southern Gospel music leaders decided the industry needed an organization to foster the growth of the Southern Gospel music genre.
