“Smoky Mountain Resorts and the Smoky Mountain Convention Center are thrilled to host Creekside Gospel Music Convention for the 3rd time in 2014,” says Pete Smith. “Gospel Music is really growing in popularity and particularly in the Smoky Mountain Area. There is just something about being in the pristine mountains and hearing great gospel music that compliment each other. It is definitely a favorite for the guests and our staff as well.  We have to remind our staff that they are working during the event, because the music is so uplifting. Most importantly it allows our community the opportunity to thank God for the gift of the Smoky Mountains.”

Rob Patz, CEO of Coastal Media Group and publisher of SGNScoops, commented, “We are happy to be returning to the Smoky Mountain Convention Center with Creekside 2014. It is going to be a great time of music, fun and fellowship. I love this area because we are so close to the Smoky Mountains during the fall, when God strokes His paintbrush over the trees and shows us the beauty of nature in a special way. Combine that beauty with terrific Gospel music and you have an unbeatable combination.” Patz adds, “We are also very grateful to Pete and all of his staff for always treating us with such great hospitality. We so appreciate all they do to welcome us and make us feel special!”

The Creekside Gospel Music Convention will be presented on November 3rd through 6th at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Tickets for this event are free but must be reserved at http://www.creeksidegospelmusicconvention.com/ . Steeles Name Matthew Thompson As New Singer

THE STEELES are excited to be beginning a new chapter in life and ministry!  About a year and a half ago Sherry and Jeff Steele joined forces with long time friend Andrew Ishee and began performing a series of dates called Monumental Monday’s with THE STEELES.  Jeff states “I was The Senior Pastor at our church and Andrew was the Worship pastor at his church and we arrived at Monday as about the only date we COULD work.  None of the three of us ever had any intention, nor did we ever even talk about ever doing this full-time again.  The dates were a resounding success but even THAT never became a conversation about going back full-time.  We were having too much fun!
The Lord began to deal with Sherry and I about going back.  We asked Andrew what HE thought and after some prayerful consideration he decided that (with he and his wife Sheree having two small children) the time was just not right for him.  There are absolutely NO hard feelings.  We could not love Drew any more than we do…still talk every day and are so happy for the time we shared together.”  Andrew says…”I DO love Sherry and Jeff.  I have known them all my life.  We have had a blast!  I am thrilled to see them take this opportunity to minister full-time on the road again.  I just feel like (and I learned this from Dr. Steele) that my most important ministry (at this time in life ) is to be a godly father to my two little girls and a “present” husband to my wife Sheree.   I will still do some of my piano concerts as the schedule allows and I will pray for the ministry of THE STEELES!”
THE STEELES conducted a nationwide search for a new singer and landed on another life-long family friend Matthew Thompson.  Matthew has sung previously and most recently with The Men of Music!  His brother Landon was a member of the group Testify and is now serving a church in Houston, TX.  He heard about the opening and recommended that Matthew try out for the position.  Sherry says “we are excited about this step of faith and trust the Lord for our future as we walk through this new door.”  Keep up with THE STEELES singing and preaching ministry @ www.jeffrsteele.com and through Facebook and Twitter

The Steeles Return To The Road Full Time

Big news from the land of THE STEELES!! Per Jeff Steele…”On August 31st I painfully informed my church in Cullman, AL that as of September 14th I would be stepping down as Senior Pastor there. It has been a very rewarding nine years that we spent in that position and we have been blessed beyond measure with God’s richest blessings. We had the honor of leading 3 new building programs during our time here and saw hundreds join and many were saved. We meant to stay until we retired.
BUT GOD! When God says GO you’d better not sit still and God very clearly revealed to Sherry and myself that the time had come to start a new chapter in our ministry. At age 55 I am very well aware that this will be my “last lap” around the track. Now I pray that it will be a long, healthy, useful trip but it IS the last one for me. We have decided to return to the road. We want to minister to as many people as possible in the time we have left to do so. Please pray with us about this new season of our lives. Our desire is to help grow the Church of The Lord Jesus Christ. I will continue preaching in conferences and revival meetings. The Steeles will still sing. Many churches are planning giant Harvest Sunday’s with THE STEELES featuring preaching that morning and a concert that night!
If you are interested in having THE STEELES for a service in your church contact us today at 256-590-2068! There have been so many dates we have had to turn down because of our pastoral duties and we are now free to minister most anytime…most anywhere. Our heart is in the church and we look forward to ministering in your area soon.
I just wanted to get the official word out immediately so you could know where we are and what we are doing. Again…pray for us and we will see YOU…ON THE ROAD!”

The Freemans To Host Legends On the Sea (A Reunion Cruise) This Coming January

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (August 1, 2011) – Southern Gospel favorites The Freemans will be hosting a unique cruise featuring many classic names from Gospel music’s varied history.

Set to take place January 16-21, 2012, the “Legends On the Sea (A Reunion Cruise)” will feature such performers as The Classic Hinsons (featuring Ronny Hinson, Larry Hinson, Chris Freeman, and Bo Hinson), Rambo McGuire (remembering The Rambos with special guest Buck Rambo), The Steeles, The Shepherds, The Singing Cookes, and hosts The Freemans.

The special cruise will also feature a New Artist Showcase. Artists set to perform on that showcase include Heavens Highway, Chris Hester, The Bilderbacks, Deep Water Band, and The Williamsons.

Darrell Freeman of The Freemans said, “This is such a unique opportunity for all of these artists to get together. We are so excited about hosting such legendary names and voices in the industry on this cruise. If you’ve loved the music of these legends, then you won’t want to miss out on this cruise!”

The cruise will stop in Nassau, Bahamas and Key West and departs from Jacksonville, Florida. The price of the cruise includes cruise fare, food, all taxes, gratuities, receptions, and concert tickets.

For brochures, pricing and complete itinerary visit www.the-freemans.com/cruise.html .

The Freemans recently scored their latest #1 single with the lyric driven and poignant song “The Father & the Son.” Penned by celebrated songwriter Dianne Wilkinson, “The Father & the Son” spent four consecutive weeks at #1 on the AbsolutelyGospel.com (formerly SoGospelNews.com) Top 40 Weekly Chart – the Southern Gospel’s most watched and respected weekly radio report.

“The Father & the Son” is the debut single from The Freeman’s much-anticipated new recording – Evidence. Four years in the making, Evidence is truly The Freemans’ most transparent and emotional release to date. Evidence features songs that were chosen in response to four pivotal years for the group, which were mired with multiple family deaths and extremely personal losses for individual group members. Those events took the group on an emotional journey that resonates throughout the new recording.

Evidence is now available at concert events and on The Freemans’ website.
