Franklin, TN ( ) New Haven Records recently announced the debut of Southern Gospel legend Gold City’s new hymn project, Hymn Revival, their first hymn recording since 1999. The new project includes such inspirational classics as “In Christ Alone” and “The Power of the Cross” in addition to such traditional hymns as “Great is Thy Faithfulness” and “I Need Thee Every Hour.”
Hymn Revival, co-produced by Gold City’s Danny Riley and multiple Academy of Country Music award-winning artist and musician, Gordon Mote, combines both a musical freshness and lyrical timelessness that appeals to today’s broad gospel and inspirational fan-base.
News of the record’s release was dampened by the late-breaking health issues of Gold City’s co-founder and award-winning bass singer, Tim Riley, who was sidelined by a mild stroke he experienced in Lawrenceburg, TN in late July. Danny Riley comments, “Dad is in good hands and receiving great care. In fact, he is going home on Thursday, August 14 and we are hoping for a full recovery. In the meantime, these great hymns have brought us comfort and confidence—as they have for believers down through the centuries.”
Ken Harding, New Haven’s president, concurs, “Gold City is one of Southern Gospel’s most beloved groups and Tim Riley has been its foundation—both musically and otherwise—for more than three decades. We are honored to call them “family.” Our prayers and wishes go out to Tim, his family and the whole group as he continues to recover.”
Hymn Revival is available for pre-sale on iTunes now and releasesin Family Christian Stores, Lifeway Christian Stores, Amazon, iTunes, and wherever great gospel music is sold.
