UP Presents the UP Original Movie 'Heavenly Match,' Romantic Comedy -- Stars Samaire Armstrong ('Resurrection,' 'The O.C.')
Premieres Exclusively On UP, Sunday, October 12 at 7:00 P.M. EDT / 6:00 P.M. PDT
Based on Author Beth Pattillo's Acclaimed Novel "Heavens to Betsy"
ATLANTA, Sept. 29, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- UP presents the UP Original Movie Heavenly Match, a charming, uplifting romantic comedy about a 30-year-old minister named Casey Hart, who is faced with fork-in-the road decisions with both her career in the ministry and her love life. Starring actress Samaire Armstrong ("Resurrection," "The O.C."), Heavenly Match will make its world television premiere on UP on Sunday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. EDT / 6:00 p.m. PDT.
Filmed outside of Vancouver, Canada, Heavenly Match is produced by Front Street Pictures' Harvey Kahn (UP's Far From Home and the upcoming The Tree That Saved Christmas) and directed/executive produced by Michael M. Scott (UP's Far From Home and the award-nominated Apple Mortgage Cake) and executive produced by Libby Beers. The film is based on Beth Pattillo's acclaimed novel, Heavens to Betsy, which in turn sprang from Pattillo's experiences as a female minister. Cara J. Russell wrote the adapted script.
The ensemble cast also includes Brendan Penny ("Motive," "Whistler"), former Destiny's Child LeToya Luckett (Preacher's Kid, "Treme"), Gabrielle Rose ("R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour," The Sweet Hereafter), Bill Dow ("The X-Files," "Stargate: Atlantis"), Kevin O'Grady (This Means War, "Arrow"), Jody Thompson ("R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour," 2012) and Leanne Lapp ("Almost Human," "The Killing").
Life would be perfect for 30-year-old, single Reverend Casey Hart (Samaire Armstrong) if it weren't for parishioners who poke into her love life and steal money from the collection box. Not to mention some very inconvenient feelings she is having for her long-time friend, fellow seminary school classmate, and verbal sparring partner, David Swenson (Brenden Penny). Feeling the pressure of leading the congregation and managing the board's expectations, Casey questions if she should remain a minister in the church or pursue other career opportunities. Unsure of her direction, terrified of professional failure and panicked that David has met someone new, Casey turns to her other best friend from school, Reverend LaRonda "Ronnie" Mason (LeToya Luckett). Can Casey reclaim her confidence while reconciling her clerical robe with high heels and date nights? A fun-loving look at a single girl's life on the other side of the altar.
"Heavenly Match is a fun, relatable romantic comedy about finding your place in life as seen through the eyes of a little-explored character on television -- a female minister," Barbara Fisher, svp, original programming, UP. "Having gained new fans this year through "Resurrection," actress Samaire Armstrong is fearless here as the doubting Reverend Casey Hart."
Heavens to Betsy and Earth to Betsy author Beth Pattillo has written over a dozen books, including the Jane Austen Formidables trilogy, the Sweetgum Knit Lit Society series, and the Regency-set historicals Princess Charming and Her Perfect Earl. In addition, Pattillo is an ordained Christian minister and the co-founder of the Faith Leader program. After many years as a parish minister, she now serves as a spiritual director and retreat leader for Still Waters of Nashville. Originally from Texas, Pattillo is married and is the mother of two children. Her Master of Divinity degree is from Vanderbilt University. She believes a good sense of humor is the biggest blessing of all.

About The Bowlings
The group consists of Mike Bowling and his wife, Kelly, their daughter Hope and longtime friend Troy Peach. They bring you their stories and songs in a way that is reminiscent of days gone by. To watch them perform reminds us of a time when "all night singings" were the norm, and folks lined up early to visit with the singers and musicians. As in most things, musical styles come full circle. What is old is new, and what is new is old!! Musically, Mike, Kelly, Hope and Troy make us realize this. Somehow they have created a sound that is as refreshing as the sounds of the early 70s. Mike has often been referred to as the vocal stylist of the day; however, the completion is so obvious with Kelly, Hope and Troy by his side. History will note that they have been true to the excellence of their ability without diminishing or distancing the listener.

Faith Based Film 'The Genesis Code' to Debut in Nationwide Limited Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Oct. 27, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- The highly anticipated Christian film "The Genesis Code" will premiere November 4 in theatres in Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri.
A film from American Epic Entertainment, calls Christians to renew their faith in God, become more engaged in publicly defending the Biblical explanation of creation and speaking up against the cultural trend to silence Christians.
"This is very exciting time to be a Christian who loves movies!" said Executive Producer and Star of The Genesis Code, Reverend Jerry Zandstra. "We are especially buoyed by the success of Courageous. We know the Courageous audience is going to love The Genesis Code. There is clearly a real want and need for high quality faith based films like The Genesis Code and Courageous. We know that the faith audience expects production values that they are used to seeing from the big studio films and that is what they can expect from The Genesis Code." said Zandstra.
"The Genesis Code" is an independent Christian film which explores the intersection of science and faith as well as other issues facing Christians today. The film stars Logan Bartholomew and Kelsey Sanders as college students whose chance meeting leads to a burgeoning relationship and a journey of spiritual discovery. The supporting cast includes Oscar-winners Louise Fletcher and Ernest Borgnine, former presidential candidate Fred Thompson, and Reverend Jerry Zandstra, who also served as the Executive Producer.
"The Genesis Code" explores three major issues facing Christians today. One issue is the alleged conflict between religious and scientific explanations for the beginning of the universe. As the film shows, this conflict does not exist. The Biblical and scientific explanations for the beginning of life are totally consistent, but told from different perspectives. The film also explores the often ignored story of discrimination against Christians on college campuses. In the film, Kelsey Sanders portrays a talented paleontology student who is pressured to conceal her faith in order to advance in the academic world. Finally, the film deals with end-of-life issues, as Logan Bartholomew's character fights to prolong the life of his comatose mother when his grandparents attempt to remove her from life support against his wishes and despite the possibility of recovery.
Former U.S. Senator and movie star Fred Thompson will be lending his support to help publicize The Genesis Code in the days leading up to its release.
