Also Stars Brendan Penny ("Motive," "Whistler") and Former Destiny's Child Letoya Luckett (Preacher's Kid, "Treme") Co-Star
Premieres Exclusively On UP, Sunday, October 12 at 7:00 P.M. EDT / 6:00 P.M. PDT

Based on Author Beth Pattillo's Acclaimed Novel "Heavens to Betsy"

ATLANTA, Sept. 29, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- UP presents the UP Original Movie Heavenly Match, a charming, uplifting romantic comedy about a 30-year-old minister named Casey Hart, who is faced with fork-in-the road decisions with both her career in the ministry and her love life. Starring actress Samaire Armstrong ("Resurrection," "The O.C."), Heavenly Match will make its world television premiere on UP on Sunday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. EDT / 6:00 p.m. PDT.

Filmed outside of Vancouver, Canada, Heavenly Match is produced by Front Street Pictures' Harvey Kahn (UP's Far From Home and the upcoming The Tree That Saved Christmas) and directed/executive produced by Michael M. Scott (UP's Far From Home and the award-nominated Apple Mortgage Cake) and executive produced by Libby Beers. The film is based on Beth Pattillo's acclaimed novel, Heavens to Betsy, which in turn sprang from Pattillo's experiences as a female minister. Cara J. Russell wrote the adapted script.

The ensemble cast also includes Brendan Penny ("Motive," "Whistler"), former Destiny's Child LeToya Luckett (Preacher's Kid, "Treme"), Gabrielle Rose ("R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour," The Sweet Hereafter), Bill Dow ("The X-Files," "Stargate: Atlantis"), Kevin O'Grady (This Means War, "Arrow"), Jody Thompson ("R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour," 2012) and Leanne Lapp ("Almost Human," "The Killing").

Life would be perfect for 30-year-old, single Reverend Casey Hart (Samaire Armstrong) if it weren't for parishioners who poke into her love life and steal money from the collection box. Not to mention some very inconvenient feelings she is having for her long-time friend, fellow seminary school classmate, and verbal sparring partner, David Swenson (Brenden Penny). Feeling the pressure of leading the congregation and managing the board's expectations, Casey questions if she should remain a minister in the church or pursue other career opportunities. Unsure of her direction, terrified of professional failure and panicked that David has met someone new, Casey turns to her other best friend from school, Reverend LaRonda "Ronnie" Mason (LeToya Luckett). Can Casey reclaim her confidence while reconciling her clerical robe with high heels and date nights? A fun-loving look at a single girl's life on the other side of the altar.

"Heavenly Match is a fun, relatable romantic comedy about finding your place in life as seen through the eyes of a little-explored character on television -- a female minister," Barbara Fisher, svp, original programming, UP. "Having gained new fans this year through "Resurrection," actress Samaire Armstrong is fearless here as the doubting Reverend Casey Hart."

Heavens to Betsy and Earth to Betsy author Beth Pattillo has written over a dozen books, including the Jane Austen Formidables trilogy, the Sweetgum Knit Lit Society series, and the Regency-set historicals Princess Charming and Her Perfect Earl. In addition, Pattillo is an ordained Christian minister and the co-founder of the Faith Leader program. After many years as a parish minister, she now serves as a spiritual director and retreat leader for Still Waters of Nashville. Originally from Texas, Pattillo is married and is the mother of two children. Her Master of Divinity degree is from Vanderbilt University. She believes a good sense of humor is the biggest blessing of all.

UP presents Heavenly Match, a Front Street production. Starring Samaire Armstrong, Brendan Penny, LeToya Luckett, Gabrielle Rose, Bill Dow, Kevin O'Grady, Jody Thompson and Leanne Lapp. Directed by Michael M. Scott. Produced by Front Street Pictures' Harvey Kahn. Executive Produced by Michael M. Scott and Libby Beers. Director of Photography is Anthony Metchie. Editor is Alison Grace. Script by Cara J. Russell.

ALEX RUSSELL, ZACHARY KNIGHTON STAR IN RELIGIOUS PARODY: 'BELIEVE ME'

Nick Offerman and Christopher McDonald, and Grammy Award-Winning Rapper LeCrae, Join Cast of Rising Stars in Edgy Satire . . . In Theaters Sept. 26

BelieveMeFilm.com

AUSTIN, Texas — June 10, 2014 — This is not your father’s “Christian” film . . . or anyone’s for that matter.

Comedy, satire, heist . . . Riot Studios—creators of the surprise hit documentary BEWARE OF CHRISTIANS—debuts its first feature film, BELIEVE ME, in theaters and on demand on Sept. 26. Irreverent, funny and insightful, BELIEVE ME poses a simple question: “Why believe someone just because he’s speaking on a stage?”

“Four college friends see people believe any voice that shouts loud enough, and they use it for their own gain by starting a fake charity,” said Director Will Bakke. “BELIEVE ME looks at the power of platforms, particularly among today’s young Christians.”

Featuring rising stars Alex Russell—who shot to fame in CHRONICLE—and Zach Knighton (Happy Endings), BELIEVE ME also features Johanna Braddy (EASY A), Miles Fisher (FINAL DESTINATION 5), Sinqua Walls (Teen Wolf) and Max Adler (Glee), with Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) as Sean and Christopher McDonald (Boardwalk Empire) as Ken. Grammy Award-winning rapper LeCrae makes his feature debut in the film.

VIEW TRAILER HERE

In BELIEVE ME, Sam Atwell (Russell) stands on stage as thousands of fans go wild. Smart, charismatic, handsome, he moves them with his message, and when he calls for donations to his charity, the money pours in.

Only thing is, Sam doesn’t believe a word he’s saying.

Just months earlier, Sam was a typical college senior focused on keg stands, hookups and graduation. But when a surprise tuition bill threatens his dream of law school and leaves him thousands of dollars in the hole, he’s forced to think outside the box. He convinces his three roommates they can make a killing on the gullible church crowd and the guys start a sham charity, campaigning across the country, raising funds for a cause as fake as their message.

For Sam, embezzlement is easy compared to getting attention from the only person he cares about. When Callie, the tour manager and Sam’s love interest, finally discovers the guys’ ruse, it’s Sam's moment of truth.

On the final night of the tour, before a packed auditorium and alone in the spotlight, Sam Atwell has to decide what he really believes.

“BELIEVE ME is a parody on religious scandals,” co-producer and co-writer Michael B. Allen said. “It holds up a mirror for viewers to see themselves and their assumptions from a new perspective.”

BELIEVE ME is produced by Alex Carroll and co-produced by Sandhya Shardanand, Gary Cogill, Richard Toussaint and Steve Markham. John Rutland is director of photography with casting by J.C. Cantu.

A Riot Studios Production in association with Lascaux Films, BELIEVE ME is distributed by Headline Features and Gravitas Ventures. The film releases in theaters and on demand Sept. 26, 2014.

CLEAN COMEDY CLEANS UP AT THE BOX OFFICE

This Week's Second-Biggest, Per-Screen, New Release
MomsNightOutMovie.com

CULVER CITY, Calif. — May 13, 2014 — MOMS’ NIGHT OUT, the Sarah Drew/Sean Astin/Patricia Heaton/Trace Adkins team-up, was this week’s second-biggest, per-screen, new release at the box office. For Mother’s Day 2014—for maybe first time ever—the hot gift was . . . a movie ticket. Starting the Friday before Mother’s Day, families filled theaters for MOMS’ NIGHT OUT, a wholesome PG standout in a field of the summer’s 15 R-rated comedies, and crowds rose higher on word of mouth.

Exit polls echo the audience reactions: 82 percent of moviegoers (the average is 60 percent) say, yes, they’d definitely recommend MOMS’ NIGHT OUT. A million-plus people, meanwhile, are talking about it on Facebook. Among females aged 35-49, MOMS’ NIGHT OUT received an A- CinemaScore.

“Hollywood is overdue to make movies on a double bottom line,” co-writer and director Jon Erwin said. “While MOMS’ NIGHT OUT entertains entire families, it’s proving that content can build up families and come out financially profitable.”

Michael Medved, nationally syndicated radio host and movie reviewer echoes the enthusiasm. “MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is funny, frisky, fast-moving and filled with first-class performances,” he said. “It's also a surprisingly wise and moving film about the joys and nightmares of parenthood.”

Tara McNamara of Fandango.com called “MOMS’ NIGHT OUT “a movie unicorn—something we hope exists, and yet finding one is very, very rare. Most grown women become moms,” she wrote, “so how can it be that Moms' Night Out—a comedy about the lives of good moms—is one of a kind?”

Starring Sarah Drew (Grey’s Anatomy), Sean Astin (THE LORD OF THE RINGS), two-time Emmy® winner Patricia Heaton (The Middle, Everybody Loves Raymond), and country music superstar Trace Adkins (LINCOLN LAWYER), Rotten Tomatoes moviegoers gave MOMS’ NIGHT OUT 86 percent positive response.

MOMS' NIGHT OUT is directed by The Erwin Brothers, and produced by Kevin Downes in association with Four Boys Films and Pure Flix Entertainment. MOMS’ NIGHT OUT also features David Hunt (24), Andrea Logan White (REVELATION ROAD), Robert Amaya (COURAGEOUS), Abbie Cobb (NCIS: LA), Harry Shum, Jr. (Glee), Kevin Downes (COURAGEOUS) and Alex Kendrick (COURAGEOUS).

Written by Andrea Nasfell and Jon Erwin, MOMS’ NIGHT OUT was filmed in Birmingham, Ala., and is being distributed by TriStar Pictures, AFFIRM Films, and Provident Films. MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is rated PG for mild thematic elements and some action.

'LINSANITY THE MOVIE'--OCT. 4

JEREMY LIN'S FAITH-FUELED HOOP DREAMS IN THEATERS AND ON VOD
'Jeremy Lin conquered Harvard, the NBA and Sundance.' MTVe

See Official Trailer

LOS ANGELES – Sept. 16, 2013 – Basketball phenom Jeremy Lin’s history-making, record-breaking, breathtaking NBA ascendancy is just as remarkable for its backstory of setbacks and personal faith. And that’s what comes to life—in theaters and on VOD—with the Oct. 4 debut of LINSANITY, a film for anyone who ever rooted for the underdog.

From Director Evan Jackson Leong and narrated by Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-O, Lost), LINSANITY follows an undersized California kid—a child of Taiwanese immigrants—who loved hoops fiercely and refused to give up. It’s also the story of the faith and family that sustained and guided him through physical and societal obstacles, and past heartbreaking setbacks.

“If I learn a lot, if I grow a lot through tough times, that’s part of His perfect plan,” Lin says.

LINK TO OFFICIAL TRAILER

More to the Jeremy Lin Story Than You May Know

Lin was a benchwarmer about to be released by the 2012 New York Knicks—the third team to cut him in two months—when a chance to play propelled him into national headlines and sudden status as an NBA starter and team leader.

But it was just the latest Hollywood-worthy hurdle cleared by the first-ever Asian-American NBA star.

As a high school player in California Lin experienced racial ridicule but led his team to a state title, defeating an “unbeatable” opponent.
Big college programs showed no interest, so Lin attended Harvard with no scholarship, where the basketball coach built his program around Lin.
With no NBA draft, Lin became a free agent, twice signing and getting cut before the Knicks gave him a last chance.
Known for outworking anyone on the court, Jeremy despaired of ever seeing his true chance in the NBA. What kept him going? Faith in God, he says—and it’s a topic he far prefers over the “Linsanity” mania.

Showing the important roles of parents, brothers, pastor and friends, LINSANITY inspires viewers with a young man’s journey—and faith story—through the highs and lows of a life that stands ready to affect many more lives, worldwide, for great good.

A Grand Reunion Found In Remake Of “Tomboy and the Champ”

Katy, TX (June 17, 2013) Who says that a reunion has to take place at a park pavilion with a picnic lunch? This is a strange reunion of sorts as it's not all the family getting together to reminisce old stories, although I'm sure some really great stories will be shared. This is a reunion 52 years in the making. This is a reunion of then child star Jerry Naill and the Classic movie he played in, “Tomboy And The Champ”.

Jerry Naill found his true calling early in his life. He discovered music as a child and a star was born. He was cast in the 1961 classic movie "Tomboy And The Champ". Not only did Jerry have a singing part in the film, but he also had the opportunity to record six songs for the movie's soundtrack.
The original cast starred Ben Johnson, Rex Allen, and Candy Moore.

Beth Roose Films has taken on the task to remake this wonderful Christian Family Film. In the remake Eden Wood steps up to the plate as the Star, Tommy Jo Lane. Hollywood Western Star Ed Faulkner steps into the shoes of Ben Johnson and Nashville's Southern Gospel favorite Ian Owens steps in Jess Kirkpatrick's role as Parson Dan. You will love the ever funny Hee Haw and Country/Gospel Star LuLu Roman in the role of Grandma.

Beth Roose said “I can't resist bringing Jerry into the role of Mr. Stockton in the remake. While Katy native, Jerry may not be singing in the remake, his presence will be a wonderful addition to the cast.”

As in the original, the remake will showcase the county Future Farmers of America as well as the warmth of family, friends and community.

"Tomboy and the Champ" is a much needed film in today's negative, violent, and sexual oriented
films released in the market today. Principle photography will start July 23rd in Katy, Texas.

****
About Beth Roose Films
Creativity on film would pretty well describe Beth Roose Films.
Beth Roose has taken a unique approach to reaching out to kids and families today. With the help of some celebrity stars, and some Gospel singers Beth is reaching millions with a positive message by using characters like Elf Sparkle and Jimmy Paul The Pug Tooth Fairy.

'Not Today'--Entertainment Against Human Trafficking--Opens in 37 New Markets

'NOT TODAY'--ENTERTAINMENT AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING--OPENS IN 37 NEW MOVIE MARKETS
Film Shakes and Stirs Audiences; Many Communities Request Screens
NotTodaytheMovie.com
YORBA LINDA, Calif. – April 30, 2013 – Can a movie entertain audiences into activism? And will active communities put a movie in local theaters? Yes and yes, says NOT TODAY—a drama on the fight against human trafficking—now adding 37 new openings in markets across the country, beginning May 3. Most of those new theaters represent “market pull”—communities pre-purchasing hundreds of tickets to open the film in local theaters—and the list is growing.

“People see NOT TODAY and they talk—and talk spreads,” Producer Brent Martz said. “This second wave of theatrical openings is a testament to word of mouth. We’re humbled and pleased.”

Even movie reviewers are moved by NOT TODAY, the first church-made film on an international issue. The Washington Post’s Sean O’Connell writes: “If NOT TODAY makes even the slightest difference for a helpless child caught in this vicious cycle, then it earns the right to play on as many theater screens as possible.”

“I just watched the movie in Fort Worth, Texas, and must say, it was extremely well made and definitely got the message across,” a fan writes on NOT TODAY’s Facebook wall. “I've read stories and statistics on trafficking over the last year, but seeing the story lived out and the hope that something can be done puts a whole new perspective on things. I've signed petitions and raised awareness among friends, but I want to do so much more now. Thank you all for not being afraid to speak the truth even when people would rather turn a deaf ear and blind eye.”

Local fans bring NOT TODAY to their communities with a 400-ticket commitment. Information on how to schedule local screenings is at NotTodaytheMovie.com.

Produced by Friends Media, an arm of Friends Church of Yorba Linda, Calif., NOT TODAY features Cody Longo (Hollywood Heights, Fame, Make It or Break It), John Schneider (OCTOBER BABY, Smallville, The Dukes of Hazzard), Shari Rigby (OCTOBER BABY, The Bold and the Beautiful), Walid Amini (Veep, NCIS) and Cassie Scerbo (Make It or Break It, Hot in Cleveland).

SYNOPSIS: In NOT TODAY, Caden Welles (Longo) lives as large as any 20-year-old could dream. Then expectations of a never-ending party in India crash hard—but not as hard as his conscience when he refuses to help a starving man and his little girl. Attempting to right his wrong, Caden’s eyes are forced open to a world few Americans know exists: the thriving human-trafficking trade. Spurred by a true purpose, an unlikely friendship and the prayers of his mother and girlfriend, Caden leads an unlikely search for the girl.

NOT TODAY is a powerful reminder that change is possible if we’re willing to open our eyes . . . today.

Silverman (No Greater Love) GRACE UNPLUGGED is produced by Russ Rice, Larry Frenzel (Courageous), Chris Zarpas and Robert Norton, and executive produced by Mark Burg, Larry Mestel and Dan Heffner.

Over the next seven months Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions will be showing the film to a variety of Christian leaders and youth pastors as part of early outreach plans for the film. In addition, both Capitol Christian Music Group and Lifeway Christian Resources have teamed up to promote a film they feel will strongly appeal to Christian audiences throughout the world.

“We love GRACE UNPLUGGED, an entertaining story of a talented teenager rising in the music industry who gets a chance to achieve her dreams but realizes in the process the importance of family and her faith. While the story is specific to the world of music, the themes are universal to every family in this inspiring movie,” said Lionsgate President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions Jason Constantine.

“We are thrilled to be releasing GRACE UNPLUGGED, a terrific, emotional story of a contemporary father and daughter who must each reconcile their faith with their love of music and performing,” said Roadside Attractions’ Co-President Howard Cohen.

“GRACE UNPLUGGED is the perfect film to showcase the power of music in our culture and the positive impact it can have on lives,” said Bill Hearn, CEO of Capitol Christian Music Group. “We’re thrilled to be the music and soundtrack partner with Lionsgate which allows us to offer powerful songs to enhance this incredible story of reconciliation.”

GRACE UNPLUGGED stars Amanda "AJ" Michalka as 18-year-old Christian singer/songwriter Grace Rose Trey, who plays guitar and leads worship with her dad Johnny (James Denton). Her dad is a former rock star who has left his secular career behind and is now a worship leader at their small-town Alabama church. Grace is restless for her own shot at pop stardom, and seizes on an opportunity to go to L.A., against the wishes of her family. Cutting off contact with her parents, Grace seems prepared to walk away from her Christian faith and music to achieve her Hollywood dream. Will the experience cause her to reject her faith or rediscover it? GRACE UNPLUGGED is a modern day prodigal-daughter story and is Rated PG.

Easter Story: Prison Fellowship Screens Stirring Film 'Unconditional' for Inmates

EASTER HOPE FOR INMATES
'UNCONDITIONAL'--FILM SHOWING GOD'S LOVE LIGHTING DARK TIMES IN U.S. PRISONS
Inspired by True Story of 'Papa Joe' Bradford,Maximum Security Convict Now Helping At-Risk Kids;
Prison Fellowship Screens at Prisons Nationwide
UnconditionaltheMovie.com

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – March 21, 2013 – Prison Fellowship—the world’s largest outreach to prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families—partners with the film UNCONDITIONAL to bring the movie’s life-changing message of hope to thousands of inmates nationwide beginning Easter weekend.

Through a special arrangement with Provident Films, Prison Fellowship will screen UNCONDITIONAL March 30 at Orlando’s Central Florida Reception Center and March 31 at the Desoto Correctional Institution in Arcadia, Fla. The events also feature Prison Fellowship CEO Jim Liske and “Papa Joe” Bradford, a former maximum security inmate now working to improve the lives of Nashville’s at-risk kids, whose life is the inspiration behind the film.

“I know what it means to be the man in prison,” Papa Joe said. “And I’m so excited that my story in the film UNCONDITIONAL can be used to bring hope to these men and their families. There are more than 2 million children of incarcerated parents in the U.S., and they need our love and encouragement.”

A young African American with unlimited potential, Joseph Bradford landed in prison among violent offenders after putting his considerable computer skills to work hacking into a bank and robbing it of about $200 (which he paid back). Released, in kidney failure, on disability and living in Nashville’s notorious projects, Bradford and his wife’s hearts were touched by the many fatherless children around them. Simple acts of kindness brought one after another of these kids to their door. They formed a choir for the kids and soon he was their “Papa Joe,” providing the love and stability he never knew. Today, they continue this work through Elijah’s Heart Ministry, showing love to underprivileged children and their families, assisting them with practical needs and inspiring others to act by raising awareness of these often-desperate situations.

“To help ‘Papa Joe’ share his message of God’s life-changing, unconditional love is an honor,” Liske said. “And this Easter weekend screening is just the beginning, as Prison Fellowship programs have the potential to connect or reconnect inmates in 1,200 prisons across the country to God’s love and their purpose in life through this inspiring film.”

Provident Films has made 80 site licenses available to Prison Fellowship for UNCONDITIONAL screenings with future showings to be announced. Additionally, Prison Fellowship, the organization behind the annual Angel Tree program bringing donated Christmas gifts to children of the incarcerated, hopes to include UNCONDITIONAL DVDs as a gift option. Last year, inmates’ families received more than 400,000 gifts through Angel Tree donations.

UNCONDITIONAL is a natural vehicle for sharing a hopeful message with inmates. In the film, Samantha Crawford (Lynn Collins, JOHN CARTER) is living a storybook life: she’s happily married, she lives on a ranch where she keeps her beloved horse, and the stories she’s told and illustrated since childhood have become published books.

When her husband, Billy, is killed in a senseless act of violence, Sam loses her faith and her will to live. But a death-defying encounter with two children leads to a reunion with Joe (Michael Ealy, BARBERSHOP), her oldest friend.

As Sam watches “Papa Joe” care for and love the kids in his under-resourced neighborhood, she begins to realize that no matter life’s circumstances, God’s love is always reaching out to us.

Additionally, among the DVD’s 12 special features are several that touch the world of the incarcerated:

● The Heart of UNCONDITIONAL
● Becoming "Papa Joe"
● Prison Yard Fight!
● Why Bad Things Happen
● Prison

Harbinger Media Partners produced and Provident Films and Arc Entertainment distribute UNCONDITIONAL, featuring Collins and Ealy and Bruce McGill (LINCOLN, THE LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE), Kwesi Boakye (I CAN DO BAD ALL BY MYSELF), Diego Klattenhoff (THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, Homeland), Cedric Pendleton (RUNAWAY JURY, DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN), and introducing Gabriella Phillips as Keisha.

UNCONDITIONAL also partnered with scores of ministries and nonprofit organizations nationally like the one run by the real-life Papa Joe, encouraging people to ACT on needs in their communities. Details at UnconditionaltheMovie.com.

The “Christian CRASH”: Imagine a faith film with all the loose ends not tied up. CROSSROAD marks the advent of a different kind of Christian movie. A Christian ensemble drama where lives intersect around a tragedy like the Oscar-winning CRASH. It’s a clear presentation of the Gospel and an unapologetic weaving of spiritual mystery in everyday life. And at the same time, it’s a thriller. Shots fired. People hurt (and not always the ones you expect). First-time feature film director and the film’s writer Shervin Youssefian takes viewers on a zig-zagging journey through one man’s tragic loss, the quest for revenge and a realization that nothing is ever just as it seems. Talk to Shervin Youssefian about blazing a new trail in faith cinema.

A Fresh Face in Faith Films: CROSSROAD Executive Producer and featured actress Amy Weber is one of the new breed of women filmmakers in the faith genre. Talk to Amy Weber and find an active entertainment entrepreneur with her own production company, an actress with a growing string of credits, a wife, a mom and a dynamic example of women behind the camera in faith films.

Hot Topic—Revenge in News and Culture: Revenge is a hot topic. In Chicago, as the rising murder rate grabs headlines, many are tagged as gang-related revenge killings. Workplace violence is most commonly attributed to the perpetrator seeking revenge. Even in popular culture, it’s front and center with the popularity of the ABC TV series Revenge and Red Widow. CROSSROAD offers a faith-based take on revenge and how faith in Christ can break its power.

SYNOPSIS

As teenagers, skateboarding legends Brian Sumner and Christian Hosoi helped shape a culture. They reached amazing heights and broke countless records in pursuit of innovation and greatness. They were stars. They were heroes. As they will tell you themselves, they were fools — until they decided to lay their sins at the foot of the cross and never look back.

They traded in the destructive habits of boys to serve Christ as men, using their God-given talents to minister to America’s youth in a way very few can. Armed with hardcore biblical teachings, stirring testimony and authentic, street-level insight, Brian Sumner and Christian Hosoi speak in a language that can’t be faked — and work tirelessly to share a message that can’t be ignored. Foolishness, from SkateBible, is a daily devotional. It’s a witness tool. It’s an exciting, artfully made skate video featuring some of the biggest names in professional skateboarding — men now living as dedicated servants of the Lord.

THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY

A skateboarding prodigy from Liverpool, England, Brian moved to the U.S. and turned pro while still a teenager. A star in the fast-moving world of skating, Brian saw his marriage collapse, dealt with anger issues and ended up on probation. To fulfill a court-ordered community service obligation, he worked in a Christian thrift store. It was there he began to explore religion with the same intensity he brought to all aspects of life. Meeting other skaters who had embraced Christianity led Brian to The Sanctuary, a church with a skateboarding pastor, Jay Haizlip. After coming to faith, Brian remarried his wife (adding two more children to the one they had) and now uses his talent as a springboard for international ministry.

FOOLISHNESS takes viewers on a skateboarding thrill ride offering a vibrant new way to connect with God’s word as some of the world’s best skaters display their skills and declare eternal truths from the Bible. Produced by SkateBible and distributed by EchoLight Studios, FOOLISHNESS will be available in retail stores and online March 5.

RIDING ON EARLY PRAISE, ‘NOT TODAY’ HEADS FOR THEATERS APRIL 12

New Movie Entertains, Enlightens on the Plight of India’s ‘Untouchables;’ January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month

NotTodaytheMovie.com

YORBA LINDA, Calif. – Jan. 23, 2013 – On a wave of strong praise from advance screenings, NOT TODAY—the first church-made film around an international issue—hits theaters Friday, April 12. (See below for list of debut cities.) In NOT TODAY, a spoiled young American encounters trafficking of children among India’s “untouchables” and is forever changed.

“NOT TODAY is the first feature-length, faith-based film to tackle human trafficking, a global disease,” Producer Brent Martz said. “It’s entertainment, yes. But entertainment with world-changing purpose.”

NOT TODAY is produced by Friends Media, an arm of Friends Church of Yorba Linda, Calif., where Martz heads creative ministries. Rising star Cody Longo (Hollywood Heights, Fame, Make It or Break It) plays Caden, a spoiled, SoCal rich kid partying in India. On mean city streets, he’s oblivious to the so-called “untouchables” until a young girl sold into slavery draws him into the world of India’s outcast Dalits. Fighting to find her, Caden finds himself and his faith re-energized. Also featured in NOT TODAY: John Schneider (OCTOBER BABY, Smallville, The Dukes of Hazzard), Shari Rigby (OCTOBER BABY, The Bold and the Beautiful) and Cassie Scerbo (Make It or Break It, Hot in Cleveland).

Typical audience response to NOT TODAY, from the advance screening at the 2012 Urbana student missions conference in St. Louis:

“Gripping, informative movie that takes you into its world . . . makes you want to get involved to make a difference.”
"Everyone should see this film. You cannot walk away unchanged."
"Heartbreaking and eye-opening . . . I am inspired to make a change."
“Wow! Should have warned us to bring Kleenex."
NOT TODAY echoes in daily headlines:

Jan. 11 was International Human Trafficking Awareness Day
President Barack Obama recently declared January as Human Trafficking Prevention Month in the United States.
Louis Giglio, founder of the Passion movement, heavily focused the Passion 2013 conference on the battle against trafficking and the support of exploited people.
And stark statistics underscore growing concern around the globe:

An estimated 27 million people worldwide are in forced labor including sexual exploitation as a result of trafficking. SOURCE: U.N. Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking
Profits from all trafficked forced labor: estimated $31.6 billion/year. SOURCE: U.N. Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking
India’s Dalit population is among the world’s most vulnerable to the global industry in human abuse:

More than 1.2 million children in India are trapped in human trafficking as child prostitutes. SOURCE: National Underground Railroad Freedom Center India Conference
“For centuries Dalits, the ‘lowest of the low,’ have grown up believing they are less than animals,” said Matthew Cork, NOT TODAY executive producer and lead pastor of Friends Church. “Christianity tells them they are made in the image of God.”

Using education to lift Dalit lives and prospects, Friends Church has committed $20 million to build 200 of 1,000 proposed schools for Dalit children in the coming decade. Friends already has funded more than 40 of the current 107 schools. Profits from NOT TODAY go toward building schools and freeing children.

New Christian Movie Targets Senior Adults

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn., Jan. 15, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Flowers for Fannie," a new faith-based film resonates with seniors and encourages young adults to look at the elderly with a fresh perspective. "This is an amazing story about something that few movie producers address, our seniors," says Phyllis Schaddelee.

"Flowers for Fannie" is the story of Fannie (Patricia Binkley), an elderly widow who masks her loneliness with crankiness and Louise (Brittany Wilharm), an equally lonely young woman who befriends Fannie. "This is a unique story about how we treat one another and the importance of love no matter if you are a relative or not," says Dove Foundation.

"When I found out that this was the lead role, I went, really?" says Ms. Binkley, a 72-year-old retired schoolteacher. But filmmakers Fred and Sharon Wilharm knew that she could relate to Fannie.

"In my life I can relate to death of a loved one or being abandoned or whatever, so I can cry when I think of certain things," says Ms. Binkley.

Other senior cast members include seasoned film actors Roger Eldridge, Jean Reinke, and Lynda Evjen, newcomer Ralph Hollingsworth, and a cameo appearance by the Knifty Knitters.

"Most movies are written for a young male audience, but we feel that older adults deserve a movie they can relate to," says Ms. Wilharm. "And young viewers appreciate it as much as their elders. The humor, music, romantic storylines, and relatable characters appeal to young and old alike and give them a better appreciation of each other."

"It's a humorous film that compels you to look at your life and your future," says CFDb.

"Flowers for Fannie" releases to DVD on February 1, but online viewers can watch a free sneak peek on Saturday, January 26 at 7:00pm CST. The entire movie will be available for online viewing for three hours.

"Our desire is that churches will use 'Flowers for Fannie' as a way to bridge the gap between youth and senior adults," says Ms. Wilharm. "If churches have a dinner and movie night with the youth serving the seniors, it puts into practice the message of the movie. I'd love to see them follow up with an Adopt a Grandparent program."

For more information about the movie or to schedule a screening at your church or senior center visit the website.
