CLEAN COMEDY CLEANS UP AT THE BOX OFFICE

This Week's Second-Biggest, Per-Screen, New Release
MomsNightOutMovie.com

CULVER CITY, Calif. — May 13, 2014 — MOMS’ NIGHT OUT, the Sarah Drew/Sean Astin/Patricia Heaton/Trace Adkins team-up, was this week’s second-biggest, per-screen, new release at the box office. For Mother’s Day 2014—for maybe first time ever—the hot gift was . . . a movie ticket. Starting the Friday before Mother’s Day, families filled theaters for MOMS’ NIGHT OUT, a wholesome PG standout in a field of the summer’s 15 R-rated comedies, and crowds rose higher on word of mouth.

Exit polls echo the audience reactions: 82 percent of moviegoers (the average is 60 percent) say, yes, they’d definitely recommend MOMS’ NIGHT OUT. A million-plus people, meanwhile, are talking about it on Facebook. Among females aged 35-49, MOMS’ NIGHT OUT received an A- CinemaScore.

“Hollywood is overdue to make movies on a double bottom line,” co-writer and director Jon Erwin said. “While MOMS’ NIGHT OUT entertains entire families, it’s proving that content can build up families and come out financially profitable.”

Michael Medved, nationally syndicated radio host and movie reviewer echoes the enthusiasm. “MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is funny, frisky, fast-moving and filled with first-class performances,” he said. “It's also a surprisingly wise and moving film about the joys and nightmares of parenthood.”

Tara McNamara of Fandango.com called “MOMS’ NIGHT OUT “a movie unicorn—something we hope exists, and yet finding one is very, very rare. Most grown women become moms,” she wrote, “so how can it be that Moms' Night Out—a comedy about the lives of good moms—is one of a kind?”

Starring Sarah Drew (Grey’s Anatomy), Sean Astin (THE LORD OF THE RINGS), two-time Emmy® winner Patricia Heaton (The Middle, Everybody Loves Raymond), and country music superstar Trace Adkins (LINCOLN LAWYER), Rotten Tomatoes moviegoers gave MOMS’ NIGHT OUT 86 percent positive response.

MOMS' NIGHT OUT is directed by The Erwin Brothers, and produced by Kevin Downes in association with Four Boys Films and Pure Flix Entertainment. MOMS’ NIGHT OUT also features David Hunt (24), Andrea Logan White (REVELATION ROAD), Robert Amaya (COURAGEOUS), Abbie Cobb (NCIS: LA), Harry Shum, Jr. (Glee), Kevin Downes (COURAGEOUS) and Alex Kendrick (COURAGEOUS).

Written by Andrea Nasfell and Jon Erwin, MOMS’ NIGHT OUT was filmed in Birmingham, Ala., and is being distributed by TriStar Pictures, AFFIRM Films, and Provident Films. MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is rated PG for mild thematic elements and some action.

Culver City, CA – Jan. 28, 2014 – With a laugh-packed mix of big-screen, small-screen and music stars, Patricia Heaton and her husband, David Hunt have executive-produced MOMS’ NIGHT OUT, a new kind of family comedy in theaters May 9, 2014–just in time for Mother’s Day.

From TriStar Pictures, distributors of SOUL SURFER and COURAGEOUS, MOMS’ NIGHT OUT has early audiences raving about its laugh-out-loud portrayal of the chaos of parenting. With its PG rating this clean comedy will be a hit with families everywhere.

Heaton is one of America’s top female comedic actresses and the well-known star of Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle, two of the most popular television comedies of all time. She joins Sarah Drew, (Grey’s Anatomy), Sean Astin (LORD OF THE RINGS and RUDY), and platinum-selling country recording artist Trace Adkins (THE LINCOLN LAWYER) in a story both hilarious and endearing for its spot-on view on parenting and real-life family relationships.

In the story, Allyson (Sarah Drew) and her friends long for a peaceful, grown-up evening of dinner and talk–a long-overdue “moms’ night out.” But to indulge in high heels, adult conversation, and not having to cut anyone else’s meat, their husbands will need to watch the kids for a few hours. What could go wrong?

"Every mom and dad in America–whether they have toddlers, tweens or teens–is going to love this movie,” Heaton said. “It's a hilarious family-friendly celebration of the trials and triumphs of parenting–a joyous affirmation of the world's hardest but most important job."

Drew loves the layered storylines–a family comedy several times over. “And then it’s a full-on love story about two people who already know each other,” she said. “Every mom knows that juggling act. And every audience that sees it says, “That’s my life!”

Co-writer/director Jon Erwin says the best humor begins at home. “My brother, Andy, and I love being dads, and everything in this movie happened to us . . . just last week!”

Award-Winning Musician and Singer Gordon Mote Releases Album All Things New on New Haven Records

Nashville, TN (September 19, 2013) —- One of the most beloved and respected musicians/singers in the music industry, Gordon Mote, has released his latest project All Things New. The album was co-produced by Frank Rogers (Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker), and Dove-Award winning producers, Wayne Haun and Russell Mauldin. The project features vocal collaborations with such major artists as the Gaither Vocal Band, Trace Adkins, Darius Rucker, Josh Turner, Matthew West, and Scotty McCreery. This is the second album by Mote for his new label, New Haven Records, and the project will be distributed to the faith-based market through Provident-Integrity Distribution.
“I wanted this project to encourage others to let the Lord use the rough parts of their lives for His glory just like He has in mine,” says Mote. “Being born blind, God has given me so many blessings in spite of the setbacks I have had in my life. If we’ll give God the chance to make all things new, He will.”
The powerful ballad, “Faith Like That,” is the first single being serviced to Christian radio, and the heartfelt lyrics were co-written by award-winning songwriters Don Sampson (“Waitin’ On A Woman”) and Jim Brown (“Five O’Clock Somewhere”). A noted songwriter himself, Mote co-wrote four songs on the new album including, “All Things New,” “Sound A Dream Makes,” “For You,” and the autobiographical “Broken Open.” The latter song describes Mote’s personal journey of clinging to his faith to overcome a broken heart and how God can lift us up even during our darkest hours.
“I had a wonderful childhood, but grew somewhat lonely as a teenager as my friends were getting driver’s licenses and leaving me behind,” explains Mote. “Whether you’re blind or not, all of us experience insecurities. I learned that my brokenness made me more open to God’s love as well as more sensitive to the brokenness in other’s lives.”
In spite of what society calls a handicap, Mote has miraculously overcome multiple obstacles with his blindness that include; playing piano at 3-years-old without any professional training, being the first blind student in the country to be accepted into the public school system, graduating high school with honors, receiving a full scholarship to Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL, and graduating from Belmont University in Nashville, TN with Cum Laude honors and a music degree.
Two days after graduation, Mote began touring with Country artist Lee Greenwood’s band, which led to the talented musician touring and recording with such major superstars as Trisha Yearwood, Brad Paisley, Bob Seger, Alan Jackson, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Gaither Vocal Band, and Lionel Richie.
Mote’s keyboard skills led him to being honored twice by the Academy of Country Music for Piano/Keyboard Player of the Year Awards, as well as two Music Row Magazine Instrumentalist of the Year Awards for playing on the most Top Ten albums. Mote has released nine albums as an independent artist, with If You Could Hear What I See earning Mote his first Dove nomination in 2004. Mote remains an active touring act by performing over 150 dates a year.

The Erwin Brothers Wrap Filming on New Family Comedy 'Moms' Night Out'

Kevin Downes Production Features Sarah Drew, Sean Astin,Patricia Heaton, Alex Kendrick and Trace Adkins
IT COULDN’T GET WORSE . . . COULD IT?
In MOMS’ NIGHT OUT—a fast-paced, family comedy—four moms and a beleaguered cabbie discover in love, marriage and parenting, it can all go wrong . . . and still turn out right. (From right: Sarah Drew, Abbie Cobb, Patricia Heaton, Andrea Logan White and David Hunt)

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – June 24, 2013 – Principal photography has wrapped on MOMS’ NIGHT OUT, the hilarious family comedy produced by Kevin Downes to be distributed by AFFIRM Films and Provident Films. A film that celebrates real family life—where everything can go wrong and still turn out all right.

“We wanted to make a film that the whole family could enjoy,” said Downes, who also acts in the movie.

In the film, all Allyson and her friends want is a peaceful, grown-up evening of dinner and conversation . . . a long-needed moms’ night out. But in order to enjoy high heels, adult conversation and food not served in a bag, they need their husbands to watch the kids for a few hours—what could go wrong? MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is an endearing, true-to-life family comedy.

“I feel like everything in the script happened at my home last week,” said Jon Erwin, who co-wrote MOMS’ NIGHT OUT with Andrea Nasfell and co-directed with his brother Andrew. The Erwin Brothers have four toddlers between them. “It’s a light-hearted look at the joys and challenges moms and dads face today, giving all the time kids need while still finding time for each other.”

Coming to theaters in 2014, MOMS’ NIGHT OUT chronicles one night out gone awry, as three harried moms, their husbands, a sister-in-law with a misplaced baby, a tattoo parlor owner, a motorcycle gang and one bewildered cabbie learn to embrace the beautiful mess called parenting.

“We grew up watching great family comedies,” said Andrew Erwin. “We felt it was time to bring the genre of clean family comedy back to the big screen, and we brought a powerful comedic cast with us to do it.”

MOMS’ NIGHT OUT also loops in a little wholesome passion between a wife and her husband, played by Grey’s Anatomy’s Sarah Drew as Allyson and Sean Astin as Sean.

"I love that the film is not just a comedy but also a love story between Allyson and Sean,” Drew said.

MOMS’ NIGHT OUT spotlights the unfulfilled expectations and serial self-doubts many moms feel . . . then reassures us that the key is raising kids in a loving home.

“I’m excited to be a part of the group of women in a comedy that is reality for families everywhere,” said Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle star, two-time Emmy winner and mom of four Patricia Heaton from the MNO set. “I’ve had so many people come up to me over the years and say, ‘Your show got us through a very difficult time in our family and raised our spirits.’ I think sometimes in a family the only way to diffuse a tense situation is to make a joke or mock yourself or the situation. At some point you just have to laugh about it. That’s what we hope will happen with MOMS’ NIGHT OUT.”

Heaton is an executive producer on the film along with her husband, David Hunt, who joins her onscreen as well, playing a local cabbie caught up in the fun.

“Any dad will tell you that love and laughter often lift families over the everyday challenges of life,” Hunt said. “And with MOMS’ NIGHT OUT the entire family—moms, dads and kids—will laugh together.”

MOMS’ NIGHT OUT features Sarah Drew (Grey’s Anatomy), Sean Astin (THE LORD OF THE RINGS), Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond, The Middle), Alex Kendrick (COURAGEOUS), Robert Amaya (COURAGEOUS), Andrea Logan White (REVELATION ROAD) and Kevin Downes (COURAGEOUS). Platinum-selling country recording artist Trace Adkins (THE LINCOLN LAWYER) is “Bones,” a philosophical tattoo artist with a checkered past and a load of wisdom. (For an expanded cast list, see MOMS’ NIGHT OUT Media Fact Sheet.)

This anticipated second feature film from Andrew and Jon Erwin follows on the buzz created by their 2012 hit OCTOBER BABY that surprised the film industry with a No. 8 box office debut against big-budget competition and drew page 1-A coverage in The New York Times.
