Faith-Based Film Starring Scott Eastwood, Coming to a Theatre Near You

"The Perfect Wave" Launches Screening Events Across the Country

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 5, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Producers of "The Perfect Wave," starring Scott Eastwood ("Gran Torino," "Flags of Our Fathers"), Rachel Hendrix ("October Baby") and Cheryl Ladd ("Charlie's Angels"), which opened in select markets on July 11, are working towards a goal of adding another 200 screenings by September, utilizing Tugg as a grassroots vehicle.

Tugg is a unique system that allows the public to request a movie screening at virtually any location they partner with in the U.S. Once the screening is requested, approved and tickets are sold, the screening is locked in for that location.

"We have had such an enormous response from those in the Christian community that were unable to see the film when it first opened a few weeks ago," said Director Bruce Macdonald. "My phone has been ringing off the hook from pastors and ministry leaders from all over the United States asking, 'When is "The Perfect Wave" coming to my city?' We are so excited to partner with Tugg to have a chance to share this film with them."

"The Perfect Wave," shares the story New Zealand native Ian McCormack (played by Eastwood), who sets out on a journey with his best friend to surf some of the most famous and challenging destinations throughout Australia, Southeast Asia and Africa in search of the mythical "perfect wave."

During his adventure, Ian falls in love with a beautiful, free-spirited girl, Annabel (portrayed by Hendrix). Ian's pursuit of her leads him to the African island of Mauritius, where his life is forever changed after his encounter with several box jellyfish during a fateful evening swim. Infamous for venom so deadly that a single sting can kill a man, Ian is stung multiple times, and pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital.

Following a divine post-mortem experience, Ian miraculously awakens with a transformed understanding of life and a chance to begin anew.

"The testimony of Ian McCormack is powerful and inspiring," said Ellery Sadler of  InsideOut Magazine. "The obvious evidence of Christ's work in his life and through him blows me away. The undertone of Christianity and the message of His goodness is tastefully but clearly seen throughout the film. I highly recommend 'The Perfect Wave' to anyone looking for answers, looking to be re-inspired, or just looking for a fabulous movie for a Saturday night."

Christianity Today Announces 'The Behemoth,' a Magazine that Marvels at God's Creation

CAROL STREAM, Ill., July 31, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christianity Today, the media ministry founded by Billy Graham in 1956, announced today its most daring publication to date in The Behemoth. This ad-free, biweekly publication aims to help people behold the glory of God all around them, in the worlds of science, history, theology, medicine, sociology, Bible, and personal narrative. The digital magazine is available on the iPad through an app in the iTunes store or on any device through the responsive website at BehemothMag.com.

The Behemoth gets its provocative name from the biblical beast God uses in the book of Job that forces Job to stop asking questions but simply marvel at God's creation. Managing Editor Ted Olsen says, "We want to look at God's creation, God's history, God's people, and the glorious study of God," he says. "In these and future articles, more than anything else, we want to behold. Not exhort, scold, theorize, pontificate, but simply marvel."

And The Behemoth does so in many ways--the first issue contains articles on the physics of baseball, the martyrdom of English Reformation leader Thomas Cranmer, and musings from Swiss theologian Karl Barth. Ted concludes, "Wonder has a way of leading to both humility and praise. And if The Behemoth does that for our readers, we've accomplished our purpose."

Like the elements of God's creation it describes, The Behemoth is a unique project for Christianity Today. Designer Jennifer McGuire says "The Behemoth is unique in its responsive website and app, so it will work on any size device really well." In terms of the actual design, McGuire says, "This was a fun site to design. With the concept of this digital magazine, imagery is huge (no pun intended), so we wanted to make sure that every article had a powerful, evocative photograph that would draw you in. And we chose beautiful, contemporary fonts that are designed for comfortable reading on screen, that give it a simple, clean look."

The first issue is free to all readers, and is available on the iPad and at BehemothMag.com.

Christianity Today is a nonprofit, global media ministry that equips Christians to renew their minds, serve the church, and create culture to the glory of God. With its vision to see the church grown up into the fullness of Christ, the ministry reaches more than 3.5 million people every month through a wide range of digital and print resources.

Southern Gospel Music promoter Robert York of Georgia is taking a new direction for one of his upcoming shows

POST CARD - SEPTEMBER 13 - 1000
September 13th
Southern Gospel Music promoter Robert York of Georgia is taking a new direction for one of his upcoming shows.
Included among the top promoters in the U.S., York has hosted the top talent in the industry for his North Metro Atlanta Gospel Singings.
“We have decided to add to our concert lineup an evening of acoustic and bluegrass gospel,” York said. “Many people in our area have requested we do some of this type of show.”
York decided to include artists that enjoy success in several genres – Randall Franks, the Watkins Family and Les Butler.
The music ministries will appear on Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. in the 600-seat Shiloh Hills Baptist Church auditorium at 75 Hawkins Store Road in Kennesaw, Ga.
Franks, a TV/Film star, columnist, musician, and entertainer is well known for his role as “Officer Randy Goode” from TV’s “In the Heat of the Night.”
“Randall is a Top-20 selling Christian artist who has acted in several recent films and appeared for the Grand Ole Opry several times,” York said. “He is recognized by the International Bluegrass Music Museum as a Legend for his contributions to bluegrass.”
Adding to the entertainment of the evening will be emcee and musician Les Butler.
“Les is your weekend afternoon host on Solid Gospel radio across the country as well as the host of the popular weekend programs – ‘Front Porch Fellowship’ (bluegrass gospel) and ‘The Old Country Church’ (country gospel),” York said. “He is also host of popular TV show Harmony Road.  It’s not unusual to find him on stage at any given concert adding his talents from mandolin, piano, guitar, and Dobro to playing the bass. His show won the annual Achievement In Radio Award in 1999.”
One of America’s best loved acoustic music families – the Watkins Family have served as gospel music ambassadors from the state of Georgia to the world for more than three decades,
“Many family groups have made a name for themselves in the fields of gospel, bluegrass and country music but few can claim performance success in all three genres while never veering from their sincere dedication that their music should always reflect the love of Jesus,” York said.
York said whether the Watkins are performing on a grand stage with country stars such as Randy Travis and Diamond Rio, bluegrass festival or National Quartet Convention in front of thousands, or in the pulpit of a small country church, 2008 Impact Award nominee the Watkins Family raise spirits and hopes of the life to be led as servants of Christ through their harmonies.
“While the musical legacy of the Watkins family reaches back for generations in the mountains of northeast Georgia, their music today reflects the best in harmonies and musical instrumentation that can be heard,” York said.
According to York, if response for the concert is positive, then he will be looking seriously at adding more events that share the music of the mountains with Southern gospel audiences of Atlanta.
Tickets for the event are $20 at the door or $15 in advance by mail to Robert York, 4030 Ebenezer Drive, Marietta, Ga. 30066.

For employees in Christian organizations, working in a flourishing culture energizes their calling and passion for service to others.  Employees in Christian organizations are also encouraged to see continuous improvement in engagement levels among their coworkers.  Engagement levels improved to 53.7% vs. 51% a year ago, and 47% two years ago according to Al Lopus, President of Best Christian Workplaces.  As a result, the gap between the engagement levels of Christian and secular workplaces continues to grow.

There is a lot of buzz about workplace culture in Christian organizations.  Last August at the Global Leadership Summit, Bill Hybels boldly shared the transformational journey Willow Creek Community Church had been on during the previous five years and the impact it has had on their church.  After moving from a nearly toxic culture to a flourishing culture, Hybels says the payoff is, "You will simply not believe how much better a healthy culture performs.  Get ready for outcomes you never thought were possible by your organization."  To develop a flourishing culture, leaders at these organizations focus on activities such as defining values, hiring for cultural fit, holding more frequent performance discussions and integrating culture with strategy.

To earn the distinction as a Best Christian Workplace, organizations participate in the Best Christian Workplace Institute's employee engagement survey and meet predetermined standards of excellence.  The survey covers issues such as job satisfaction, commitment, Christian witness, supervisory effectiveness, work satisfaction, personal growth and development, management effectiveness, customer/supporter satisfaction, teamwork, communication and pay and benefits.  Employees confidentially respond to more than 50 questions addressing these topics.

Best Christian Workplaces Institute's purpose is to serve faith-based organizations by creating processes of discovery, facilitating leadership and organizational health and encouraging behaviors that build flourishing organizations.  BCWI is a non-profit research based organizational development and human resources consulting firm based on Mercer Island, WA.

Gaither Artist Angela Primm Signs Extensive Agreement With AG Publicity

July 28, 2014 (Nashville, TN) Renown Gaither Soloist, Angela Primm, has reached an agreement with AG Publicity to represent her. Angela, long known for singing behind such great artists as Andre Crouch, Patti Austin, Bill Gaither, Gretchen Wilson and others has gained her the respect of industry leaders for her singing abilities. Her four-octave soprano voice added rich tones and depth of sound to each artist’s project.

Deon Unthank, President of AG Publicity said “I am so excited to be working with my longtime friend, Angie. Having watched her work in a Church atmosphere and seeing how her voice and spirit moved the hearts of those in the pews, it is only natural that she will do the same for the thousands she sings to in larger venues.”

Her current and inevitable step as solo artist is the natural progression of a life divinely designed. Angie is also a wife and business woman. True to her down-to-earth personality, she considers her most important achievement to be marrying her soul mate, John Primm. A successful business man as well as fine vocalist himself, he is Angie’s biggest fan, chauffeuring her and caring for her on many of her personal appearances. He knew how to love her 20 years ago and continues to do so to this day. Together, they established “Still Waters, Christian Light Club, Inc.,” a live Christian cabaret that never compromises the Gospel. The fresh and exciting show is a huge hit in Nashville.

Angela commented “Entering a new phase of my Ministry it is important to surround myself with the people I can trust. Having known Deon Unthank and the integrity he brings to Gospel Music gives me confidence to trust AG Publicity to do everything they can to help me in this next step in my career.”

Be looking in the near future for new music and dates from Angela Primm.

If you would like to book Angela for you church or concert E-mail her at angela@angelaprimm.com .

About Angela Primm
Angela Primm is one of the premier voices of our time. Her musical history spans genres, continents, and audiences. She has commanded the attention of mega-stars from Aretha Franklin, Barbara Mandrel, and Brooks and Dunn to Southern Gospel music legends, Dolly Parton, and the late Vestal Goodman.

Angela’s background is what dreams are made of, and she is only beginning to step into the fullness of her purpose. Singing behind musical geniuses, Andre Crouch, Patti Austin, Bill Gaither, Gretchen Wilson and others, her four-octave soprano voice added rich tones and depth of sound to each artist’s recording. Angela Primm whose gift of song, love of the Gospel and Gospel music has catapulted her, as the Bible says, “before great men.” Together, they established “Still Waters, Christian Light Club, Inc.,” a live Christian cabaret that never compromises the Gospel. The fresh and exciting show is a huge hit in Nashville!

Angela was raised in the church by her precious mother, who was also a singer. Angie’s mom would sing the foot-stompin’ and joyful, “Couldn’t Keep It To Myself!” with such fervor, she would often lose her wig; but she would swoop it up and place it back on her head – backwards, and not miss one beat of her favorite song! Church members would laugh and shout right along with her! (Telling this particular memory of her mother makes Angie rear back in laughter herself!) “Couldn’t Keep It To Myself!” is also a favorite song of Gospel legend, Bill Gaither and is featured on Angela Primm’s sophomore project, Sanctuary. This CD along with her debut CD, A Little Bit of Heaven have been selling out wherever Angie performs – from concerts to cruises.

Bill and Gloria Gaither have embraced her as a daughter and always make room for her to sing in their sold-out concerts and Gaither videos. Angie’s beautifully wide smile lights up a room and her fun-filled disposition carry an exuberance that is electric and contagious! Moreover, her anointed and powerful voice makes the cares of this world melt into puddles at your feet. Angela Primm is “a little bit of heaven” to those blessed to know her, or experience her music, her joy, and her wonderful laugh!

What lies ahead for Angela Primm? Her future rests securely in God’s hands. But one thing we know for sure is that wherever Angie goes, and whatever Angie does, she will be giving her heart and soul to the people God loves, for the love of her Lord. That’s the way it was, the way it is, and the way it always will be.

Author Announces Publication of New Memoir

Paul W. Sybert reflects on a lifetime of challenges and faith in God and the human spirit
"God is good and the Rapture is near," Sybert writes. "God answers prayer."

This a stroke recovery book of accepting help from other people.

MONTEREY, Calif., July 29, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- In "The Kindness of Strangers: Treasures of the Heart" (published by iUniverse), author Paul W. Sybert shares the details of his life story and shows how he has confronted fears head-on and placed his trust in Jesus Christ.

Sybert, a recovering stroke victim, knows all about living life in the face of adversity, and "The Kindness of Strangers" recounts some of the most important moments in his life, along with the tribulations that have tested him.

Covering everything from being baptized at age 12 to earning a bachelor's degree in engineering and struggling with alcohol addiction, Sybert writes openly about how his faith in God has helped him throughout his life. He also, as the title suggests, gives thanks for the kindness of strangers and shares stories of how they have helped him in many situations throughout his life. "People are kinder than you realize," he states.

An excerpt from "The Kindness of Strangers:"
"The sad part is that as we grow up and get older we meet more strangers and treasure them in our hearts. But the older we get we think of God more like a stranger. We have to make an effort to decide where God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and our Angels fit in our lives. When we do they are no longer strangers."
Most of all, Sybert shares how God has worked miracles in his life. Through anecdotes and illustrations, he communicates the importance of maintaining a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

"God is good and the Rapture is near," Sybert writes. "God answers prayer."

Popular Radio Promoter, Pauline Patterson, Signs Long-term Contract with EHA-Nashville for Management of Personal Music Ministry

(CorbinKY) Pauline Patterson, owner of Patterson Promotions, announces this week her need to recruit Evie Hawkins, owner of EHA-Nashville, to manage her personal music ministry. Most Gospel Music fans may know Pauline from her many years of providing successful radio promotional services to hundreds of recording artists. Many who know Pauline as being a radio promoter may not realize she has had a solo ministry of her own that dates back before her radio promotions company was launched. She actually has been in the ministry for 35 years and has worn many hats in Southern Gospel Music. Some of her prior experience includes being a DJ host of her own Good Morning Gospel Show at WFSR in HarlanKy. for about two and a half years; a concert promoter; and now owns and operates the radio promotions company, Patterson Promotions. In addition, Pauline owns the Southern Gospel Times Magazine, which is the only fan-voted top 40 chart of its nature. Pauline notes, “I’m excited and relieved about getting Evie Hawkins to represent me with management. I want to be able to continue my calling to sing and to make sure I am still 100% on fire to handle my radio promotions for those I represent. Evie and I have been very good friends for quite a few years now, and I feel I’m in qualified hands with her taking the reigns of my music ministry.” Evie notes, “It’s simply an honor to manage Pauline’s ministry. She has phenomenal talent and a gift to nurture, embrace, and bless. I am so excited to be a part of Pauline’s team!”

The call to continue her personal music ministry has not been an overnight decision. She has never discontinued her ministry, but says she no longer has the time to manage it, as she wants to continue to focus on the artists she represents as a priority.

Pauline has never forgotten the call God has placed in her own life as a singer. She has recorded 8 projects and has released numerous songs to national radio with charting success in all major charts. Through her singing, speaking, radio releases, and promotions of her clients to national radio, she strives to “reach souls.”
Pauline is available for church ministry, concerts and Ladies Conferences. She states, "God has given me a song to sing, and if you are blessed by it - Praise Him!"
