Marshall Hall’s Single, “Brighter One,” To Be Featured On The CW’s Hart Of Dixie

Hendersonville, TN (April 25, 2012) – The CW Network will be welcoming a new voice to their Hart of Dixie TV show this Monday evening. While Southern Gospel audiences and Gaither fans will find it familiar, many new fans will be pleasantly surprised by the sounds of this terrific singer and his fresh music. The voice of Daywind Records’ artist, Marshall Hall (formerly of the Gaither Vocal Band), with his brand new single, “Brighter One,” will be featured as a part of the April 30th episode of Hart Of Dixie, which airs at 8 pm EST.
Based in a small town in Alabama, the show centers on Zoe Hart (played by Rachel Bilson), a native New Yorker and recent medical school graduate, trying to adjust to life in the South. The show also stars Jaime King, Scott Porter, and Tim Matheson.
“I’m excited!” shares Marshall Hall. “I’ll admit it – I watch teen TV shows a lot. I can’t help it; maybe I haven’t quite grown up yet. To think that there will be a bunch of teenagers hearing a message from my project is pretty amazing. I’d also like to thank my dear friends, Sam and Becca (Mizell), for writing such a great song!”
“Brighter One” is the title track from Marshall Hall’s 2012 GMA Dove Award nominated project, Brighter One. The single released to Southern Gospel radio this month is already receiving a positive response from DJs across the country.

'Passion of the Christ' Comes to TBN During Easter Week

LOS ANGELES,  The week leading up to Easter Sunday has always been a special season at Trinity Broadcasting Network, the world's largest religious broadcaster and America's most-watched faith channel. And for good reason: during holy week Christians around the world commemorate the Lord Jesus Christ's suffering for us, His sacrificial death for us, and the glory of His resurrection, where death was conquered and eternal life through Christ Jesus is assured! To celebrate, TBN has selected movies and programs that will comfort, inspire, and challenge viewers throughout this sacred season.

For the second year during Easter week, TBN is featuring what has become a cinema classic for believers all over the world: The Passion of the Christ. Produced by Mel Gibson and starring one of Hollywood's most beloved actors, Jim Caviezel, The Passion follows the Savior through the final hours before his death, from his agonizing intercession in the Garden of Gethsemane and savage scourging at the hands of the Romans, to the final moments of his brutal crucifixion. Throughout this intense and emotion-packed film, Jesus is portrayed in all of his humanity while flashbacks of his life reveal his true divine nature.

Due to the overwhelming response to last year's showings, TBN will air The Passion of the Christ throughout the week leading up to Easter Sunday, beginning April 4. Visit TBN's Passion of the Christ web page (here) for specific broadcast times.

TBN will also feature a special four-day showing of the film April 4th through the 7th at Church of All Nations on the grounds of Holy Land Experience, the Orlando, Florida destination that brings the rich history and glorious heritage of biblical Israel to life for the entire family. For more information on this free live showing of The Passion of the Christ, call 1-800-447-7235.

Jim Caviezel, who has been a guest speaker at Holy Land Experience, said his decision to portray Jesus in The Passion was deeply influenced by his love of Scripture. "Throughout my professional life, I have always been drawn to truth when selecting projects," said Caviezel, who also provides the voice of Jesus on The Word of Promise, a popular audio Bible produced by Thomas Nelson. "In the Scripture I find truth that has long been a source of strength and constant inspiration."

In addition to The Passion of the Christ, TBN has a full line-up of special programming for the entire family during Easter week, including the mysterious and dramatic film The Road to Emmaus; the moving documentary Twelve Ordinary Men; the unforgettable Apostle Peter and the Last Supper; the stirring In Remembrance; and the classic Easter film The Robe.

'We've been so blessed over the years to be able to air unforgettable and moving films, concerts, and programs reminding us of the awesome gift of salvation through Christ Jesus and His love and sacrifice for all of humanity," said TBN founder Dr. Paul Crouch. "Easter Week is truly a special season for us here at TBN. Our prayer is always that our programming will present the life-changing power of Christ’s love for our viewers all over the world."

Hagee Ministry Ambulance Displayed at CUFI Event in Jerusalem

ERUSALEM, Israel, March 21, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Pastor John Hagee led hundreds of followers and members of CUFI to Israel to show their political support and bless Israel. As part of the activities, CUFI members and other supporters gathered in central Jerusalem for a march and solidarity rally on the steps of Jerusalem's city hall.

Photo: Pastor John Hagee being greeted by supporters while standing in front of one of the seven ambulances donated to Magen David Adom by John Hagee Ministries. These ambulances have treated more than 11,000 people, including a woman and her baby boy, who was born en route to the hospital last month.

During the gathering before the march, participants were treated to see one of the seven ambulances that John Hagee Ministries donated to Magen David Adom, Israel's EMS and first- responder organization and Israel's national blood bank. Together, these ambulances have treated more than 11,000 people, including people hurt in a terrorist attack launched from Sinai this past summer, victims of numerous car accidents and heart attacks, and a woman who delivered her baby son en route to the hospital last month.

"As much as it's heartwarming when Christians come to Israel to show their unwavering support, it's essential that we make it a point to say thank you," said Arnold Gerson, CEO of the 72-year-old American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA) "It was our privilege to bring one of the Hagee Ministry ambulances for all to see and share the pride we have. We're grateful for Pastor Hagee's ongoing support to help save lives in Israel, and for the partnership and generosity of millions of Christians throughout the US."

In response to the ongoing and overwhelming support for AFMDA from Christians across the US, last year the organization launched a new program, Heart to Heart, as a grassroots way for Americans of all backgrounds to support and bless Israel, helping to save lives through an innovative virtual blood donation program. Heart to Heart Director Jonathan Feldstein noted, "We invite all those who love Israel and wish to fulfill the biblical mandate to bless Israel to join Heart to Heart, to help increase and protect Israel's blood supply. We hope that churches, organizations, and other ministries will continue to become Heart to Heart partners."

For more information on Heart to Heart and AFMDA's lifesaving activities in Israel, please visit www.afmda.org/hearttoheart or contact hearttoheart@afmda.org.

Orange and Upward Sports Working Together to Accomplish More

CUMMING, Ga. Orange believes in the power of teamwork to maximize influence in the lives of children, and for that reason recently worked with Upward Sports. Orange, an organization that creates curriculum and resources for churches, is very excited to work with Upward Sports by providing three pieces of their program: the weekly practice devotions for kids, weekly halftime activities for parents, and end-of-the-season celebration DVD for families to take home. These components have been a key part of the Upward Sports experience, but have been rewritten and reproduced to contain the innovative Orange philosophy of using virtues to teach biblical lessons to children. Now, churches that already use the 252 Basics children's curriculum from Orange can connect with kids through sports, and similarly, churches that already conduct Upward Sports programs have an opportunity to continue the lessons inside the walls of the church building.

The purpose behind Upward Sports is to connect the local church with the community through the universal language of sports. Upward Sports develops, equips and resources local churches to create the type of positive sports experience that helps to tear down walls and enables people to see the church in a new light. Rallying around the idea of creating environments and events for kids, Upward Sports and Orange are looking to bridge a gap between community members participating in a 12-week sports program, and those same community members participating in the local church.

By using materials based on Orange curriculum, non-church members experience what the church is like on the common ground of sports. The relationships formed on the court or field between church members and the community is what Upward Sports hopes will motivate community members to attend church, experience the gospel and become a part of its body.

Upward Sports and Orange hope this collaboration will provide a connection point for the community with local churches, fostering further involvement, and growing young lives toward understanding virtues, values and the importance of a personal faith in Jesus Christ. When churches unite the Upward Sports program with what they are already doing in 252 Basics, they are bridging a gap and providing a track to run on for families in the community.

About Upward Sports:
Founded in 1995 by Caz McCaslin, Upward Sports is the world's largest Christian sports league for kids. The first-class sports programming -- which includes basketball, flag football, soccer and cheerleading -- provides a fun sports experience based on healthy competition for kids, teaching skills for the sports arena and values for life. Today, more than 550,000 children in 47 U.S. states and Canada participate in Upward Sports Leagues hosted by 2,400 churches. To learn how to start a league, visit www.Upward.org/connect.

Common English Bible is a Bestselling Translation in Record Time

NASHVILLE, The new Common English Bible is #10 on the CBA Bible Translation Best Seller list for the month of December. Since the list is based on actual unit sales in Christian retail stores in the United States through Oct. 29, 2011, the Common English Bible (Twitter @CommonEngBible) achieved this status after being in stores less than three months.

"We're delighted the Common English Bible is receiving such early overwhelming support and acceptance," says Paul Franklin, PhD, associate publisher. "We see this as confirming our decision to create an academically rigorous yet naturally understandable translation for 21st century English readers; a translation from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek that's built on common ground."

The best seller achievement comes at the same time the completion of the Common English Bible after four years of translation work was named one of the top 10 religion stories of 2011 as decided by leading religion journalists in the 30th annual Religion Newswriters Association survey.

The Common English Bible is a collaboration of 120 Bible scholars and editors, 77 reading group leaders, and more than 500 average readers from around the world. The translators -- from 24 denominations in American, African, Asian, European, and Latino communities -- represent such academic institutions as Asbury Theological Seminary, Azusa Pacific University, Bethel Seminary, Denver Seminary, Princeton Theological Seminary, Seattle Pacific University, Wheaton College, Yale University, and many others.
The Common English Bible is written in contemporary idiom at the same reading level as the newspaper USA TODAY -- using language that's comfortable and accessible for today's English readers. More than half-a-million copies of the Bible are already in print, including an edition with the Apocrypha. The Common English Bible is available online and in 20 digital formats. A Reference Bible edition and a Daily Companion devotional edition are now also available. Additionally, in 2012, Church/Pew Bibles, Gift and Award Bibles, Large Print Bibles, and Children's Bible editions will be in stores, joining the existing Thinline Bibles, Compact Thin Bibles, and Pocket-Size Bibles, bringing the total variety of Common English Bible stock-keeping units (SKUs) to more than 40.

More than 140 international bloggers are currently participating in the three-month long "Thank You-Come Again-I Promise" blog tour (from November 2011 through January 2012). Popular author to begin “Seek and Find” Fast for 2012

(Nashville, TN) --Author and nutrition expert Kristen Feola is launching a “Seek and Find” fast this month, inviting her over 30,000 monthly website visitors to participate with her in the Daniel Fast on which her book, The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast (Zondervan), is based. In addition to utilizing recipes from her book, Feola will be introducing new recipes along with multimedia tools such as cooking videos to assist others in the fasting process.

“We chose the theme ‘Seek and Find’ because the word Seek means ‘to go in search or quest of,’” says Feola. “We want to persuade people to go forward and commit to a Daniel Fast for the upcoming year so that they can know the Lord in a deeper way.”

The Daniel Fast, which is typically a 21-day fast, is based upon accounts of Daniel’s fasting experiences as recorded in the Bible. The book of Daniel records that after receiving a disturbing vision from God, Daniel entered into a state of mourning, or fasting. The Bible says that he ate no choice food and had no meat or wine for three weeks (chapter 10:2-3). Most commentaries agree that such desirable foods probably included bread and sweets. The English Standard Version of Daniel 10:3 says, “I ate no delicacies,” and another translation puts it this way: “I did not eat any tasty food (10:3 NASB).” It is believed that Daniel ate simple foods, taking in only what was necessary for physical sustenance.

“The goal on the Daniel Fast is not to duplicate Daniel’s menu, but to imitate the spirit in which he sought the Lord,” Feola says. “His passion for God caused him to long for spiritual food more than physical food, which should be the ultimate desire of anyone choosing to participate in a fast.”

Foods that are allowed on the Daniel Fast are fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, legumes, nuts, seeds, and oils. Foods to be avoided include dairy, meat, sugar, all forms of sweeteners, yeast, refined and processed foods, deep-fried foods, and solid fats. Since the Daniel Fast includes solid food, it is much less intimidating than a liquid-only fast, resulting in a greater success for people.  Additionally, Feola cites several health benefits of fasting.
Fasting gives your body much-needed rest as it cleanses your body of chemicals and harmful ingredients,” says Feola. “It also gives your body a chance to repair itself. Studies have shown that fasting decreases the risk of a variety of conditions including cancer and autoimmune diseases. And lastly, fasting enables a person to break destructive eating habits and retrain the body to resist certain destructive cravi ngs.”

Zondervan released the Spanish version of Feola’s book last month, coinciding with the recent commitment by the Spanish Evangelical Products Association to begin the New Year with fasting and prayer. When it was originally released, The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast became a top 50 best-seller on the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) list.  Today, it remains in the top 50 best-selling books on Amazon under "Christian Living" and a top 15 best-seller on their "Cooking, Food & Wine" list.

Feola has worked as a personal trainer, nutritional consultant, First Place 4 Health leader, Moms in Touch leader, and fitness instructor. Kristen lives in Springfield, Missouri with her husband, Justin, and her two daughters. Her website address is

An Intimate Look at One of the 20th Century's Greatest Evangelists, Oral Roberts

TULSA, Oklahoma,  If you are like most people, the name Oral Roberts will evoke a thousand different images. But, images can be manipulated - cropped, airbrushed, added-to and colored. A life as panoramic as that of Oral Roberts cannot be viewed from one perspective. Seen from one angle Oral Roberts is a far-sighted man of God who fused the "Old Time Religion" with the modern tools of communication and education. Seen from a different angle, he represents, for some, the retreat from the central tenets of the "Bible" to a market-driven, multi-media ministry. What made Oral Roberts such a divisive figure? Like all complicated stories, the truth lies somewhere beneath all the hype, hyperbole and hysteria.

Now, the daughter of famed televangelist Oral Roberts has stepped out of the shadows to answer these questions about one of the 20th century's most enigmatic men. My Dad, Oral Roberts is an intimate, behind-the-scenes portrait of a man who literally held America spellbound, told by one who had a most unique viewpoint.

The youngest of Oral and Evelyn Roberts' children, Roberta Roberts Potts directs the reader toward a more private side of her father, who began life in crushing poverty and went on to become a world-renowned Christian figure. And, while most who read this book have already formed some opinion of this iconic figure, My Dad, Oral Roberts will seriously challenge those opinions. Ms. Roberts Potts candidly and lovingly exposes the "clay feet" of this great man of God, as well as walking us through the trials and tribulations that she and her family experienced. Although many are familiar with the history surrounding her more well-known brother, Richard, many will be surprised and touched to hear about the lives of her other brother and sister. Truly, as had been said or paraphrased by different people, in many different ways, one should not judge another until they have walked in his shoes. My Dad, Oral Roberts, is destined to change the way we think about this man. Roberta Roberts Potts is available for interviews, public appearances and book signings.

Is your teenager depressed? Do you know what to look for?

Is your teenager depressed?
Do you know the signs to look for?

What’s going on with your teenager? Is it just the ups and downs of adolescence, or is it something more? In Dr. Gregg Jantz’s new book, (When Your Teenager Becomes) The Stranger in Your House, parents will learn to distinguish between normal adolescent behavior and clinical depression.

The excerpts below from The Stranger House (© David C Cook) explain what to expect as regular teen behavior and what to be on the lookout for.

What to Expect:

I think the nearest comparison I could give to what I remember about being a teen and what I hear from teenagers about adolescence is that of a reptile shedding its skin. When a snake or a lizard sheds its skin, the new growing skin cells separate from the old established skin cells, causing a marked change in appearance and producing an irritability that can result in increased snapping and hissing. Of course, reptiles shed their skin relatively quickly, so the analogy doesn’t carry too far. Still, I think it’s fairly parallel. Your teenager’s nascent adult is separating from the confinement of childhood, causing a marked change in appearance and producing an irritability that can result in increased snapping and hissing. I think it’s why teens often feel like their skin is crawling and fight against a sensation of being confined, wanting to burst free. And it’s why parents often look at their teens as though they’re something that just crawled out from under a rock.

Shedding skin is uncomfortable, often disturbing, and absolutely necessary for growth—and it’s the same with adolescence. It makes it easier, however, when you know what to look for and what it all means. Teenager adolescent behaviors are stereotypical for a reason—they are fairly consistent across generations. If you haven’t noticed many of these already, you will, in varying degrees, depending upon your teen.
  • Moody and irritable
  • Unpredictable
  • Manipulative
  • Argumentative
  • Withdrawn
  • Self-absorbed
  • Dramatic
  • Dismissive
  • Collectively independent
  • Anxious
  • Powerful
  • Exclusively inclusive
  • Physically awkward
  • Overwhelmed
  • Insecure
What to look out for:

As we’ve seen in previous chapters, dealing with a teenager can be a dicey proposition in the best of times. On any roller coaster, part of the ride is taking that occasional plunge, but what happens when the drop becomes too steep or the ride veers off track? As a parent, your tolerance for a rough ride may be different from your teen’s. So how do you know if your teen is having a bad day or a bad week or something more? How do you know if the withdrawal and slump in grades are normal or something to worry about? How do you know if it’s just teen angst or something worse? How do you know if your teen is just unhappy because of a breakup or doing poorly on a test or if this unhappiness has spread to life in general?

How do you know what you’re dealing with when your teen has become adept at avoidance? He’s quite capable of figuring out and telling you what you want to hear so you and your disquiet will quietly go away. She has the ability to block any genuine concern with a concussive and shrill blast of anger. Getting to the bottom of a problem you merely suspect and your teen barely understands is like catching smoke and trying to examine it in your hand. As tempting as it may be to give up the whole proposition of trying to catch smoke in the first place, there is the unsettling reality that where there’s smoke, there is often fire. This fire has a name: It’s called depression.

Kids get depressed, just like adults. It’s something, as a parent, you need to be aware of and look out for. A depressed teen does not have the wherewithal, generally, to come to you for help, especially when one of the symptoms is isolation. If you’re waiting for your teen to come to you, you’re going to be waiting a long time, maybe too long. So you need to be proactive. Know the signs. Even though all kids are different, there are some specific things to look for, according to the National Institutes of Health’s National Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center (that’s quite a mouthful, but, luckily, the website is a bit shorter—SafeYouth.gov). No one of these signs is a definitive red flag that says, “Yes, your teen is depressed.” Rather, they form a pattern of concern. They should catch your attention and slow you down long enough to investigate the source of the smoke, even if you have trouble catching it in your hand.

So what are these red flags that parents need to watch for, if they are wondering if their teen is teetering on the edge of something more serious than teenage angst? I have listed them below, and following the list is a more detailed explanation of each:
  • Negative feelings or behaviors lasting more than two weeks
  • Loss of enjoyment in established activities
  • Restlessness, fatigue, or a lack of motivation in school
  • Marked increase in irritability or impatience
  • Feelings of being weighed down
  • Loss of physical and emotional energy
  • Marked changes in appetite or weight
  • Lapse in personal hygiene.
  • Social isolation from family or friends
  • Taking up with a new set of friends
  • Impulsive thinking or rash judgments
  • Inability to make decisions, concentrate, or focus
  • Marked increase in frustration or anger
  • Feelings of sadness and worthlessness
  • Expressing feelings of stress and inability to cope
  • Ongoing complaints of headaches, stomachaches, bodyaches
  • Marked change in sleep patterns
  • Avoidance of added privileges
(Further explanations of each item from both lists are included in the book.)

Billy Graham Rapid Response Team Concludes Deployment to Haiti After More Than 22 Months

The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team has completed its 22 month deployment to the earthquake-stricken country of Haiti. Chaplains first arrived in Haiti within 24 hours of the Jan. 12, 2010, disaster that is estimated to have killed more than 300,000.
More than 120 chaplains ministered in the impoverished nation during the nearly two-year-long endeavor, and those trained chaplains prayed with and comforted 35,420 Haitians and relief workers. Individual chaplains typically spent two to six weeks at a time in the country before rotating out.
"We have witnessed the best and the worst that this world has to offer as we've ministered in Haiti," said Franklin Graham, president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. "We've seen pain and grief on an unimaginably massive scale, and we've seen beauty, hope and joy in the spirits of the Haitian people that defies all explanation in the midst of such a hard place."
Recognizing the ongoing need in Haiti for spiritual and emotional support, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has implemented many of its other ministries in the country over the last several months as well, including a Franklin Graham Festival held in January 2011, a My Hope World Evangelism Through Television program that reached the entire nation through grassroots efforts, and The Greatest Journey, a special educational program for children. A Creole translation of the youth training course Dare to Be a Daniel is also in the works for Haiti.
The deployment to Haiti was the second-longest outreach in the history of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team. Following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, chaplains immediately deployed to the Gulf Coast and had a presence there for two-and-a-half years until concluding the effort on March 14, 2008.
The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team is a nationwide network of chaplains across 44 states that are specifically trained to deal with crisis situations. Since the ministry was launched in 2002, it has responded to more than 120 natural and man-made disasters, including hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, fires and shootings.

Donors Can Approach Year-End Giving with Confidence

WINCHESTER, Va.,  Donors to charities during this year-end season for celebration and sharing may give with confidence by taking a few moments to learn whether a charity operates with integrity and is a trustworthy steward of its resources, says Dan Busby, president of ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability).

Givers can donate to a nonprofit more joyfully by knowing how a charity's funds are spent, and that the charity's appeals for donations are truthful and accurate.

"Enhancing trust is essential for faith-based and all other nonprofits, as donations are more scarce in this challenging economic environment," Busby said. "Every donor has the right to know what a gift will accomplish. Every donor should receive a prompt, straightforward, courteous response to their questions about its fiscal health and agenda."

To assist donors making giving decisions, ECFA has prepared a pair of checklists. In "Six Things Every Giver Should Know" ( www.ecfa.org/Content/SixThingsDonorShouldKnow), ECFA recommends the donor know what the gift will accomplish, whether the donation is going to an accountable charity and how to find a nonprofit that matches the donor's giving interests.

To that end, ECFA offers ServantMatch® ( www.ecfa.org/ServantMatch.aspx), a tool that links donors to charities that minister in almost 70 categories of specific needs, such as evangelism or ministry to children, or in a particular geographic location.

In the tip sheet "Good Charities Willingly Answer Tough Questions" (www.ecfa.org/Content/GoodCharitiesAnswer), ECFA helps donors discern whether the nonprofit is worthy of trust: Does the organization have a strong, clear commitment to a certain mission objective? Is there an independent board that oversees the organization's operations and accepts responsibility for its activities? How does the organization avoid conflicts of interest? Are the organization's financial records annually compiled, reviewed or audited by independent certified public accountants?

Donors considering gifts to faith-based charities may look with confidence to those that have received the ECFA seal of approval as worthy recipients of charitable donations, Busby said.

"The ECFA seal signifies a voluntary commitment of accountability to the giver by the organization," he said. "The only charities that can receive the seal are those that endorse ECFA's Scripture-drawn Seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship(tm), which are essential to operating a ministry with integrity and transparency."

Surveys show that ECFA membership factors significantly into donation decisions. Christian donors increasingly look for the ECFA seal of integrity, accountability and sound financial practices before they give.

ECFA, founded in 1979, provides accreditation to leading Christian nonprofit organizations that faithfully demonstrate compliance with the ECFA standards pertaining to financial accountability, fundraising and board governance. Building the Case for Transforming Ministry Through Coaching

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Dec. 6, 2011  The Empowerment Coaching Network announces the paperback and ebook release of "Coaching Based Ministry" (Credo House Publishers) authored by co-founders Mike McGervey and Tim Cosby. Both versions are available through Amazon.com.

This book grew out of the authors' belief that coaching is the single most effective process for guiding spiritual transformation, personal growth, and leader development. It is based on their conviction that as churches and faith-based organizations discover the power and possibilities of coaching, there will be a growing effort to rebuild ministries and develop leaders using the Coaching-Based Ministry Model.

Traditional models of discipleship, mentoring, counseling, and teaching depend on the ability of experts to impart their knowledge, experience, and advice to others. What the authors have discovered is that receiving information and advice alone does not lead to transformation and growth. This happens only when a person becomes internally motivated to change. Coaching empowers people to change without telling them what to do. Becoming empowered means to take ownership of and responsibility for pursuing your own future. It is based on the principle that the people you coach will understand, value, and apply what you help them to discover, not what you tell them.

What people are saying:

"Most churches and church leaders are quite comfortable being 'tellers' as we work with groups and volunteers. But this material has the potential of truly transforming the individual through internal creative change." -- Dr. Brad Kalajainen, Lead Pastor, Cornerstone Church, Caledonia. MI.

"The Christ-centered explanations will help ministry leaders use a coaching lens to see how Jesus engaged in conversations and empowered people. A great resource for anyone working to facilitate growth and change in the lives of others." -- David R. Beach, co-author, "The Essential Bible Companion to the Psalms."

"This book provides a blueprint that will revolutionize your ministry. Create a culture of coaching with the empowering principles of 'Coaching Based Ministry.' You and those you minister to will never be the same." -- Dr. Mark Vander Meer, Executive Director, Community Recovery International

Both authors are professional coaches, and they are currently offering a 2-day Empowerment Coaching Training program that actually equips people to coach. To learn more about the "Coach Approach" and "Coaching-Based Ministry," visit www.coachingbasedministry.com.

Seven-state Christmas tour begins this weekend

Critically-acclaimed singer/songwriter Peder Eide will launch his 14th annual Christmas tour this weekend.  The 16-show tour entitled “Live Like Christmas” will take Eide and his band (pictured right) to seven different states, including Wisconsin, North Dakota, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Michigan and culminating Christmas Eve in Colorado.  Eide will be singing songs from his two critically-acclaimed Christmas CDs, Perfect Surprise and Christmas: Come On In.  When it was released two years ago, Perfect Surprise was chosen as a favorite Christmas CD by USA Today.

Peder will be joined by special guest, comedian Daren Streblow, at the December 14 concert in Fargo, North Dakota.  Eide and Streblow recently teamed up to record a parody tune called “The Donut Song” set to the music of “Sleigh Ride.”  Eide will join Streblow on his new syndicated radio show releasing in late December.

Eide just released his 14th studio recording entitled Rescue and is donating a portion of the proceeds of the sale of the CD to the Highly Vulnerable Children’s Fund via Compassion International.  The fund is specifically for children who have been orphaned or have severely ill parents, as well as for kids who are at high risk for exploitation or abuse.  Eide has been a Compassion artist for over 14 years, acquiring thousands of sponsors for the non-profit organization.

In addition to his contributions to Compassion, Eide is an adoption advocate, having adopted two orphans into his own family from overseas.  Eide and wife Sherri adopted their daughter Makenzie from Korea in 2004.  Then, four years later, they brought home a little boy named Teshome from Ethiopia.  Along with their older children -- 15-year-old Taylor, 11-year-old Allison and 10-year-old Ethan-- the Eides are clear that their decision to adopt was one of the "best decisions" they ever made.

Eide regularly performs for over 100,000 people each year, having played main stages at music festivals such as Sonshine (MN), Kingdom Bound (NY), Lifest (WI), LifeLight (SD) and Spirit West Coast (CA). He has shared the stage with artists such as the MercyMe, Jeremy Camp, TobyMac, Hawk Nelson, Third Day, among others.

Eide's original "Taste Worship" events continue to be scheduled year-round at various churches and conferences.  It is geared toward bringing parents together with their tweens and teenagers in an interactive worship environment.  Coupling music with teaching, Eide offers families practical "ingredients" to create a worship-filled lifestyle.

Eide has been featured on several national television shows and radio programs including The 700 Club program on CBN, FamilyNet, Daystar network, LeSea network, Cornerstone television, and Focus on the Family’s Weekend Magazine radio show. Eide has been involved with groups such as Youth Ministry Network, Youth Unlimited, Navigators, Youth for Christ, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Youth Encounter, and other events. Eide has been honored by the Minnesota Jaycees as one of their prestigious "Ten Outstanding Young Minnesotans."

10 Tips for Setting a Beautiful Holiday Table

By Roxanne Hughes Packham,
Co-Author of the Hospitality Book: Inspired Design

In today’s rough economic climate, keep in mind that although I hope to inspire you to set a beautiful Thanksgiving or Christmas table the real beauty comes from the thought and love you show your friends and family. Beautiful tables comprise equal parts from the “Inspired” & the “Design” categories. See examples: www.InspiredDesignPublications.blogspot.com.

Inspired

~Place cards
I love to use the ceramic place cards that can be written on with a wipe-off marker. You can quickly write people’s names, a favorite quote or sentiment. Friends love that you thought about them before the dinner and even something as simple as writing their names on the place cards really makes them feel remembered.

~Welcome Sign
It is so welcoming, to have a sign somewhere near the front door to greet your family and friends. From a very personal “Welcome Smith Family” or a seasonal “Merry Christmas” to “We are so glad you are here” on a casual chalkboard or an elegant mirror or glass framed, and write with a wipe-off marker, that welcome sets the tone for the rest of the event.  I used an antique French cupboard door and painted it with chalkboard paint on the raised panel part.

~Quote or Scripture
The most inspirational part of the Holiday table is the beautiful quotes and scriptures. It depends on the occasion, but a quote that is either inspiring or focused on gratitude is the favorite. There is nothing like feasting your eyes, and then your thoughts, on what we can be thankful for, especially as an example for our children. Scattering them around the home (powder room, end tables, above door jam’s) is a great way to elevate your family and friends thoughts.

Design
~Fresh Greenery
Sometimes we mistakenly think a tabletop has to have flowers as a centerpiece to be really elegant and festive. Greenery is a wonderful, fresh and festive way to make a beautiful Christmas table. Simply cut a few small twigs of trees/bushes like pine or ivy, or my favorite boxwood branches, bay tree and magnolia leaves and put them in three smaller glass or crystal vases.

~Candles
No table is complete, in my opinion, with 5 to 7 little glass votives with white candles in them. The light sparkles and makes everything else on the table more beautiful and sets a soft, relaxing, often more romantic tone.

~Seasonal Piece
By seasonal I suggest a “Santa” figurine or such, a gingerbread house, or a standing cross to have in the center of the table. A clear jar of candy canes, M&M’s or such would do just fine, as well. Think: Something available only at this time of year. I usually have plenty of items in the Holiday Decor that I switch out to put on the table for each dinner.

~Napkin Rings
These can be such a pretty way to pull a linen napkin through to set on a place and make a really beautiful table setting. You can use french ribbons, or plain silver rings and they help to really make a bigger impact for an inspiring table.

~Sparkling Glasses
Whether crystal or glass, tall freshly washed glass sparkle so much with the votive candles that it is hard to wrong with this combo. A tall glass and short glass of whatever kind you like is very dramatic and beautiful, set together. Whether colored or clear the sparkle is crucial for the holiday table.

~White Plates
Although I love to use seasonal chargers and salad plates a crisp white plate is the most beautiful element to my favorite tables. They can be dressed up or down, and makes each setting look fresh and not heavy and overdone.

~Seasonal Linens
Of course, linen napkins add the most wonderful touch of elegance to any table, and Christmas plaid or red and green are no exception. My grandfather, who was a “Silversmith to the Stars”, loved a bare table with only plates (or placemats) but wasn’t a fan of covering a beautiful wood table. I have followed suit. Try leaving the wood table bare! The natural elements together is beautiful and simple.

“I tell you, the more I think, the more I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.” ~ Vincent Van Gogh

First Ever Virtual Christmas Choir Being Assembled for Christmas Eve

MORRISTOWN, NJ, Nov. 28, 2011 Liquid Church of New Jersey is inviting individuals from around the world to participate via webcams and YouTube in the first ever Christmas Virtual Choir for Christmas Eve services. Whether they're soldiers in the Middle East, moms in Estonia or students in Phoenix, Arizona, the church will leverage technology to synchronize individual singers into a unified choir rendition of Silent Night.

"We're creating a unique experience for singers across the globe to come together as one voice this Christmas," said Tim Lucas, Lead Pastor of the New Jersey-based Christian church.

Singers are given access to sheet music, music tracks and a video-recorded conductor so that anyone can record and upload their singing part to YouTube. Liquid Church's media team will then assemble a composite video production that integrates all of the individual singers into one large-scale synchronized video rendering for the Christmas Virtual Choir event.

Participation in the Christmas Virtual Choir is open to everyone around the globe, not just the 2,000 weekly attendees in New Jersey, and thousands more who routinely visit Liquid's website and Church Online campus.

The deadline for those who want to participate in the choir is December 15th.

Instructions are available at www.lqd.ch/xmasvideo

The Christmas Virtual Choir's performance will held at six live Christmas Eve services in New Jersey on December 24th held by Liquid Church. Free event tickets are available at www.liquidchurch.com

The movie will be based on the novel “The Chase” written by Susan Wales and Robin Shope. Steve Zambo, president of Salty Earth Pictures, says “We have been wanting to produce “The Chase” for many years. Susan Wales and I first discussed it several years ago. We feel the time is right, with God’s help, to produce this exciting novel into a motion picture.” Author Susan Wales sates, “I really think this is a match made in Heaven for Salty Earth Pictures to do this film. It will be a big undertaking, because it is a big story.” Author Robin Shope says “It is a thrill when you hear one of your books is to become a movie. The issues it presents are timely and the emotions are timeless.” Susan Wales, who makes Los Angeles home, produces the “Movieguide Awards” annually. When asked about working with Wisconsin based Salty Earth Pictures she said, “What I love about Salty Earth Pictures, especially after being in Hollywood where it often takes 10 to 20 years to get a project done, is they get it done. People in Hollywood talk about it a lot, but Salty Earth Pictures gets it done. And that impressed me a lot.”

There is much work to do over the months ahead. Plans for financing, casting, developing the shooting schedule and more will need to be met before the cameras roll. Zambo says, “Salty Earth Pictures is dedicated to producing entertaining stories that have a message of hope based on the truths that can be found in the Bible. I believe ‘The Chase’ will reach many around the world.” If plans go as scheduled “The Chase” will be released in early 2013.
