Happy New Year from Ernie Haase and Signature Sound

From the EHSS newsletter of December 31, 2012:

As we go into the new year, I want to say how excited and humbled I am for the gift of God's grace through Jesus and that feeling of joy I have for the way He has provided and blessed us through our circumstances and, at times, in spite of us. I sent our EHSS Family this poem a few days ago and thought that reading it might be a great way for you to start your new year off, too.

The poem / speech is a motivational tool that our football coach used on us kids as far back as 7th grade. As a team, we would to listen to this before a big game or when we needed to refocus our thinking. All the way to our senior year we would play and listen to this. So, I wanted to share it with you (our EHSS Team) as we go into this new year. I want to be sure we keep and nurture the growth of our "proper state of mind" so that our thinking will aid positive growth within our individual and collective body and spirit.

Pray and think right with me as we see what God has in store for us all.

Peace to you and best wishes for the happiest new year!

The Proper State of Mind
Ray Elliot, former football coach at University of Illinois

If you think you’re beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you’d like to win but think you can’t,
It’s almost a cinch that you won’t.
For out in this world you’ll find
Success begins with a fellow’s will.
It’s all a state of mind.

For many a race is lost
Before a step is run,
And many a coward fails
Before his work’s begun.
Think big and your deeds will grow.
Think small, and you’ll fall behind.
Think that you can, and you will.
It’s all a state of mind.

If you think you’re outclassed, you are.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before you win the prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go to the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later the fellow who wins
Is the fellow who thinks he can.
It’s all a state of mind.
