Furman Wilson, brother of The Primitive Quartet's Norman Wilson, Passes Away

Furman Roger Wilson, 71, died in his sleep during the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 2, 2013.

A current resident of Burnsville North Carolina, he was the son of the late Radford and Virta Anders Wilson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Katie Ann Wilson.

Pastor Wilson retired after 40 years from American Enka. He was a founding and charter member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Candler, North Carolina, where he served as pastor. He was also a charter member of The Primitive Quartet and was a vocalist on the quartet's earliest recordings.

Pastor Wilson is survived by his wife, Margie Letterman Wilson; daughters Carol (Dennis) Randall, Debbie (Jay) Roberson, Sherry (Jim) Rice, and Jennifer (Jerry) Bradford; sons Curtis Bradley, Richard (Cindy) Blevins, Ronald (Pam) Blevins, and Donald (Tonya) Blevins; grandchildren Brandy Rice, Justin Roberson, Andy, Shannon, Lacey, and Chelsea Blevins, Hannah, Heidi, and Sarah Blevins, Jaron, Jessica, Jonathan, and Jacob Bradford; great-granddaughter Allie Blevins; sisters Jean (Floyd) Jones, and Judy (Red) Bullman; and brothers Norman (Wanda) Wilson, and Truman (Linda) Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Bethesda Baptist Church, with the Revs. Dale Banks and Michael Banks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pastor Wilson will be taken to the church at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday where he will remain until the service hour on Friday. His family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
