East Stone Gap, VA - According to multiple sources on Facebook, Harold Gilley passed away around 11 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013. He was 71 years old. Gilley had suffered a several strokes since December 2012. He was probably best known for his tenure with the Palmetto State Quartet. He sang with other quartets and continued to preach after leaving the road. He also served as a chaplain for Norton Community Hospital in Norton, Virginia.
The visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Holding Funeral Home, 17 East 3rd Street North, Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
The funeral will be immediately following the visitation at 8 p.m,m in the chapel at Holding Funeral home.
The interment will be at 11 a.m., Sunday, July 7, 2013 at The Gilley Family cemetery. Anyone wishing to attend is requested to be at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., Sunday morning for the procession to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Soul Harvest Children's Fund, c/oPowell Valley National Bank, 228 East 5th Street, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219
