LARRY GATLIN & THE GATLIN BROTHERS ANNOUNCE 60TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR
Gatlin Brothers Announce First Wave of Tour Dates in Celebration of 60 Years of Music
Nashville, Tenn. (February 4, 2015) - Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers have been dazzling
audiences for 60 years. It all began in 1955, when Larry was six, Steve was four, and Rudy was two. Since those days, the road that the trio has plowed has taken them to concert stages all over the world and has seen their records top the charts and touch the lives of fans from eight to eighty.
Larry says of their 60th Anniversary Tour, "We’re not calling it a farewell or a final tour. We’re calling it the 60th Anniversary Celebration. By no means are we retiring, but after this tour, we are going to slow down a little bit. The promoters are going to have to want us about three times more than they want us right now," he laughs.
As Larry says, "There are other priorities in life. I have two granddaughters. Brother Steve has seven grandchildren and Rudy has two kids. We still love the fans and the road and we still love to sing but we want to spend more quality time with our families."
After performing together as children, Larry went off to college – studying law at the University of Houston. In 1971, he auditioned for the legendary Imperials, Elvis' backup group. He didn’t get the job, but he met Dottie West, who was the opening act for the legendary Jimmy Dean, who would become one of Larry's oldest and best friends. Dottie was initially taken with Larry's resemblance to Nashville songwriter Mickey Newbury. Dottie told him one night in her backstage dressing room at the Landmark Hotel in Las Vegas, "Larry, you look so much like Mickey Newbury, you've just got to be able to write great songs." After the gig in Vegas, Larry went home to Houston, wrote eight songs, sent them to Dottie, and she sent him a plane ticket to Nashville.
Through Dottie, Larry met Kris Kristofferson, who became a champion of his talent as a writer and singer. Kristofferson introduced Larry to Fred Foster at Monument Records which resulted in a contract with the record label. His first album, The Pilgrim, was released later that year. Johnny Cash, wrote the liner notes for his first album, and dubbed him "The Pilgrim," which is what he called Larry until the day he died. Steve and Rudy moved to Nashville in 1975 and teamed up with brother Larry to form Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers. By 1976, the Gatlin Brothers were in the fast lane, thanks to the chart-topping success of the Grammy-winning "Broken Lady." The hits continued throughout the rest of the decade, with seven more number one songs: "I Don’t Wanna Cry," "I Just Wish You Were Someone I Love," "Statues Without Hearts," "Love Is Just A Game," "All The Gold in California," "Houston (Means I'm One Day Closer To You)" and "Night Time Magic." In addition to being inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, the trio was nominated for awards by the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music and the Music City News Awards, among others. "We won some of 'em too," notes Larry.
So, as Larry, Steve and Rudy close out one chapter of their lives, they are looking forward to the next one. Larry says, "We're not cutting back because we can't draw a crowd or that we can't sing anymore. Today, we sound just like we did 40 years ago.... pretty dad-burn good. We're not being run out of the business. We're not going broke. We're not down to bread and milk money. We just think it's time to do some other things, slow down a little bit, and do it with class and dignity – on our own terms. We are grateful to God for our fabulous run and we can't wait to see what else He has in store."
Today, the brothers announced the first leg of their 60th Anniversary Tour. In addition, the brothers will soon release a new Gospel album on Curb Records, titled, Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers 60th Anniversary Celebration. Larry says, "We were going to call the album, The Gospel According to Gatlin because some of the new songs are a little edgy, a little bit different. Then we realized it was our 60th anniversary, so we went with that as the title." And speaking of edgy, Larry says, "Steve and Rudy and I didn't get where we are by playing it safe. We have always pushed the envelope, we have always crossed borders others were afraid to cross and we're not going to stop now... and that is the Gospel According to Gatlin."

The World-Renowned GAITHER VOCAL BAND Nominated for Five 2013 Gospel Music Association DOVE Awards
NASHVILLE, Tenn.—August 27th, 2013—Multi-award-winning national recording artists the Gaither Vocal Band were honored to receive five Gospel Music Association (GMA) DOVE Award nominations for the 2013 awards as announced at the recent GMA press conference which was held at Allen Arena on the Lipscomb University campus in Nashville, Tennessee.
The legendary quintet received a nod for Song of the Year for their hit “Greatly Blessed, Highly Favored,” written by Bill Gaither and Larry Gatlin, as well as two nominations for their current, chart-climbing radio single, “Glorious Freedom,” written by Harold Lillenas and Alfred Judson and arranged by the Gaither Vocal Band. Found on their latest recording, Pure and Simple (Gaither Music Group), “Glorious Freedom” is nominated for both Southern Gospel Performance of the Year and Southern Gospel Song of the Year.
Pure and Simple, produced by Bill Gaither, Ben Isaacs, Michael English and David Phelps, is nominated for Southern Gospel Album of the Year; and the song “Come to Jesus,” also found on the release, has earned a nod for Bluegrass Song of the Year. Featuring iconic tenor David Phelps, “Come to Jesus” was written and previously recorded by Mindy Smith.
Phelps, nominated for 11 DOVES this year, is also nominated as a solo artist for “The Dream,” which is nominated for Contemporary Christian Performance of the Year, and Classic (Gaither Music Group) up for Inspirational Album of the Year. Other honors include his roles as co-producer for Classic and Pure and Simple as well as his co-production on “Glorious Freedom” and “The Dream.”
“I’m so honored as a solo artist and as a member of the Gaither Vocal Band to be nominated for these DOVES…how amazing!” commented David. “I think it’s so cool that both of these projects were kind of a ‘back to the basics’ effort for all of us. The Gaither Vocal Band album is about highlighting the harmonies that we love and have long been known for, and Classic is about celebrating my love for and roots in classical music. I’m so grateful to have been shown such overwhelming affirmation for these labors of love!”
Classic, produced by Phelps and Gaither, finds Phelps showcasing the seemingly endless breadth of his vocal range and a depth, vocally and lyrically, unprecedented by a man already considered a premier tenor. The songs, also released on DVD, include such standards and classics as “What a Wonderful World,” “O Mio Babbino Cara,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” “Panis Angelicus” and others.
Both Classic and Pure and Simple are distributed on CD and DVD through Capitol Christian Distribution and are available through digital stores and at retail stores everywhere. The releases are positioned heavily at retail, through catalog placement and through direct tv campaigns on networks including PBS, DISH TV, DIRECTV, AT&T U-verse, GAC, RFD, TBN, FamilyNet, CTS, CTN, TCT, TLN, FFE Airtime 1, Grace, Legacy, Miracle and Vision as well as on Gaither.com and Gaither TV (available onRoku, Google and the Internet).
Bill Gaither also received five nods for co-producing the Classic, Pure and Simple andSome People Change (Michael English) projects in addition to co-producing the songs “Glorious Freedom” and “The Dream.” Gaither is also honored for his songwriting with a nomination as co-writer of “Greatly Blessed, Highly Favored,” nominated for Song of the Year.
Group member and soloist Michael English received three additional nominations that include Southern Gospel Album of the Year (Some People Change), Southern Gospel Performance of the Year [“Stubborn (Psalm 15)”] and Southern Gospel Song of the Year [“Stubborn (Psalm 15)”]. He is also nominated as co-producer of Some People Change, Pure and Simple, “Glorious Freedom” and “Stubborn (Psalm 15).”

About the Gaither Vocal Band
The Gaither Vocal Band has been making music since the early 80s when four men gathered around a piano before a Bill Gaither Trio concert and began harmonizing on the quartet classic “Your First Day in Heaven.” More than a quarter century later, the list of men who have comprised the Gaither Vocal Band over the years reads like a “Who’s Who” among gospel music’s best-loved male voices. The groundbreaking success of the Gaither Vocal Band continues to raise the standard in male harmony. The group is now comprised of Bill Gaither, Wes Hampton, David Phelps, Michael English and Mark Lowry.
About David Phelps
Contemporary and classical singer, songwriter, arranger and producer David Phelps is one of the most celebrated vocalists in the music business. Long renowned as a consummate vocalist—a lyric tenor with an astounding three-octave range—Phelps released his first classical crossover solo album entitled Classic in 2012, which hit the Billboard“Classical Crossover Albums” chart peaking at the number five spot and staying within the top 15 spots on the chart for weeks. Phelps, who tours internationally as a solo artist in addition to his performances with the Gaither Vocal Band, has performed at Carnegie Hall, the White House and many other venues and churches around the world. He has won two GRAMMY ® Awards and four GMA DOVE Awards, released more than 20 recordings and been a central part of the top-selling Gaither Homecoming video series and tv specials

THE NELONS HONORED WITH 2013 PEOPLE'S CHOICE SILVER TELLY AWARD
Video for "Excuse Me, Are You Jesus?" Written by Bill & Gloria Gaither and Larry Gatlin Honored for Excellence

The Nelons and Bill Gaither, co-writer of "Excuse Me, Are You Jesus," pose with their Silver Telly Awards, backstage during the Gaither Family Fest held in Gatlinburg, TN during Memorial Day weekend.
May 31, 2013 (Nashville, TN) - The Telly Awards has named The Nelons as a Silver Telly winner in the 34th Annual Telly Awards for the music video for "Excuse Me, Are You Jesus?" With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents, the project won the Silver Telly in the Internet/Online Video-Music Video category.
The true-to-life story, put to song by legendary Christian music icons Bill & Gloria Gaither and Country music superstar Larry Gatlin tells the story of a man who makes a startling revelation upon missing his home-bound flight. Point Light Pictures, LLC was brought to the task of making the story come to life.
"Point Light Pictures did an amazing job visually telling the story that Bill & Gloria Gaither and Larry Gatlin so eloquently put to music," stated Kelly Nelon Clark. "This award is an honor and we are grateful to those who voted for the video."
“It is always a joy to work with the Nelons and I’m grateful to be part of their journey, " said Bill Gaither "Co-writing the song ‘Excuse Me, Are You Jesus?’ with my wife, Gloria, and our dear friend Larry Gatlin, then co-producing the Nelons album on which the song was included, was an honor. I would still make music if there were no awards, but it is always a thrill to be a part of something that is recognized by the artistic community in this way.”
"The Nelons are just fantastic and the video is STELLAR," commented Larry Gatlin. "Add to that the honor of being asked to collaborate with two iconic writers like Bill & Gloria Gaither – especially Gloria – well, I am greatly blessed and highly favored! Congrats and thanks for allowing me to be a small part of this!"
The Telly Awards program was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
For it's 34th season, The Telly Awards once again joined forces with YouTube to give the public the power to view and rate videos submitted as part of the People's Telly Awards. In addition to recognition from the Silver Telly Council, the judging panel that selects the Telly Awards winners, the Internet community helps decide the People's Telly Awards winners.
"The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video," said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. "The Nelons' accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production."
A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents.
The Nelons have been recognized in the past for their innovative video accomplishments. In 1987, their concept video for "Famine In Their Land," was recognized with a New York Film Festival Bronze Award and won a DOVE award for Short Form Music Video of The Year.

Nashville, TN – May 10, 2013 – A new family film, INSPIRATION POP 2929, received a star-studded music city welcome as the film premiered at a special invitation-only, VIP screening earlier this week at TBN in Nashville, TN. Music icons Barbara Mandrell & the Mandrell Sisters made their way onto the red carpet in support of singer/songwriter Christy Sutherland (Barbara's daughter-in-law) as she made her acting debut. Alongside the talented women, country music superstar Larry Gatlin, who appears in the film and performs a song written especially for the film, walked onto the carpet followed by Grammy award winning Christian vocalist Jason Crabb. Crabb also made his acting debut in the film and contributed a song to the soundtrack and also performs in the movie. Hollywood actors Jackie Stewart, Britt George and Whitney Goin - all who had starring roles - were on hand to walk as well.
Set in the small fictional American southern town of Mountain Brook, INSPIRATION POP 2929, follows a diverse cast of characters as they struggle in their lives. A young musician wishes to share his gift with a larger audience; a widow copes with the death of her soldier daughter; a small business owner sacrifices her freedom for the safety of a young runaway; a mechanic finds a family by finding his faith; and a man and woman strengthen their marriage by seeking the Lord's wisdom. The main theme in this film is that you too can live a life of irrefutable success if you learn and act upon the things that God has revealed to you! It asks, "Am I truly listening?"
The film stars Jackie Stewart (Sling Blade, A Time To Kill), Whitney Goin (Nickelodeon, Letters To God, A Measure of Faith), Britt George (Las Vegas, Burning Hollywood, Dragnet) Larry Gatlin (Grammy Winner, Country Music Superstar), Jason Crabb (Grammy Winner, Christian Music Male Vocalist & Artist of The Year), Christy Sutherland (Award winning singer/songwriter, Daughter in law of Barbara Mandrell), Regina McCrary and many more.
This inspirational journey is projected over an original Country Gospel and Contemporary Christian soundtrack, with artists including Grammy Award winners Jason Crabb and Larry Gatlin, Christy Sutherland, Regina McCrary and the McCrar Sisters, Terri Sharp, Andrew Greer, Andrea Thomas, Paul Reter, Rob Rainwater, American Idol's Jimmy Smith, JR Hood, Devin Belle, the Lee University Campus Choir and many more.
INSPIRATION POP 2929 is moving forward with a select theatrical release and a special "producers cut" edition DVD of the movie can be ordered online at www.INSPIRATIONPOP2929Movie.com.
