Winners Announced for 2010 SGN Scoops Diamond Awards


NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (July 1, 2010) – The 2010 SGN Scoops Diamond Awards were handed out last night in Branson, Missouri as a part of the 2nd Annual Branson Gospel Music Convention. Eighteen awards were handed out at the awards presentation and several artists won multiple awards including the Gaither Vocal Band, Booth Brothers, Jason Crabb, and Jeff & Sheri Easter.

Rob Patz of Coastal Media Group (owners of SGN Scoops Digital and the Diamond Awards) said, “This year’s show was so much fun! We can’t believe that it is over. We feel like we’ve really made an impressive step forward in regards to the look, feel, and flow of the program.”

This year’s event featured a myriad of performers and special guests throughout the program. The Diamond Awards celebrated the 100th anniversary of Southern Gospel music with special performances by some of Gospel music’s most beloved performers. Several “scrap-iron” groups performed Southern Gospel favorites from the genres rich and varied history.

Members from groups like Beyond the Ashes, 2nd Generation, Dan Keeton Quartet, Sunday Edition, Crosspoint Quartet, The Williamsons, Ascension Quartet, McMillan & Life, The Roarks, Praise Incorporated and soloists Mike Allen, Kenny Bishop, Chris Hester, Rod Burton, and many more all were a part of the All Star groups.

In addition, the evening featured performances from Young Harmony, Christy Sutherland, and Dove Award winner Gerald Crabb. Springfield Missouri’s Broadway Baptist Church Choir opened the program.

Other artists and industry professionals made appearances including Ann Downing, AbsolutelyGospel.com’s Deon Unthank, Dustin & Kaila, Hearts of Faith, GospelGigs.com’s Greg Inman, Gospel Music Today’s Ken & Jean Grady, State of the Ozarks’ Joshua Heston, Branson Radio Live’s Karen Berka, KWFC’s Jonathan Edwards, and many more.

This year’s hosts were Johnathan Bond (of Dove Award nominated group Young Harmony) and Christy Sutherland.

About the Diamond Awards
The Diamond Awards were transferred over to the SGN Scoops Digital several years ago after the original home for the awards, the Gospel Voice Magazine, folded. The Diamond Awards are a fan-based award that allows the fans to choose the nominees as well as the winners each year. The awards show is held during the Branson Gospel Music Convention every summer.
