Ivan Parker: Threads Of Mercy

It takes a time-tested and successful artist to craft an album that can take you on a journey through the fabric of life. Ivan Parker's Threads of Mercy describes God weaving our thread through highs and lows, good times and bad times, with one thing always standing true: Mercy brings us through to the glory of God.

From the kicking first radio single “‘Til The Shackles Fall Off” and “On The Solid Rock I Stand”, to the thought provoking “Silent Prayer” and “God’s In The Middle Of It,” you are sewn into a storyline of God’s love and mercy.

Ivan Parker has a style that is unmistakable from the first song to the last. When the intro starts, whether it’s uptempo or a ballad, you know it’s an Ivan Parker song. Ivan hit his vocal sweet spot on this new record. His voice matches perfectly with the songs on this CD with a warmth that feels good as you listen.

Ivan Parker has won thirty Singing News Fan Awards, including eleven Male Vocalist awards. Threads of Mercy will no doubt take him on to many more accolades in the future!

Threads of Mercy will come out on January 20, 2015. Preview and pre-order today at iTunes or Amazon.

Hoskins Family Landing Two Singing News Fan Award Nominations

Waynesville, Ohio (March 20,2014) The Hoskins Family is a name recognized in Southern Gospel music for some great hits in the past. As a result of coming off the road several years ago and having some real group changes the family has decided it was time to return to what they are called to do, but this time with a revised, updated version.

As a result, Singing News fans saw it appropriate to nominate the Hoskins Family as one of the New Mixed Groups.

It's no wonder that the fans are taking note of this great family group being on the Gospel Music scene again.

Featured singer for the group, Angie Hoskins Aldridge, was also nominated as Favorite Soprano. Angie stated “I do not consider myself as worthy of any awards, but I am extremely honored that Gospel Music fans would consider me one of their favorite Sopranos.”

Voting for the Singing News Awards continues in the July edition of the magazine.

About The Hoskins Family
God, who is the giver of all gifts and abilities, equips individuals with talent and places within them the desire to use that talent for him. Through prayer, trusting God and obedience to His will, those desires are fulfilled and the results are immeasurable. Abby, Angie, Reva, Rick and Ricky, collectively known as the Hoskins Family, are seeing those results as God takes their ministry to new heights every day.
The Hoskins Family is made up of Angie (Hoskins) Aldridge, Reva Hoskins, Abby Aldridge, Ricky Hoskins and Rick Smith.
The Hoskins Family’s first top 40 song, taken from the project of the same name, was a special one to their family. “Mission Of Love” was written by Angie (Hoskins) Aldridge for her grandfather, who was also her pastor. In fact Ricky, Reva and Angie’s ministry was solely committed to their home church until Reva’s father’s retirement from pastoral ministry. It was then that The Hoskins Family felt God called them to a different venture.
“Help Me Stand,” The Hoskins Family’s follow-up single to “Mission Of Love” proved to be their first top 20 hit, reassuring them that they were headed in the right direction. Within 1 1⁄2 years The Hoskins Family had their first top 5 hit with “Joyful Morning,” from their “Hope” project. This was followed by the top 10 hit “I Wouldn’t Trade One Minute Of It.”
“Safe Thus Far” just might be the definitive recording that all their others are compared to. The Daywind project contains songs from some of today’s premier writers and is definitely a “Must Have” album. The first release from this album proved to be their first #1 song. This album was nominated for six Dove Awards.

HOPPERS: New Award Honors & Global Embrace

(Nashville, Tennessee) - October 2011 - Freshly back from sold-out European concerts throughout Ireland, Scotland and Holland, The Hoppers repacked their bags for Pigeon Forge, Tennessee - the home of both Dollywood and the Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame.

With excitement still fresh in the wake of Connie Hopper’s induction last year into the SGMA Hall of Fame, this year’s trip to the 2011 Singing News Fan Awards in Pigeon Forge produced a stunning triple crown win for the family.

The Hoppers’ awards of 2011 included:

• Favorite Mixed Group - an honor The Hoppers have now garnered as a 12th time recipient.
• Favorite Female Vocalist - Kim's 8th acceptance of this top honor.
• Favorite Soprano Female Vocalist - Kim's 14th repeat honor in this category.

The Hoppers pose at Dollywood with their Singing News Fan Awards
Claude and Connie Hopper were also this year honored in Louisville during the National Quartet Convention with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Honor by the Southern Gospel Music Guild. SGMG President Clarke Beasley noted at a reception of industry VIP and friends, "Claude and Connie Hopper are the ultimate examples of class and dignity. The impact they've had in Gospel Music and in the lives of countless numbers of people is immeasurable.”

SGMG Lifetime Achievement Honor recipients Connie & Claude Hopper and Charles Burke pose with SGMG President and NQC Exec. VP Clarke Beasley
Equally exciting as Singing News Fan Awards and new honors for the group was their encounter of the throngs of Southern Gospel fans throughout Europe who eagerly packed The Hoppers' overseas concert schedules. Many were seeing them in person for the first time after years of following their legendary family history and music. The special blessing of their time with friends new and old who live an ocean away was not lost on group matriarch Connie: "It is amazing that whether we are singing to an audience of Irish, Scottish, or Dutch, the presence of the Lord unites us all. Though we were nearly 4,000 miles from home, we were made to feel 'at home' as these wonderful people throughout the Europe tour opened their hearts to us as if we were family."

Added Dean: "There were so many spiritually overwhelming moments for us. We were touched by the warmth of the people and the love they have for God and the music we were raised on back home.”

The Hoppers on stage while on tour in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Netherlands
Capping the thoughts on their European successes, Claude Hopper - known for his homespun stories and Southern gentleman dialect - might have summed it up ideally: "It's a big feat for a farm boy to make his way across the ocean! It's an even bigger feat for that same farm boy to tell his jokes and get such great laughs out of those gracious folks in Europe who might have some trouble deciphering this Carolina dialect. After 54 years and many miles, I got to experience time with people who once seemed eons away - and now have become familiar faces that we love and appreciate."

The Hoppers are already planning return concerts in Europe, including adding appearances in Norway and Sweden. They are also scheduled to perform in concert in South Africa in 2012.

Those who "Like" the NQC Facebook fan page will be able to register votes for the straw poll. Legacy Five would be thrilled if you would participate in the straw poll! This is done by simply going to the NQC fan page on Facebook ( http://www.facebook.com/NQConline) and "Like" the page sometime between now and the start of NQC. During NQC week, a link will be published on the NQC Facebook fan page that will allow you to register a vote in the straw poll. Rest assured the survey mechanism prevents multiple entries by the same person. This should be a lot of fun!

Thank you for taking the time to participate in this inaugural event and voting for your favorites in the straw poll. We look forward to seeing the results!

Until Next Time,
Scott

Singing News Fan Awards Showcase and Straw Poll

NQC Singing News Fan Awards Showcase and Straw Poll to Allow Participation through Facebook

The first ever Singing News Fan Awards Showcase will take place on Saturday afternoon, September 17th. As part of the showcase, the winners of the Fan Awards straw poll (an informal survey conducted among NQC attendees in anticipation of the actual Fan Awards presentation later in the month) conducted throughout NQC week will be announced. In addition to NQC attendees, our Facebook friends will also be able to determine the winners. At the start of NQC week, a link will be published to our Facebook friends that will allow them to vote in the categories that will be tracked by the straw poll. These votes will be tabulated along with the votes collected by NQC attendees with the winners announced during the Fan Awards Showcase.
If you are not an NQC Facebook friend, just go to http://www.facebook.com/NQConline and select the “Like” button. Please direct anyone you know that might be interested in participating to this link as well. The categories and nominees for the straw poll are as follows:
