AbsolutelyGospel.com Garners 7th Consecutive Diamond Award Nomination
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Deon & Susan Unthank, administrators of AbsolutelyGospel.com (formerly SoGospelNews.com), were greeted with news last week that the popular e-zine has received another nomination in the upcoming Diamond Awards program.
Listed on the ballot as SoGospelNews.com (the site’s moniker as of April 2010), AbsolutelyGospel.com has been nominated for Favorite Industry Website for a sixth consecutive year. The site was also nominated in 2004 for Favorite Artist/Industry Website before the category was split the next year – making this the site’s seventh consecutive nomination in the Diamond Awards program.
Deon Unthank of AbsolutelyGospel.com said, “We are so excited that the readers of our site took the time to nominate us for this great award! We never take anything like this lightly. It means the world to us that people love the site and what it’s all about!”
Fans can now vote for their favorites from the Top 5 ballot. The online ballot is designed for fans to vote for their favorite artists and individuals for each award. Fans and industry supporters are encouraged to visit the SGN Scoops Digital website to place their votes. The Diamond Awards home on the web is located at http://sgnscoops.com.
The 2010 Diamond Awards will once again take place at the Branson Gospel Music Convention. The show will take place on Thursday, July 1, 2010 in Branson, Missouri at the Branson Convention Center. The awards program will precede the Thursday evening concerts and will begin at 6:00 p.m.

AbsolutelyGospel.com has been awarded Favorite Industry Website for the last three years when it was known as SoGospelNews.com. The site also won the coveted Impact Award in 2006. The Impact Award was awarded to the individual or organization that has made the biggest impact on the Southern Gospel music genre for the previous year. Deon & Susan Unthank were given the award based on their accomplishments with SoGospelNews.com.
It was announced last month that SoGospelNews.com would be changing its name and re-branding itself as AbsolutelyGospel.com. AbsolutelyGospel.com will not change its focus on Southern Gospel music. However, the name change also gives administrators of the site a chance to feature other artists and individuals in the Gospel music community that fans of Southern Gospel have come to love – such as Inspirational, Christian Country, and Black Gospel artists.
The site launched a new layout and logo in January as well as the new tag line that simply said “Absolutely Gospel.” The site officially flips over to AbsolutelyGospel.com on April 13, 2010 – the night of the site’s annual SGN Music Awards Celebration. In addition, all of the site’s big events – such as the SoGospelNews Music Fest and SGN Music Awards will be rebranded as well. The Absolutely Gospel Music Fest will take place this July in Smyrna, Tennessee, and the AGM Awards Celebration is already scheduled for April 2011.
Fans can get to the site by either logging in to AbsolutelyGospel.com or the site’s old domain name at SoGospelNews.com.
